First Maple Blog: Intro to Kaupu

Well, here I am with my first Maple Blog. I’ve decided to start this because I really have nothing better to do while I’m in dull spots at work and cannot Maple.

KauPu is my first bandit, as well as my main character on Mardia. I used to play as Erway, the Fire/Poison Mage of Khaini, but that world got old, and was far too infested with hackers for my liking. I wasn’t planning on moving over to Mardia permanently, it was just something fun to do for awhile. Then I found out more about the new world while playing in it.

People of Mardia, on a general basis, are way nicer and more genuine than the large majority of those I had the displeasure of dealing with in Khaini. Sure there are hackers, but they are are easier to get rid of, and not nearly as widespread as those in Khaini. When PQing with others, it is easier to find a group of people that will work together, rather than try to cut each others’ throats out. Again, you will still run into those occasional people that are complete jerks or try to steal from you in PQ, such as Xuxz, who has absolutely no people skills. Overall though, times are good.

It’s still amazing to me that people can only comprehend trading for things and getting large sums of mesos for every item they have. I try to make it a point to give things away to guild members when they need them, or even random people. I don’t need mesos that badly, and I’m pretty sure a level 68 Hunter is more likely to use a 10% Bow Att scroll than I am. So I gave one away last night. Did I know the guy? Not really, we had just PQed for an hour or so, but that’s it. Why did I give it to him? Why not. He said he was poor and couldn’t afford it, and I didn’t want it anymore. Maybe in the long run he will do something nice for someone else, thinking about this time. Even if he doesn’t, it at least helped at that moment in time, and that’s good enough for me.

Moving back to KauPu…

It is interesting to be creating a thief character, particularly a bandit in a new world full of quick-rising people. Finding equipment has been the biggest task, although I’ve decided that I may end up settling on some issues. I found a Maple Hat, level 70, so I am not worried about another hat for a long time. I also gachaed up a Dark Stud top with 5 Luk, making that a nice contribution. Lower armor is scarce though, and it is tough to find any sort of decent weapon. I will have to hunt down the monsters for ages at this rate.

Oh well. Life goes on, and so does Maple.

I guess I’ve rambled enough for an introductory post, so I will say ciao for now.

(Ps: Mini-rant. People who use smegas for shout-outs are lame. If your friends really care about you, they’d rather you spend your money on something that’s actually useful. And to prove my hypocritical tendencies, here’s a shout-out to Kim, Jordan, Beau, Imboo, Fury, lndent, LilaLove, Bact, BeachKnat, my guildies, and anyone else I can’t think of without my buddylist. You guys rock! ^^)

  6. Yes I have seen Pay it Forward, and I thought about mentioning that in my post, but I didn’t think many people have seen it. Apparently I was incorrect.

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

Feel free to contact me on Mardia. I’m almost done with Orbis PQ at this point, so I’ll have more time for mindless wandering and idle conversation in the near future. More about that later,
