LEAFRE — First Impressions

So, first off, congrats to all the people making 4th job! Yay! I’m not one of them, but yay anyways.

Upon patching I traveled from Mu Lung to Orbis, and from there to Leafre. Ticket prices have become steeper, but they’ve been expensive in other versions of the game for some time.

I’ve seen a few people running around riding on hogs. I’m not entirely sure what the point of mounts is, aside from saying “lol I’m high level and spent 20 mil on an ugly chocobo”. Do they do anything?

Let’s see… Leafre. Looks pretty. Really nice job there. The town music isn’t too impressive, but the music once you get deep into the area and into the dragon nests is nicely dramatic. By the way, Leafre is HUGE, and I don’t think we got all of it yet, since I ran into a few sealed doors.
There’s a scroll selling guy somewhere in the wilds, and he sells 100% earring INT scrolls. Among other 100% scrolls. Sweet.
Traveled all over, more or less. Finished a few quests, got lost a few times… only died once.
Oh, yeah. These monsters, even the easiest ones, are tough. Mean. Like, I’m lvl 98. The littlest ones still do 900+ damage with their relatively dinky bump damage and attacks. The meaner ones do up to and over 3000 damage. Ouch. Makes me miss my dragon and his auto-potion. >< Went through 150 ginseng elixirmabobs in a few hours of puttering around Leafre. So, like the website and all says… come prepared.
Went as far as I could, which was to the entrance of the area where Horntail is. (pic) Fwee.

As for the supposed UI enhancements, I was disappointed because I didn’t notice the monster HP bars that we were supposed to be getting. Phooey.

  1. Yeah, I never saw the HP bars. Made me kinda mad. :/

I haven’t been to Leafre yet. I’m only 71, so they’ll kill me there, even with ice and teleport.

And you said chocobo! I officially love you.

I think we should have cooler mounts, though. I mean, come on. A pig. Seriously. Where are the flying mounts? Dragons? I’d love to ride a snail, even.

  2. The pink piggies are level 70 mounts, these blue boars are level 120 mounts, and red dragons are the level 200 mounts. Also, they have really good speed. Just the 70 mount alone gives you a higher speed than max Haste I believe. That’ll be sooo useful for Warriors. :D

  3. You’re supposed to turn on the HP bar function from the systems option; the most bottom choice. o_o

I haven’t been to Leafre yet, but I plan to~

  4. The littlest monsters there do about 400-500 touch and 500-600 magic.
I got hit by a 2k out of nowhere though, on one of those maps. So one of them, I’m not sure which, has a pretty mean earthquake attack D:

All I really did there (I’m level 58) was travel as far as I could in both directions before getting killed, waste about 100k in HP pots, and mess with some of the little bird-looking things.

Edit: I never did find the dungeonish place though. Highest monsters I saw were Kentaurus.

  5. I tried to log onto Maple.

    It patched.

It went to the Wizet animation.

    It went black.

    Maple shut down.

    GameGuard shut down.

    iTunes shut down.

    Mozilla Firefox shut down.

    MSN shut down.

    Microsoft Word shut down.

The link between MSN and Windows Live Plus! was broken and all scripts were lost.

    …

    STOP MOCKING ME, NEXON! D<

  6. Ganzicus shut down.

The link between MMOTales and Insanity was broken and all thoughts were lost.

  7. You have to turn on the monster HP and nametags under System Options.

And the hogs are a blessing for slow-moving classes like warriors and bowmen. They don’t have haste/teleport, y’know.

    Bowmen have thrust.
    Not like anyone maxes that though >>;
But warriors have like rush and monster magnet.
