Solsunds Quest – Day 1

I started out my first day on the road to recovery just like I had planned, by begging for a new weapon. I tried begging in various areas, each time asking only for a crappy weapon. I wasn’t interested in money or any real help just a simple weapon that would let me get started. When no one would give me anything in Kerning City I moved out to the construction site nearby and started to scavenge up things that people were leaving behind. I wasn’t trying to steal items but people were just killing monsters and never even bothering to pick them up. After about a half hour someone finally sent me a trade invite and it didn’t come from someone who was high level and could afford to throw away a level 1 weapon, it was a level 14 character. He gave me my first weapon, a wooden club. Normally, I’d try to repay the kindness he showed me with something in return but all I was able to do was give him his first fame. His name was xNaruto8 and when I am back to full capacity as an assassin again if he’s still playing I’ll track him down and repay him.

So now here I am with nothing at all to my name but a wooden club that gives me 12-15 damage per hit. It’s almost like being in the early levels again except I do more damage and with over a thousand life, something as simple as an orange mushroom isn’t going to kill me. I beat up on enemies in the construction site for a while and headed back to Kerning to see about getting a better weapon. Unfortunately, the lowest dagger I could buy was 4k and the Garnier was 3k. I only had around 500 mesos at this point so I decided to head back to Lith Harbor where I remembered cheaper items.

When I made it into Lith Harbor I went into the weapon shop and sold all of the random junk I had picked up along the way and ended up with just enough cash to purchase a Fruit Knife. Fortunately for me the fruit knife is a luck-based dagger so it fit perfectly with my assassin build, raising my attack to 23-102. I was really feeling better at this point as it was no longer taking five hits to take down a simple red snail.

I started to head back to Kerning City while using my new weapon to cut straight through the enemies I was encountering, stopping in at the Pig Beach to see if I could gather up some cash there. Back when I was training I always left Pig Beach with way more money than I thought I had collected so I figured this would be a good area to work up to throwing stars again. Pig Beach was really full of people and after hacking away for a while I finally had to stop to recover my health.

Having over a thousand health is a great thing but I had gotten too used to being able to just pop the tops on a few white potions when I was getting low and I hadn’t managed to get a single potion yet so I just had to stand around for a while, healing up 10 HP at a time.

Once I was ready again I worked my way back to Kerning and on my way was delighted to have an enemy drop a White Bandana and another drop a Red Potion. I felt a lot more protected with my new bandana and I now wasn’t nearly as naked. I made it back to Kerning City and sold all the random junk again for money only to find out that if I could sell the only ore I had picked up for 500 mesos that I could afford to buy a Garnier and a set of Subis. No one was willing to purchase from me so I just went and beat up some Orange Mushrooms until I was ready.

I had originally planned on selling the Fruit Knife but I realized that being able to do decent damage when next to an enemy might save my life later as I only had one Red Potion and that wouldn’t save me for long. With my new Subis my damage only increased a tiny little bit but it was certainly worth it. For an assassin to be stuck with a melee weapon isn’t that great as all my skills are geared towards Throwing Stars. By using Subis not only did I now have a long range attack, which keeps me from getting hit as much, but I also could use Lucky Seven and get my Critical Strikes again. It still a far cry from the 400 damage strikes that I was able to do before but at least I was managing to break the two hundred mark again.

While in Kerning I checked the prices on my level 30 clothes only to find out it will cost me 85k just to get a top and a bottom again. I left to go explore the world and try to find an area where I could build up some monster Etc drops that I knew would be easy to sell for some cash. I toyed around working my way through Perion on my way to Ellinia where I ended up spending time fighting Green Mushrooms. I was hoping that maybe I’d get lucky and manage to land a Pan Lid which would buy me a new set of level 30 armor but the luck just wasn’t in it for me today.

Eventually I worked my way around to the Blue Mushroom Forest. Besides being a good place to kill things and pick up the cash that they drop, I’ve managed to get Gold Ores from them and I’ve had person after person ask if I had Blue Mushroom caps. However, at this point it was dinner time so I ended my first day.

I really think my progress went great the first day, working from nothing at all to doing one hit Lucky Seven kills on Blue Mushrooms. I ended up with a weapon, a hat, seven thousand mesos, two ores, twelve red potions, two blue potions and gained another 7% (9,000) exp. Not bad for a naked assassin.

There are five pictures for today and I can only post one picture here so instead I uploaded the set to my file hosting space online. The first two pictures are of me standing in CH 1 Kerning trying to get a weapon. Next there’s me getting my butt handed to me by nothing more than a pig. Obviously after that is me doing recovery the only way I really can without any money, which is by standing still for a long period of time. Lastly is near the end of the night when I was having fun playing with throwing stars again.

  1. Pretty cool idea, what server are you doing this on? Since I suspect that will influence some things. Also, looks like from the pics that this happened a while back so are you releasing the way things are going as blogs every few days like journal entires or what? <.< Since I’m easilly confused, I figured I should ask.

  2. First off, I’m on Bera.

I started right before the anniversary event which will become clear when I get up to that point. I played until I eventually burnt myself out and I took two weeks off and this whole time I’ve been planning on making up a webpage for all of this but I realize I’m not going to do all that work so I figured I’d post it all here.

I’ll be posting one days worth of stuff that happened up until I reach the end. I mainly stopped because it turned into “Did the same as yesterday, nothing’s really changed” so I figured I’d stop when the last uniquie things happened.

  3. Ahhh, well that probably made things more interesting then since it’s getting to be as crowded as Scania slowly but surely. A lot cheaper prices for some things, and a lot more expensive for other things than Broa I’d guess.

That makes sense, I’ll look forward to reading more of it.
