I got something to report, boys and girls. Grimno and I have both noticed ‘XXX’ and otherwise ads popping up on this site, going so far as planting spyware and viruses on my compie. (Woohoo, go $2000 rustbucket laptop go!) So, I’m not sure why this is happening, on MMOTales only, but for the moment, I’m going to continue to be persistant and gather as much information as I can before my computer laughs and kicks the bucket on me.

So, if you could please, please.. if this happens to you, any ads, viruses, and stuff, post it here. Here’s what I want from you:
1.) Specifications of your compie (Operating system, processor, ram, more stuff the better)
2.) Where you’re connecting from (SBC, University network, ect.)

As a mod, I’ll do my best to get Cappie-chan to fix this problem, as soon as I figure out what the heck is going on. Wish me luck!

As far as MMOs go, I got nothin’. Lately, I’ve played on a bit of Silk, a bit of FlyFF, but nothing really to report on. But, so as not to break my own rules, I guess I gotta talk about something. I finally got almost 500 mil on FlyFF, uhm.. almost level 60 and a FS assist. Adopted a new level 68 character on Silkroad for a friend, it’s a kind’ve sad character, with screwed up stats, but screwed characters need love too!

Okay, I’m done. Talk to you soon and hopefully I can get this sorted out!

  3. Download Firefox and get the “NoScript” add-on, it should stop the popups… unless captain put them there… -shudder-

    I’ve personally never seen one of these, but it’s probably ’cause of the noscript. :/

    Ororor, maybe it’s something to do with the Google ads o.o;; Which NS can block too…

  9. I got what Ganzicus mentioned. Then I found out that it wasn’t necessary since FireFox originally has something that allows scripts to be blocked. My Anti-Virus helps with that too. . . but the NoScript is REALLY helpful, everyone should try it!

  14. Psst… two thousand is quite a lot of money to spend for a rustbucket. >.o

    I think Ad-Aware and Spybot have already been suggested, so I’d just like to mention AVG (antivirus), Windows Defender (spyware), Spyware Blaster (spyware), and HijackThis (BHOs), all of which I’ve found helpful. Obviously getting all of them might amount to overkill, but they’re all good programs with different uses.

    In addition to Iepiat’s post, might I suggest Kaspersky (top-of-the-line virus scanner) and avast! (virus scanner again). Both, like AVG, are very good and free.

    use Internet Explorer, but none of those popups came up
