Banishing Ex-Hackers.. Right or Wrong?

[Note] Read the chat box of the picture. It’s people like her I wanted to confine. Not the little hackers that did it to explore, or hacked one level and thought it was wrong. 60+ is way out of limits. link

And oh yeah, if you’re going to read any of this post, read all of it before you reply to this thread. I’m already sick and tired of the same sh-t people have been telling me when I already f-cking wrote it in here.

I feel horrible right now. Before you continue to finish this post, I hope that you do not view me in any status of legitimacy, whether it be legit or illegit. Keep what you think of my character out of this. I was only trying to do what I felt was right. I was only trying to make a difference.

As many of you know, there is an unreleased but accessible map by exploiting a glitch. I will not reveal how to exploit this glitch, but I will explain what I tried to do.

To start off, my guild mates and I started speaking of rumors of how New Leaf City came with a glitch that included an inaccessible map with only one way in. We exploited the glitch and successfully came in the map.

It was all fun until we wanted to get out. There appeared to be a portal there, but we couldn’t go through it. It was an inactive portal. Also, Town Return scrolls did not work, for New Leaf City apparently didn’t support that function yet. However, there were small weak monsters such as those Golden Slimes and Purple Mushrooms.

To get out, we would have to get out the same way we came back in, which is only available and limited to one type of class. I’ll do my best to not reveal this procedure, but I may accidentally make it the obvious. Anyways, we started running through ideas fast, and we thought it was funny.

I left my friends in town and lured a few unknowing players into the glitch. Being it a trap we set up, I expelled them from our party, so they were unable to use us to get out of the map. They were stuck. We went back to town through the same method we came in with. We had good laughs leaving those kids in there for a few good minutes. We eventually released them.

Then I suddenly had a plan. We should imprison well known ex-hackers in that map. It would be a pain to get out. Call a certain kind of friend, dying from the godly little slimes and mushrooms, wait until the map is released, or if at all necessary, quit the character and create a new one. This was similar to being stuck in El Nath and unable to climb the Orbis Tower, except, there was no real easy way out.

So I put a few ex-hackers in there. I made sure by whispering to the players asking if they hacked, and how many levels. They told me however levels, and I tricked them inside. My new plan was to trap as many unknowing ex-hackers inside the map for the time being.

Many of them panicked, but I talked to a nice fellow. I felt heart-sick as to leaving people in such misery. Did they deserve this? They were ex-hackers after all. What’s it to them to lose a few EXP when they hacked it up themselves? It’s worth the frustration to get out if they’re clueless. Perhaps they’ll even quit and move on to a legit character.

But how could I discriminatingly put groups of ex-hackers inside a map they couldn’t exit? How could I treat them as lesser beings? They’re human after all. I acted harshly on these people. I thought putting them there would discourage hacking. Or at least put an end to the influence of ex-hackers trying to mingle with the legits.

I eventually explained how to escape. I gave them their only option to die. My members had to go to sleep, so they couldn’t rescue them.

But what’s been running through my mind is.. Was I doing the right thing? Did I have the right to imprison high leveled ex-hackers so they wouldn’t interfere and throw Windia off with unfairly gained items? Did I have the right to treat them as inferiors?

Or did I not have all these rights to act against these people? They’re just people trying to make the best out of their game and taking the easy way out by hacking. They’re people..

But I thought disciplining them would be the right thing to do. Less ex-hackers around, more free areas for the legits to play on. Less intervention, less unfair advantages. But was I right to act against these people to banish them with the intention of no return?

What I did felt right until they started to whisper me, begging to get out.

Was I right in exiling those who did not belong?
..or was I wrong in treating these people like lesser beings?

Although, I don’t think I’ll be banishing anymore to the place because it’ll lead to havoc and possible abuse. Also, it’s way to easy to get out if you’ve got the right friends..

But this is a moral question that I’m asking. I can’t decide on it right now. I’d like to know what you think.

And please, keep what you think of my character out of this. I was only trying to do what I felt was right.

  1. Bad Jing! Bad! D<

But seriously, in my opinion it would only be fine if they wanted to hack again, and solely for in-game profit, not fun or programming experience. Those ones don’t deserve it.

EDIT: Err, the ones that AREN’T doing it for pure profit, I mean.

  2. Im so dissapointed in you. Ex-hackers are people too, totally hacking people who mess up our game for there own gain and. . . wait I lost my point. But I agree with Ganzicus. Although I dont have a clue what he just said, I agree with him.

You didn’t read the last half of my blog, did you?

  4. Well, I don’t exactly agree with your method of locking ex-hackers up in some kind of jail.

    They’re ex-hackers.

They’ve hacked before, but either the patch pwnt them, or they’ve somehow went legit. [LOL.]

    [Edit]

Andandandandand I’m pleased that you let ’em out. ;]

    ./Evil.

If I ever thought of imprisoning them, I would have went out withut them. :l

  5. Lol. I’m sorry but I started to lmao when I read what you did. It was so delightfully evil, and I’m kind of in a bad mood right now, so just reading it made me a little bit happier. LOL. It’s like leading a noob that asks “mos3s plx” to the Sleepywood dungeons, saying you’ll give him some once you reach the ant tunnel, then you leave him there to fend for himself and die. Yes, I’m in a terrible mood tonight. XD

I don’t know about it being right or wrong. History has a long list of vigilantes. You were probably being one for MS. However I think if the GMs did find out you exploited this glitch you’d get banned, no matter what, even if you were trying to protect the world of MS from hackers. You felt what you were doing at the time was right, but now you feel (I think) remorse? If you were completely sure what you were doing was right you would feel no guilt.

I even asked my accomplices if what I was doing was right. They agreed, but I still was uncertain. So I gave up for the night.

Maybe. Maybe not. I dont know. Why you hasseling me! Well thats another thing off my list. Next thing is Airgo. Wait, I said that alot of times when my friend came over to play Super Smash Bros Melee. Next thing is. . . Why you standing there! Get away from me now! Another off my list. Now its time for. . .

  8. Hahhaha, nice trick, but it doesn’t matter who you do it to; hackers, ex-hackers, legits, they’re all the same, and they can do whatever they want.

I’ve never seen a hacker that was an ass.

But I’ve seen 96 legits that were an ass.

I don’t agree with the hackers/ex-hackers doing whatever they want. And as for the assy hackers, you probably haven’t been around with the right lot yet.

  10. Do you understand the economy of MS? I’m not a hacker, but around 70% of MS’ profits are from hackers. Also, unless hackers disturb you, it isn’t really neccessary to bite them isn’t it?

Don’t mess with hackers; theres LOTS OF THEM. LOTS OF THEM!

Anyways, a bigger problem then hackers are; unfriendly players. They defame you, ks you, for their enjoyment. And those illogical fools that makes no sence. MS is nothing without communications.

  11. Why would you be guilty of not being legit?

As long as you stopped. You’re still legit.

  12. Okay, listen. In a story, there is always a villain and the innocent civilians, >.>

Hackers are the villains, and they will always be there. They won’t normally bother you. Unless they bother you, you don’t have to do anything. They will always be hiding from you,

Doing that doesn’t make a difference to the hacker population.

And that what you did,,, was a nice trick but cruel. It makes you no better than those trickers and scammers, sorry to say that.

There is no reason to fight the villain unless they fight you first.

  13. Well, I’m all against hacking, especially if it’s hacking for 60+ levels. .__. It’s very unfair to those who’ve spent their time leveling their characters.

I think that people who have hacked (before or now) should have their IPs banned and accounts deleted, including characters, money, items, etc. ‘Course, this is a -pretty- harsh course to take, but I personally hate hackers with a passion. If I could, I’d lock all hackers with an unbeatable boss that they could never defeat and they’d just respawn in that hellish map. (I have had horrible experiences with hackers.)

Also, you felt like what you did was right. I don’t think that you should be judged on what you thought was right/wrong/etc. If someone tried yelling at me saying that something I thought was right was wrong to them, I wouldv’e told them to shove that idea up their–

But that’s besides the point. Don’t feel bad on what happened.

Even though you may disagree or not, I feel that banishing ex-hackers and hackers alike should have the same punishment. Thank you for reading.

  14. But hackers live in fear, knowing that they’ll get banned someday, that’s like a half life. So it’s fair.
