For the Addicted – a true remedy

IF YOUR ADDICTED TO MAPLE STORY or if YOU THINK YOU ARE , or IF YOU SPEND MORE THAN 2-4 HOURS A DAY ON MAPLE STORY, please i wish to the bottom of my soul that you spend like 5 minutes reading this blog/message/experience/w.e.:

first of all if just want you to know i put a lot of soul and thoughts into my blogs like this one, and this one is about maple story, why it is addictive, and how you should approach to quitting maple story, because in the end it is still just a game.

I do realize that there’s a group of young people like around 11-13 year olds, who in their current frame of mind, especially some stubborn ones, they may not have any “real-life goals” yet, and seeing how addictive maple is for these young kids, they continue to be sucked into it… i’m truly sorry for them.

but for those that DO have a teen/young adult conscience, you really do hope you read my message, because i’m a teen myself and if you don’t already know, you can learn a lot for other teen’s life experience.

ABOUT ME/MY EXPERIENCE:

well i play as LoVeHiNaAzN, lvl 123 dk in Khaini. you may know me as a buddy or just bumping into me. I do not hack or cheat and like the group of “high lvl” players, we spend literally our lives if not at least 8 hours a day mapling.
FOR WHAT?-you may ask

well for Ambition.

really, when you think about it, and this may apply to you: you spend so much hours either merchanting for meso, buying cheap scrolls and sell it big in your store, or spend hours hours training just to lvl up and “become the best, if not Second Best…”

so what’s all this for? simple, Nexon target young people’s AMBITION. we all wanna be the best. Get the best equip. GODLIEST weapon. RAREST items… ___EST, ___EST, blah blah blah…

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

ok, i wouldn’t put my age, but i’d tell you this. I was so addicted to maple that i quit school for it. unbelievable right?

you may ask what about your parents? and the principal? did they kick you out? i just didn’t go to school… simple as that. and yes my parents at first was all over me crazy and evil which got me to HATE them and more addicted to maple, because the “real life” sucked so much. AND just so you get the idea of the Time Frame here. i haven’t been to school for almost 2-3 years. yea sounds crazy. the school no duh chased me to the end, asking me about everything i was gonna do and what i have plan for myself. but i didn’t know how to answer and all i knew was that i wanna play maple story and achieve w.e. “Ambitions” i have.

stupid thing about GAMES is that, you CAN achieve the “best”, but at the cost of so much time/effort, which SHOULD be used for real-life applications.

and so i got 24/7 on my hands all i can maple blah blah, only until recently did i “realize” that ambition, which was to get to lvl 200, get really rich, and make godly items for my DK. so yea, i’m still only lvl 123… so that 2 years before, complete wasted. Its true. when you think back, you’ll see how much time you’ve wasted.

Life Lessons~

First you have to understand, in the real world, there is truly NO BEST. so you say well Bill GATES is the RICHEST man. he WAS the richest for a while, but not anymore. Like everything, you may be the best of something, but fall short on other things. like Bill gates never finished college o.0. (if you didn’t know).
–also there’s a Chinese saying, “for every mountain, there’s a taller mountain” – meaning no matter how best/good you are, there’s ALWAYS someone better than you in some way. ALWAYS.

its nature, and its how it keeps the world going. If you are the best at everything, just imagine yourself… how would that throw off the balance in this world.. and “best” is <-SUBJECTIVE. TALLEST can be a “best” and SHORTEST can be a “best” for another person… so there is no best due to simple contradiction.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

what makes you truely happy? if you can’t find this from anyone else or any website, i’ll tell you from personal experience. true happiness is UNDERSTANDING the reason to your life, and that is as i said: to LIVE IT and BE HAPPY.

Of course inorder to “live” or “be happy” you need certain things:
1) HUMAN INTERACTION—you NEED to interact with other people, friends are obviously a good one. YOUR FAMILY. you need to talk and understand ALL YOUR family members. because whether you know it or not, the person/s that truly love you are your parents. They gave you life.

-Just imagine your mom telling you that she’s gonna divorce and leave you and your dad because she can’t take it anymore. your dad isn’t the “best” dad and doesn’t impress her, and YOU after 15+ years of raising you, now all you do is MAPLE STORY, some FANTASY game, and doing nothing else. you will fell a sharp knife into your heart, understanding how USELESS you have been wasting your time on maple and not caring even your mother.

2) DEAL WITH PROBLEMS—we all have problems, whether it’s school, family, work, game, ANYWHERE. these “problems” is part of the process that everyone GO THROUGH in order to ENJOY LIFE. ya i know, it sounds contradicting… you have problems but you need it to ENJOY LIFE?

if you didn’t have problems, no problems at all, how would that feel? there’s nothing to compare to. you get w.e. u want and can do w.e. you want but you wouldn’t know what to do because you don’t know what life is about. Life is about solving problems and the feeling of accomplishment of being able to solve it/help solve it.

3) UNDERSTAND TIME—we only have 80-100 years at most…
Of course when you’re a teenager, you’ll say well i still got like 4/5 of my life ahead of me, i got plenty of time to do those “grown-up” things…if you never begin to do those “grown-up” things, when will you start? it takes an INITIATIVE.

This may get confusing for some of you because for those that are ADDICTED to Maplestory, all they do is MAPLE and don’t care about grown-up things like “college/school, work-getting a job, getting a MATE/Boyfriend/Girlfriend, buying a house/making your own FAMILY, reaching for your TRUE-ambitious goal like “curing cancer, building a humanoid, being part of the Fina lFantasy-game creating team, BLAH BLAH BLAH.” <–just examples.

~Also why do you think so many old people would sit down think about their lives and about their accomplishments. Some of them may have understand the true meaning of life, which is to enjoy every moment of it because that is the point of life itself. Theres no “always” happy ,or always “painful”…. because we know it’ll always be a 50/50 split. and that is LIFE so learn to DEAL WITH IT and BE HAPPY.

About Maple’s addiction:

OK, now back to Maplestory, since it is a GAME, there IS a “best” in terms of meso/perfect skills or stats/weapon stats/level/making most loyal friends? XD any other crap you can think off…

you have to understand ANY and ALL games are made purely to have fun, and release the stress in “the real world/real life” but of course many of us rather NOT have the TRUE PLEASURES of the Real WORLD and rather stay in this “VERY LIMITED” game world. all you can do is bounded by the laws of the game. If Nexon bans you if they simply don’t like you, AND THEY CAN, what do you have left? all the hard work for meso/glory GONE just like that.

well if say “I’ll never get banned, because i’m 110% legit, noooooob” … then your MISSING THE POINT! NOOOOOB!

if you’re that hard-headed from the addiction, what i mean is, your born in the real world, your job as a human being, being given a most precious thing of LIFE is to LIVE IT. yes the REASON or POINT of LIFE of your EXISTENCE is to live your life in a way that makes you TRULY HAPPY. Maple may make you happy for the period of time your Playing maple story, so if they close down the game, or when you have to go to college and you have to manage other things, then you gotta MOVE ON.

————————————————————-

Afterword:

I’m not sure if i have gotten the message through you, but for all you addicts out there, i’m an addict, and because of that i know how it feels to be an addict. life’s so hard you’d rather live it in a game. But then you realize that there are some moments in life that makes you TRULY happy, with friends or with discovery of something that amazes you, or eat your favorite food, or anything that makes you TICK.

and life is about finding out what are those things that make you happy and enjoying every bit of it.

so please don’t get sucked into a game simply because of an “ambition” to achieve the “best” in a game, which you cannot do in the REAL world. i GUARANTEE that you will realize on in your life, that the time you spend on maple is truely a waste of time.

i have wasted 2-3 years, and i know how that feels also. I’m currently stuck with 0 actual friends, not in school, barely in touch with my parents, and in a situation where i really have nothing, besides maple. I don’t want anyone else to go down the same path i went. so what are my plans…? well I’m not that desperate, i do have lots of backups, and with the unlimited possibilities in this world, its up to me to explore it, just like you explore maple story.

AND THIS GOES FOR ALL GAMES, NOT JUST MAPLESTORY. SO GET A LIFE WE ADDICTS!

  1. Wait, let my brain process this.

Brain: Processing. Processing. Warning. Overload. Overload.

You quit your education to play an online game?

I’m sorry, but that’s just pathetic.

  2. i heard it took 3 hardcore addicts on rotating shifts to ger MrYaNdAo to 200. i saw a screenshot belonging to
a 200 player in TMS, and o.m.g. i looked at the xp bar. 1-2 million xp for ONE PERCENT. I was level 6X then and it took me about a million to level
with an extra 200K xp every level.

im not a maple addict but i do hate real life at the moment. LOL i cant even become a WoW addict.
RL: i hate school- its a total snob hole and human interaction is socially inappropriate in my city everywhere. you say hi and ppl look
    at u like W.T.F.
and ppl get so agro really fast in Vancouver, it sucks. the only reason i got up to 71 was because of the PQ’s and
since pirate PQ is super lame, i dont forsee much levelling.

  3. Wait. You’re telling us to quit, when you haven’t quit too? C’mon! Enjoy the glory of life! Are you going to spend the rest of your life playing MapleStory with the stuuuuuuuuupid Nexon just to level up your DK to lvl 200?

    NO!

What are you going to do after you get to level 200? Have you even thought of your future? Your goal in life? Have you thought what your purpose in life is? If you think that it’s playing games, then, I can guarantee that you’re wrong.

Be strong and kick Nexon away! Find something else to do. Go out and play some sports. Make some friends. And if you really, really, are addicted to the game, make your own game, get addicted to that, and get money for it! Simple as that really.

It is never too late to quit. I know some people who smoked for several years (that’s way worse than addicted to games) and they quit from smoking. They DID go into withdrawal, so I suppose you got to limit yourself to play like, an hour at most. Then gradually cut the time you are playing, and then you won’t be addicted anymore.

And most importantly, you sound like you might be a high school student. It is never to late to go back to school, earn your diploma, and get on with life.

I doubt you even enjoyed the wonders of life yet. Have you visited Paris? Have you visited Hawaii? Have you visited Las Vegas? [zomg. t3h pwnZ0rz! Money money money! Btw, don’t get addicted to gambling. Not that I am.] Have you visited the Carribean Islands?

    I DOUBT you have.

Muster up your strength, press that button and get outside and be active!

Also, all this that you typed up, this should actually inspire yourself to quit too. If you got the time to type this up for all of us here to tell us how that evil Nexon is and their virtual nicotine, then you could probably spend as much time as you did typing this up to do some activity and stay away from your computer.

I may not know you, but I believe in you.

Because I think you are MIGHTY!

    So good luck!

  4. My grandma smoked since she was 16, and she just quit a year ago when she turned . . . 72 I think. And she had no problem quitting, too

  6. This made me think.

QUITTING AN EDUCATION FOR A GAME?

And sorry bout your mom leaving you and your dad.

  7. I’m still in shock about how you dropped out over a game. o___o

Like, wow. Just. . . wow.

    Sorry. D:

    Thats what I said o_O

    Just wow.

  9. You should play Maple when you’re about to die because then you won’t have anything else to do.

    Bucket List!

  10. To me games were made to kill time. Nothing more then to kill time. Except those motion games such as DDR. ITG, ect.

Dropping school for a game isnt worth it. Not sure how that crossed your mind but I hope the best luck in life for your.

I think everyone should stop playing MMORPG games when they are seniors.
