The Silence of the Nependeaths

So what happened to the poor Nependeaths?

If you head over to Orbis and hunt Nependeaths for a while you’ll find out that some of the Nependeaths don’t make any noise at all when you hit them. Then there are other Nependeaths that do make noise when you hit them.

These seem to be two completely different types of enemies as all of the Neps that make noise also will attack you as soon as you walk into their area. If you have Dark Sight and walk around past them they will follow your character back and forth, even though they can’t attack you. They also spawn in the exact same places each time and take about five times as long to spawn as the silent Neps.

The silent Neps will not attack you until you hit them with an attack. You can stand on one all day and take damage and they will just stand there and let you take it. These Neps spawn a lot faster and also spawn in the same place every time.

This does make Nependeath hunting a little easier as you don’t have to watch your distance as closely as you should but it’s still a very strange mystery as to how this would happen.

Anyone got any ideas about this? Has anyone seen a situation like this for any other enemies?

  1. I remember my guild member had heard a rumor that nependeath’s that made a sound when they died actually were more likely to drop Nependeath Honey, but I find this explanation more believable :3

Thanks for the information I’ll tell my guild about it.

  2. Quite interesting, Maybe I oughta try this sometime, Well, if I ever hunt Nependeaths again =P
