Winners & Losers- Pt 6

WINNERS & LOSERS PT 6

I woke up to find myself in a strange place. I could not quite remember what happened the night before, but now nothing seemed to matter. My eyes darted around and I realised that wherever I was, it was much more peaceful than the real world.

Just then, I saw a crimson balrog in a distance.

Let me try my luck now, I thought. With immense speed I pumped myself into the air and struck the crimson balrog from its back with savage blow. The monster disintegrated, leaving only ashes behind.

1 hit KO! That was amazing. I felt like staying there forever, the happenings seemed too good to be true.

Actually, they WERE too good to be true.

One second I was in dreamland, the next one reality struck me. It struck me hard. It struck me really hard.

“Ouch!” I knocked my head against hard stone and my eyes bolted open. I was in a clump of bushes. What was I doing there? I realised that I had knocked it into a bench and now my head hurt a lot.

I crawled out of the bushes and saw some equipment on the ground.

Wow a dark pirate hat! A dark pirate suit! A dragon tail! A seclusion wrist guard! A dark anakarune! Evil wings! A dark seraphis! An esther shield! I could not believe my good luck.

Then I realised that those were my armour. I was completely naked.

I quickly put on all my inner clothes and slipped into my pirate suit. Just as I was about to leave, I realised that there were females magician clothes on the ground as well.

Oh my god! Don’t tell me…

I spun around and my mouth gaped in horror.

…s**t too late!

At once my mind cleansed itself and all memories of what happened the night before surfaced. I was shocked and terrified. If April woke up now, I was dead. It was a pity that that was exactly what was going to happen.

A blood curling scream loud enough to shatter glass spread through Orbis Park like an earthquake at once.

“I didn’t see anything! I swear! I didn’t see anything!” I shielded my eyes and backed away from April.

I heard some shuffling of clothes. After awhile, I decided that it was safe to look again. April had already worn all her robes by then. She quickly put the seraphis over her head and sighed in disappointment.

“I’m sorry for what happened, but it was nice…” I tried to crack a joke, but only got a slap as a reply.

“Look Jake, I know that it was not completely your fault, but I want to be alone for awhile and wish that you respect my decision. Please go back to Victoria Island and carry on with your own life.”

“We still have a chance together right?” I said something wrong again.

“NO!” April stormed, then quietened. “I’m very sorry, we can’t be together. I appreciate you as a friend, but I have no feelings for you whatsoever.”

My heart turned to stone as April finished her sentence. She grabbed her evil wings and teleported away. I stared at her back as her figure became smaller and smaller.

I did not know how long I froze at on the spot after April had left but I was too emotionally affected to do anything. Tears rolled down my eyes and I dropped my dragon tail on the ground.

April had tried to help me but I ruined her life. I was a loser and it could not be helped. I was destined to be a failure all my life. I was destined to suffer.

Why did it turned out like this? Why is god so unfair? WHY? WHY?

I felt like attempting suicide again, but that would make April despair even more, so I decided against it. I had only two choices left. I could either continue chasing after April’s heart or admit I was hopeless and return to Victoria Island.

I pondered over that question for a long time. What was I to do? If I remained courting April for the rest of my life (yes for the REST of my life), would she not get even madder at me? If I went back to Victoria Island my chances with her would be even lower than that of the first choice, but at least we would remain friends for sure.

My mind kept on flashing images of our short-term companion. My feet slowly shuffled their way to the Orbis station. I guess I was going to be a loser for life.

In fact, I was so desperate that I swore I had been hearing things. Something seemed to be moving in the bushes near me…was it real?

All of a sudden a bandit sprung out from the bushes and performed a savage blow on me. I used my wrist guard and blocked his attack, then returned a savage blow, knocking him out instantly.

Trouble brew up again, not giving me a single moment to rest. Three assassins dropped from a nearby pillar and away went three lucky sevens at me.

Again I sent the stars to a halt with my shield and summon my band of thieves. They were quick to assail the assassins and left them cold as well. Why were they attacking me? What had I done to them?

“Hahaha! You are a worthy member.”

I spun around and saw a tall, shady man rising from the shadow of a lamppost.

“Who…who are you!!?”

“I am the leader of a famous world renowned organisation, Black Death.”

They were the deadliest and most notorious organisation in the whole world. I read numerous reports from them before and each runner was wanted for at least $500,000 by the police, let alone the leader.

“You mean INFAMOUS.”

“Well, sort of. That’s none of your business anyway. The thing is, if you refuse my offer, you are going to die now.”

“Let me consider first.”

“No. You make your decision now. It’s either yes or yes.”

“Sorry I reject your offer.”

I did a back flip and hasted myself. The leader raged and twenty assassins raced after me. What had I gotten myself into now?

I had no time to consider. Flexing my shape like rubber, I dodged over a hundred stars by inches.

I now had a chance to retaliate. In a nick of a second, I threw a heavy bag of 50k mesos at the assassins. They flinched, their faces marked with fear. Too late, a massive explosion rocked Orbis and the 50k bag puffed into smoke.

By the time the smoke cleared, only a bloody scene of disfigured bodies was left. I had been long gone, fleeing for my life. Images whizzed past me, my legs moving as quickly as car tires. When I eventually stopped, there was nothing unusual about the area anymore. I was at the garden of darkness.

I looked around one last time and noticed a card stuck to my shoe. It read, you can always call me at 666. I know about your break-up with your girl. This is the only right solution. It’s never too late to change your mind, Jake.

How the card actually manged to get there was not the main problem at the moment so I didn’t bother.

It’s never too late to change your mind…It’s never too late to change your mind…
