The Maple Story: Episode 12

Sorry it took so long but here is Episode 12 to The Maple Story.

I woke up to the sound of someone crying. I opened my eyes with the little strength I had and saw that it was Amy and we were in the academy’s hospital.

“Amy, how long have I been here?” I asked while looking around.

“Just a little over 2 hours.” She replied.

I lay back down to get some more rest. I told Amy that she should go and not worry about me. She obeyed and left the room.

Eric came into my room 10 minutes later.

“Thanks for saving me, I owe you one.” Eric said gratefully.

“I’ll hold you to that.” I said laughing.

The nurse said that I was healthy enough to be let out. I left and took a nice long nap. An hour later, someone knocked on my door which woke me up. I opened it and it was Principal Josh.

“Hello sir.” I greeted him.

“I assume you read the letter that I sent you after your fight?” he said with a stern look on his face.

“Yes sir.” I replied.

“Why did you go down and fight the macis. You know that you are not strong enough. You better have a good explanation. You could have been seriously injured.”

I thought of Eric and decided it was better for me to take the blame.

“Well?” Principal Josh said impatiently.

“I just wanted to try it. I guess I over-estimated my skills.” I said disappointingly.

“I will let this incident slide… Next time think before you act.” He said.

“Yes sir.” I replied as he left the room.

Eric came to tell me it was time for dinner. I told him what happened with Principal Josh.

“You didn’t have to cover for me. I could’ve handled it myself. Plus your fight with Dan plus this puts you on every person on the staff’s watchlist. Now I owe you another…” he said.

We laughed and headed to dinner. As we sat down at our usual table, Amy and Melissa started bombarding us with a lot of questions. They were all worried about our health. Eventually they stopped and we all just ate and talked.

We had another assembly. I thought it was going to be about behaviour at the academy and on field trips. But I was wrong.

“Next week will be the start of a new unit involving all classes. It is a tradition for us to do this. Each student at the academy will be assigned to two different teams. Four teachers will be in charge of each team. Each student will be assigned to fight with someone on the opposite team according to their skill level. Sex does not matter.” Principal Josh explained.

At this point everyone started cheering.

“If you win the match, you will win a point for your team. The team with the highest amount of points at the end will receive a prize. However there are some rules. You must use the skills that you have acquired from your teachers. And also, you must not seriously injure the opponent. Match-ups have been assigned already and are posted on the door to each of your dorm rooms.”

At this point the assembly was dismissed and everyone rushed to their dorm rooms. Eric and I looked at our opponents. We were shocked. We looked at each other and back at the sheet. We couldn’t believe our eyes.

I love that ending. That’s probably my favorite ending to any of my stories. Next episode won’t take nearly as long as this one took.
