i r nub merchant.

The title basically says it all.

Despite my relentless LMPQing, I haven’t been able to get past 10 mil. So I figured I needed another way to make money. Well, there’s Gachapon. Can’t do that, I’m too broke to buy any more NX. There’s… uh…

OHWAIT.

Merchanting.

Buy low, sell high, all that jazz. I have friends who make a hundred mil a week doing that. All they do is spam “B> SCROLLS” in the FM entrance, rip off a bunch of nubs and leave their shops up overnight – waking up to several mil. Didn’t seem too difficult.

Well, my past attempts at merchanting have been far from successful – something like buying a few shoe DEX scrolls for 500k each, then realizing that shoe DEX scrolls didn’t actually give DEX and I’d gotten them confused with shoe jump scrolls. Lost over a mil then. Or that time I went to the KPQ area and bought an overall DEX scroll or two for 400k apiece. Then after a few hours of trying to resell them, being forced to sell them for even less.

I didn’t really have any other option, though. It was basically merchant, or LMPQ until I was satisfied with the amount I’d made from NPCing watermelons over and over.

nothx.

So I went to FM. Went through a few hundred scroll shops, checking prices until I had them burned into my retinas. Cleared out my use inventory, got my money from storage, etcetcetc.

Once I’d done all that, it was time to spam:

“B> SCROLLS @@@@ @@@@ @@@@ @@@@ @@@@!”

And for about twenty minutes, all the trades I’d gotten pretty much went like this:

Me: Yes?
Nub: -puts up a 10% bottomwear def scroll-
Nub: buy plz
Nub: 1 mil
Me: No thanks.
Nub: plzzzz
Me: … -closes trade-

Until I got the brilliant idea to add “no def, HP/MP, or pet scrolls please” to my query. ‘Course, I got a bunch of nub trades anyway, but less of them.
And eventually, I made some pretty decent trades. 10% claw, 60% staff, 30% polearm and 60% cape dex scrolls. All for at least 400k under their actual prices. It was surprisingly easy. All that in under an hour, too!

But of course, I had to screw it up.

I got a trade, and the guy puts up two 70% wand m.atk scrolls.

Dude: Want?
Me: Sure… 450k for each?
Dude: 550k
Dude: I just sold a bunch of these for 550k.
Me: Eh. 500k?
Dude: -closes trade-

Whatever. So I go back to spamming, and he trades me again.

Dude: Fine, 500k.
Dude: I hate the walk away tactic.
Dude: So annoying.
Me: Mhmm. -puts in the money, clicks trade-
Dude: -accepts trade-

Then I did a recheck of my mental price list. ‘Wait, aren’t 70% wand scrolls only worth 400k…?’
Greeeat, just lost 200k right there. That could be made up with 20 minutes of LMPQing, but I was still annoyed.

Another trade. 10% cape INT. No idea how much that was worth. I racked my brains. Nope, nothing about 10% cape INT. Knew how much 60% and 30% were worth, though. So I made a guesstimate, and offered 700k. She was pretty quick to say “sure.” And click trade. And even say thanks – which nobody ever, ever does. But as I began to question my guesstimating abilities, my hand spazzed and I accidentally accepted the exchange. (Using the word exchange here because I’ve only said ‘trade’ about fifty bazillion times.)

A quick search for 10% cape INT scrolls told me that I had just spent 700k on a scroll that was worth about 600k less.

GG, me.

After that I barely paid attention while trading and started buying scrolls for random prices, so I left FM and put what little money I had left back into storage. So ended my first merchanting attempt in forever. My total profit? About 50k. At least it was positive, which is more than I can say for my previous runs. I think I’ll stick to LMPQ for now.

So now I’m waiting for all those scrolls to sell on Basil. If you’re in Broa, buy them. Buy themmmm. D<

k, tyvm~

  1. I merchant mesos
I buy one meso for 10 mesos and then I sell them each for free!
    That’s pro!

    ~LaZzz. . .

  2. Lol. I never got into merchanting, which explains why I was always so dirt poor.

  3. Ditto. I’ve always been broke, even on my clerics/priest.

“but clerics r alwais rich lol@@!”

    It sucks.
    D<

  4. Aw crap, you tricked me! I thought this was by someone who I hadn’t declared a like-it war on! Dammit! And LMPQ ftw! Don’t merchant, you’ll die and hate yaself. Too much work anyways. I now have

Tell ya what, I’ll write a blog and say how much I have.

  5. Lol, ehhhh.
    Merchanting.
Closest thing I’ve ever done to merchanting was buying the materials for a Sirius and then selling the Sirius. Made a good 3 mil profit or so, but I had to spend it all making another Sirius >.> (and ripping myself off by about 300k on the ORES ALONE.)
…which equates to a free Sirius, which isn’t too shabby actually, but it’s a clean Sirius. That means if I want a decent cape, I’ll have to -gulp- scroll it myself.
I have half a mind to chicken out and 100% it, and another half a mind to chicken out, resell it and buy a prescrolled cape. Problem is, if I do one I can’t change my mind and do the other >.>

… ‘nd you’re dexless! How do you complain about being poor >O

  6. It’ll probably cost less to scroll your own.
At least use 60%s, though. That way the cape won’t blow up on you.

    Also, dexless =/= rich. D:

  7. ya i didn’t get even 5 mil till level 50-something >.<
Ya buylow sellhigh- never worked for me because no one would buy a single thing even if i did put up basil prices it never worked.
Not unless i really put up a bogus low price would ppl buy.

    I got 5 mil @ level 25. KPQ FTW!

  9. Lol, okay, it’s always cheaper to scroll your own stuff

Compared to you guys I’m a merchanting god!
Lol, you bought in ms and sold on basil? Well, there’s your problem, usually people go to basil to buy and sell in fm
You must have traded some major noobs!

Lol, I just buy off basil and no matter what you can always sell for a bit higher in fm if you own a shop!
    ~LaZzz. . .

  10. That’s the thing, I don’t have a shop. Lawl.
    -cheapskate-

And with scrolls that are in very high demand, such as 60% glove attack and most claw scrolls, the price difference between FM and Basil is minimal. So I try to go for those. But it’s a bit hard to find good prices on those, compared to scrolls like top str or bow attack, the prices of which are usually known best by people of the particular class that needs them. 😮

    Nuh uh.
So awhile ago I spent about 10 mil to buy four searchers: two 62, a 61, and a 60, for my strless hunter. Average clean is 58.
Didn’t, and still don’t, have any scrolls for them. If I did, and I used the hit-one-30% strategy, I’d have about a 25% chance of getting a 74+ without having to buy more bows, and as prices are looking now the whole thing would cost about 10 mil extra at minimum. (If I didn’t attempt to hit any 30%, I wouldn’t have much of a chance for 74+ at all.)
I could buy a 74 attack searcher for probably under 20 mil.
    x_X
Of course, I could sell the residue that didn’t break and turned out decently, but that wouldn’t be that much. And there’s always the risk of everything blowing up.

…how do I manage to turn like every other comment into a mini anecdote? >_>

    NO U @@@@@

  13. I’m saying it’s always cheaper to scroll if you’re not going for a particular stat
Taking the chance of blowing up is more like taking the chance of it being cheaper or more money wasted
Plus, I’m not really including expensive stuff here!
Lol, mostly for weapons, I just buy them pre-scrolled!

Well, the statement is at most times true, for me anyway, I somehow am good at scrolling!

  14. Well. Anyways, on a semi-related note, I just made a mil at LMPQ.

    Now go do likewise

    Me pro!”

I merchant arrows. I more pro then y00.

  18. You can buy arrows from Ludi pot shop for 1.4k each it’s a glitch on Nexon’s part. You’re supposed to be able to buy 2000 at a time for 1.4k mesos, but they forgot to put 2000 so it’s 1 arrow for 1.4k.

    Now THAT’s arrow merchanting.

(I know someone who lost 2.8 mil from that… )

Ludi is still my favourite place.

But wow, really, 1 arrow for 1.4k. That’s a horrible over-sight. Has no one informed them of it? How long has it been like that?

  20. You can still buy the 1 arrow for 1 meso. There’s just 2 arrows up for sale in Ludi; one’s 1 meso and the other 1400 meso.
Some people pick the wrong one, though.
I think someone probably did, but it’s still there.

  21. , Wait what? How’s 500k-400k Equal to 200k lost?

    O-O Did I miss something? D:
Try making a noob to 40 and then getting the expensive scrolls by doing the quests, then sell them for like, 50k above the price? Small profit, but if you add it all up, It’ll be good money.
