Bits and Drabbles

Eh, it’s been rather long since I last updated. If anybody wants to know, it’s cus I’d been fooling around in Hellgate: London. Nice game, but rather glitchy. Basically, it’s 3D Diablo set in futuristic times. I didn’t quite like the story plot, but the PVP system is rather good. I suppose it’s worth the 60$ SGD I spent on it.

Well, since I’m on the topic of MMOs, I might as well discuss several other games that I have/had been playing.

Granado Espada was another nice game that I’ve played a few months ago, back when it first beta-ed in S’pore. I found it to be quite refreshing actually, with the new stance-based skill system and the ability to play up to 3 characters at once. What I didn’t like, however, was that every stock character looks exactly the same. I mean, even Maple Story allows you to edit your looks to some degree, but in GE your character looks no different from everyone else’s. Worse still, GE characters are allowed to auto-attack (auto-acquire and engage targets in a certain radius). And because having a 3-man party system means you’re pretty much self sufficient in terms of healing and damage dealing, you’d end up finding everyone afking in popular training spots. If you’d experienced map hogging in Maple Story before, you’d understand just how bad this sucks. Anyway, I quitted this game when GE started charging a monthly subscription fee(yeah, I am a cheapskate who refuses to pay for games).

Not really sure if Gunz is even an MMO, but heck. Gunz was pretty nice the first few times I played it. It’s basically a 3rd person shooter with loads of action. Not sure if this is a common feeling, but I got bored of it after playing up to lvl 18, cus it felt very repetitive. Well, I never really got around to mastering the K-style of playing Gunz, so maybe that’s why. Still, the gaming community is pretty unfriendly, and that contributed to my current apathy towards the game.

Now on to Maple Story, the King of Grinding MMOs. In my opinion, Maple Story is the worst ever in terms of leveling requirements (anyone know of something even worse?). Think about it. You spend 10 hours killing the same monster over and over again, just so that you can gain one level and earn a few extra AP and SP. Rinse and repeat 199 times, and my brain will probably implode. At least it’s easy to make friends and hang out in Maple Story, since the game has a very casual setting and a nice buddy/ guild system. Which is also part of the reason why I’m creating a sindit in Bootes. The other part of the reason is because I have run out of other games to play :X.

On a last note, the Maple Story anime is out, lol. If anyone did bother to go watch it, tell me how it went .

PS: The smilies aren’t working for me . How do I go about using them?

Edit: Wait, they’re working now. Nevermind.

    Rakion’s pretty much the same way =/ XD
    Well, there’s different armor, but it’s not that much different.
    Or maybe it’s because I’m only level 7, never played any games besides level 1-10, and haven’t seen many people with actual equips.

  2. King of Grinding MMOs.

    Agreed, agreed, agreed. :X And usually, by the 120th time or so, it’ll take more than ten hours. >>;

    Haven’t watched it, but from what I’ve seen and heard of it, the way the anime is drawn – characters, monsters, ect – and the general thing suck’d muchly.

  4. Meh, the only thing I don’t like about the Buddy System n’ Guild thang in MS is that you can’t tell when people deleted you and the levels of people in the guild when they’re innactive.

  5. Would love to buddy, but unfortunately, my sindit is a shared account, and my crusader is sorta dead =P.
