Chapter 1: Thinking About…Me
It was late in the night as a fire wizard of sorts walked out of the hotel they were staying at in Lubridium. “Well, at least it’s done”, said the fire wizard as she put away her wand and sighed having seen the last of aliens. She wondered why she was there in the first place, but laughed remembering it was her friends that asked her and she didn’t want to disappoint them. “I wonder what I should do”, said the wizard as she felt like she has the will to go on…lost the will to fight monsters…lost her will to be a wizard. ‘I hate this’, thought the girl as she walked away, back to the hotel where she was staying.
It had been a while since she returned to Victoria Island, she was kind of…glad. She had wanted to be a wizard of the fire arts like her brother, she knew she was as powerful as gifted as talented…but she was not that brave enough to show it. ‘I hate to admit it…’, thought the wizard who thought back to a battle with a Block Golem, she wasn’t able to hurt it at all. ‘They did’, thought the wizard depressingly as she remembered her cleric friend pushing her aside to take the blow. Her brother and another friend, a wizard of the ice variety, destroy the monster. ‘I am…’, thought the girl as she wanted to cry, but she couldn’t…she never cried before and she will not cry now. “I am strong”, said the girl who decided to think of how she got here to Lubridium…it was actually very funny now that she thought about it.

A few months ago…

“I DIDN’T MEAN IT”, said a wizard as he hid behind a few wooden boxes at the airship port in Ellinia. “Gin, you…you…MEANIE!” yelled the girl as she fired Fire Arrow, not as strong as her brothers, but still able to scare the wizard from trying anything to escape. “Hey you guys, don’t fight”, said a very…nervous cleric as he watched the girl turn to look at him. “Tino, RUN!” yelled Gin as he used an Ice Beam to knock some of the fire arrows off target, but some still scorched his new outfit. “Oh man, I paid 400k for this”, said Tino as the girl fumed and prepared another dozen arrows to fire, but was stopped by…her brother. “Sis, its time for dinner, can you guys come back now?” asked her brother as the ice wizard and cleric sighed, they were going to be toast if it wasn’t for him. “Alright”, said the girl happily as she walked back to where they were staying, a hotel ran by fairies that don’t distrust humans. “Thanks Jay…I am so glad you saved us”, said Gin who was sure if he didn’t show up…he and Tino would be mere smudges on the ground. “No problem, let’s get going before she eats it all…and one more thing, no more talking about you know what”, said Jay as the two magicians nodded, unaware that the girl had listened the whole time. ‘So it’s true…’, she thought that day…it made her feel like she was different, not part of this world…but she never though…her loving brother would believe that too.

She sighed again, she hasn’t seemed to forget the pain she felt that day…to know she was…different. ‘I don’t know where I should go’, she thought sadly as she had pretended to be normal, pretended to be fine, and pretended to be like everything as it should be. ‘How do I know that it should be like this?’ thought the girl as she took out her wand and looked at it. Even with the power of magic, she couldn’t change who she was…she couldn’t make things happen like she wanted and things never seemed to go her way. ‘I wish…I wish I…’ began the girl as she suddenly heard footsteps and turned to look behind her…no one. “Whose there?” asked the girl as she suddenly saw a Tick walking by and towards the clocktower…it must be trying to find where it belongs. “Funny, why can’t I be like that little guy…even if it only destroys things”, laughed the girl as she decided to not destroy it…yet, she decided to be nice today and let the monster be. “I wish…I wish there was something for me to do”, said the girl as she heard loud footsteps and turned around to see Gin…and JayJay. “Hey, we were worried when you didn’t come back…are you okay? Because if you aren’t, Jay is going to freak!” said Gin who suddenly noticed JayJay there, probably worried about her too. “Come on, before he burns something in the hotel, I doubt we can pay for it”, said Gin who ran back to report the news, he had to save their dinner! JayJay nudged the girl’s shoes before running after Gin, wanting to see it’s beloved friend and master.

The girl sighed knowing it was time to go…but knowing also that she wanted to stay out here by herself, it was…calming. ‘Oh well’, thought the girl as she gather up her things and didn’t notice a photo of her dropping from her pocket as she put her wand away. “Oh well, life is bound to turn for the better soon”, said the girl as she danced her way back to the hotel, never noticing that someone was there besides the Tick. He jumped quietly from the shadows and looked at the picture with curious eyes. The mysterious person picked up the photo and saw only the picture of she who talks to herself, a name was written on the back. “So…it’s Laren…nice to meet you and I ‘know’ we will meet again”, said the stranger as he ripped up the picture and scattered it to the wind, fading out of sight as if he was never there to begin with.
