I never intended to get into this mess of scrambling for Maple Weapons. I don’t need a Wagner, and it doesn’t look that good on me. However, for the sake of a friend (whom, I might add, didn’t even ask), I decided to take a break for one day from my relentless training and try my hand at it. I think I get the most joy from helping other people, so this would give me a wonderful opportunity.
And so, I left the quiet darkness of zombies so I could go to the smaller monsters to hopefully get a Llama staff for my dear friend. (I am aware it’s spelled ‘lama’.. but aren’t llamas so much cooler?) Being fresh out of Orbis scrolls, I hiked my way up the tower, which seemed to take forever, but in reality, it only took about 30 minutes.
Speaking of which, don’t you just hate how the Orbis tower is so easy to fall down, but so difficult to crawl up? It’s impossible with haste, so I waddle along slowly, feeling as though gravity is dragging me down. One of the many downsides to hunting at Zombies.
At any rate, I began my journey back to my home country, the beautiful and often noobish, Victoria Island. As I sat on the ship, I pondered Shmook’s expression if I did get him a Llama staff, amongst the masses of spam and noobs begging me quite rudely to kill the barlog.
But they didn’t bother me, however one 4x cleric, didn’t seem to understand why he could survive a hit from the barlog, and I couldn’t. I tried to explain that with his magic guard, he could take a hit easily, since his MP guarded him. But no matter what I said, he didn’t seem to understand, just kept trying to get me outside to try to kill it. No matter though, I thought, as I knew this all was for a good cause!
The moment I got off the ship, I was bombarded by haste and party requests, but I just ran past, a mob following right behind me. How could this be happening to me?! Last time I was in Vic was about level 57, and this never had happened then. But in the middle of Ellinia, I stopped suddenly, remembering a very vital factor. What even dropped these staffs?! So I turned around, faced the mob chasing me, and simply asked, ‘What type of monster drops these lama staffs?’. The response, was.. well ridiculous. I was met by a chorus of ‘MESOS PLZ!!111ONE’, but none of them actually answering my question. With a heavy sigh, I decided to just go in one direction and keep running till I ran into someone who could answer my question.
It wasn’t long till I came upon a friendly 2x mage, who kindly informed me that I could kill these at Horned Mushmellows, and literately no less! For his kindness and simplicity, I famed him and continued on my way. (Goodness, last night, when I wrote my last blog, I already wrote down what I could’ve found them at! But I didn’t remember that at the time..) I found myself in the mushmellow tree, and it was a mad house. Everywhere I went, it was just one KSer after another, people screaming at me to change channels. People have gotten so illiterate and down to the point where they were absolutely primitive, yelling ‘ccp’ and making that ever silly F5 face, defaming you if you stayed longer than 30 seconds.
Even in the first twenty minutes, I had lost 2 fame, and people decided to point out my freckles were funny. Not like this is anything new, I’ve never seen another character with freckles, and, thank you if you think they are ugly, that they look like pimples, etc. I really don’t care. I like my freckles, and I’m keeping them, no matter how many people say they look odd. I began getting quite jumpy, switching channels if anyone so much as looked in my direction with an F5 face, just to avoid another defame. I continued switching channels, again and again.. trying to find someone kind enough to share, or a channel of my own. (Unlike zombies, there’s enough room on the map to split it in two.)
Finally, finally! I found one channel completely free. It’s all mine, and I’m quite pleased, ready to get to work to find this staff. Not ten minutes into it, another bandit comes in, somewhere between late 2x and early 3x. He instantly asks me to ‘cc plz’ in n00bspeak. But at this point, I refuse. I refuse to give this channel up, when I’ve looked and looked and looked to find it. So he tries to KS me, but does a pathetic job, yelling at me not to kill-shot. Good grief! If I was kill-shotting, then you wouldn’t have come in here and tried to steal my channel.
He threatened me with some very vulgar curse words, and but the general gist was ‘I hate you, change the channel or I will mass defame and get stronger people to pwn your butt.’ in words that I could hardly understand. But I continued to hold my fight. I didn’t want to give this up, because I really really needed to find a staff.
Finally, he stops for a moment, then all of a sudden, disappears. At this point, I was overjoyed, tired of wrestling over a channel with such a noob. Triumphant, I thought, doing quite a dance in glee, I then continued my never ending search for the staff.
But it was far from over.
Suddenly, the noob, and two others burst in through the portal, taking out everything in sight. One was a level 82 priest, another was a 74 hermit. I nearly fell out of my chair at this false threat coming true, being KS’d over and over again. Each one passed, promptly defaming me, then continuing down their jolly paths, taking out every single horned mushmellow on the way down. They didn’t even leave a single one for me. Then they’d sweep again, climbing back upto the top, clearing every single one. The amount of horned mushmellows I got that time? Two.
This went on and on. I was getting frustrated. No one was on that could help me, and these were clearly clearing the channel, yelling mean things at me and such. They said if I didn’t change channels, they would find more friends to defame me. At this point, I pondered… ‘All this over a horned mushmellow tree?? What is the point?’ so, deciding to be the bigger man.. err, girl.. I left.
Perhaps this would be looked down upon by many of you for me giving up. But it wasn’t worth so many defames just to keep a tree that would’ve been impossible to hold by myself.. besides, it’s just horned mushmellows.. right?
Angry, I trudged back to Ellinia, deciding to try again in an hour, after I had calmed my nerves and written on here what had happened, which leads upto now.
Anyway, today, evil prevailed. Hopefully someday people will understand it’s not nice to ask someone to change channels when the other person was there first.
Evil sucks.

(MaskOfSmak pwns you.)
Yar, That always sucks, I’m so going into a Lama Staff drop area once I can equip mine and start showing off!
Though, you could always try the green mushies, platoon chronos, or zupins for a staff.
Ugh, I had the same problem with Platoon Chronos. I took the time to search out a completely empty channel, so as not to disturb anyone already training there. Having once been a Cleric, I understand that its really difficult to find the proper conditions to train in, and exceedingly annoying when people come and disturb the mobs that you’ve lined up to mass heal.
About an hour into my search, approximately 6 4x wizards come in, without a word, and each take up a platform. Now, typically my policy about map invasion is to just work around the people coming in. But when they’ve got every platform covered, what am I to do? After about 10 minutes of trying to pick off the ghosts they missed, I finally became overly flustered and decided to leave.
The burning irony of my story is this – we do our best when we enter a map to avoid killing other people’s kills (if you can possess such a thing), and still get griped at for existing. Yet its perfectly fine for a party 30 levels lower to come along and claim ours as their own.
Astoundingly logical. *sigh*
lol >.< so many ppl nowadays have become “crazy” and “obssessed” over every little thing that comes out in maple xP Funny story >.< it kept me entertained through study hall =x not that I actually get any studying done with all the noise here. Hope you have better luck finding that staff xP
God, I HATE people that do that. You’d be supprised how many clerics at platoon chronos and Zlupins just suddenly barge in and tell you to leave. It pisses me off so MUCH.
You should have tried to explain to the priest and hermit that you were there first and was looking for that staff for your friend. If you already had and they had just ignored you and kept KSing, I would have called for a mass defame and report.
People can be so stupid sometimes -.-. I was hunting peacefully at Wild Boars land, being level 28 rogue (stars), when suddenly a level 45+ bandit comes and starts killing right at my spot. After i’m killling a few monsters, she calls me “noob” a few times, and then the usual defame-and-leave,
Luckily, some friends chased her and defamed
But i dont understand what’s the problem to share, 5 minutes before that, i was hunting for an hour with a stranger, each on a diffrent part of the map, which was very fun >_> we exchanged drops information
If you ever need help holding down a place or with anything feel free to give me a call. I’m also in Bera, and my name is Summerclouds.
Bera is awesome
Same thing happenes to me but it was on wild boars -_-
bera is a good world but that problem CONTINUALLY bugs me
i was at copper drakes on false info for 1 min and a party of 8 lv 70+ comes and destroys everything for 1 hr straight

i went to fire boars and it was worse boar 1 was FULL and there were mages killing everrything in sight so even w/ my superior range and att skills, they woudlt let me touch a boar unless it was dead,
so
i feel for u man
really
*sigh*
well
time to comtinue my search for my soul searcher
There’s no doubt about it-ksers like those suck big time. It’s amazing what kind of agonizing and overly inconsiderate crap they’ll pull, all for the sake of a rare item or two. I’ve been fortunate enough not to have that sort of thing happen to me(yet), but it still sucks to hear about it. This is why I’m currently ignoring the Maple gear. Not that I don’t like them(the Wagner is sweet, from what I’ve seen), but the way other people clamor over them as though only they were allowed to kill them just isn’t worth anything you get from the monsters. I know for certain that wild boars are a huge target; I could barely get a kill in while I was gaining money for new gear!
As for giving up and leaving, you did the right thing. Yes, ksers and noobs hack me off, but it just isn’t worth the lost energy trying to fight them away. Sure, fighting does have its success, but from the example you gave, some people are either very tricky or just plain relentless. Just think, one day, those people may get a taste of their own medicine. Just keep being the awesome bandit you are, Mip! I’m sure you’ll find a lama staff soon.

Twenty channels, man. Twenty channels.
Hey, at least they didn’t get one in front of you. (Happen to me, hunting a Kandayo? Twice. I have no Maple items.)
I found a Maple Llama ( Cool, eh? ^.^) staff and gave it to my sister as I had no use for it.
