Saga of Sin, Departure

My dad had taken off so quickly, and he left my family in shambles. My mother, broken by his adultery, spent most of her nights in Kerning City, drinking until she lost conscious. Several times the cops had to bring her home; I think they felt my presence, but why did they not take me then remains a mystery.

There left my sister and I. Ariel immediately took the task of raising me, paying for the family’s expenses. She and I were very close, though I never told her of my exceptional powers. I was afraid she would find out.

That day came.

Waving at the audience, I entered the stage. The competition was today, and the finals were almost within my grasp. Sparring became my life; it was a sport of honour, or so the banners said. I knew that they were all lies. Sparring was a dirty game.

I laid eyes on my next victim…opponent. His build was like of a warrior; he was a warrior. No doubt he had spent countless hours preparing for this match. The hours spent dressing up for the ladies, most likely. I gave him a slight smirk and we shook hands.

“You’re going down, dude,” he whispered ominously.

I just stared at him. Threats are for the weak

Thus the match began.

Immediately, I reached for my bow in my inner pocket, and shot two flaming arrows at him. He, in turn, deflected the arrows. He sneered, and attempted to taunt me.

“What are you, a wussy archer?”

While saying that, he lunged forward with his sword. I threw a charm in the air, and sped away. His shocked expression brought a smile to my face, and I took advantage of his confusion. Grabbing ten arrows at a time, I shot at the sky, and the heavens rained arrows down on my unfortunate opponent. His armor was no longer gleaming; it was covered in scratches. Still, he remained calm, though I thought I saw a flash of anger in his eyes.

“You ruined my armor,” he whispered, voice deadly, “Now you pay.”

He yelled a battle cry, and charged with all his might, with his sword aimed at me. Fast he may be, but away I sped, faster than the fastest Jr. Pepe. Still, I could not escape his blade entirely. The piercing silver slid through the skin, and in between the two bones of my lower arm. Blinding pain soon came, and my vision started to blur.

I could not miss the blue sparks dancing around my arm though. The pain dulled, and all laws of physics were defied. I pulled the blade out of my own arm, and threw it to the ground. The wound healed up immediately.

What the hell?! I thought.

Slowly, with the entire audience watching me, I walked off the coliseum. After I had walked out of the main gate, I started running, never looking back. For blocks I ran, tears blinding my eyes, until I bumped into someone. I raised my head to see who it was. Ariel

Instead of her usual comforting words, she stared at me with a cold stare. “You’re one of them,” she said, “The rumors were true.”

I looked long and hard at her, and not longer saw the Ariel of yesterday, when she was my sister, and I was her baby brother. No longer did I belong here.

“I thought you were different, Ariel,” I said, “But I guess I was wrong.”

Throwing a scroll in the air, I disappeared.
