The Power of Idiocy

[interactions with DarkSLN90 inspired todays entry]

i could, and eventually will, give u the full details on how i came to exist in this world we call maplestory. but for now, ill just give u the short n’ skinny: i play MS to train and to meet nice ppl.

that being said, i must confess im finding it hard to do either. mSEA recently opened up ludi, so i took the inexpensive ride over from Orbis. after a few days of completing all of the quests, i decided to go check out the critters and see what i could train on. hmm. at level 60 there were not many choices left. i could either try master chronos, or try buffys or teddies. both buffys and teddies are fairly similar. i could dispose of them, but exterminating their bigger, more advanced relatives seemed to b a much more difficult task. clearly, staying there would not b efficient training.

i headed on over to master chronos. now these guys seemed decent. i had sold some tobi and the rest of my icicles to buy some scrolls for my claw. with the price of tobis so high, wouldnt it b fantastic to find some from drops? yah right.. i must b dreaming. well apparently i wasnt. on my first day of training there, i found some tobis within 15 minutes. woot. that motivated me to stay there longer.

so now here i am, a week later. granted, ludi is still brand new and people have yet to explore all the wonderfully colorful rooms. but u would think that people would have the same common sense no matter where u are. more specifically, its pretty obvious that training on a big map with 1 person is less productive than having several people train together. most people learn this simple fact by the upper 30s or so, when they start training on boars. sure u could train by urself, but u could kill more monsters in a shorter amount of time if learn to cooperate with others and share a map. this means less traveling for ur player, and more spawns of monsters, therefore increasing the amount of kills that u accumulate.

is that really such a difficult concept? ive been at master chronos for more than 1 full level. and ive only had a few occassions where 4 players actually trained together harmoniously. *fyi there are basically 4 levels of the map.* 75% of the time when i entered a channel, the player already there just ignorantly splurted out, “cc pls”. to that i responded with, “sure, u can have the whole map to urself. along with an incredibly slow spawn rate…” do people not get it? there are, hmm, let me count, actually 6 floors within that map (if u count the very small upper and middle-left floors) of lost time2. thats not even counting all the jumping u have to do from side to side, and climbing on top of the plentiful boxes throughout the room.

today i thought id cut out all the excess bs and just get straight the point. “anyone want to train with 4 people on a map for maximum spawn rates?” to this, i get the expected “cc pls”. not a single person was keen on my idea. they all wanted to train seperately on their own map. finally i got to one channel, repeated my message, and received a different response. omg! “ive finally reached someone with an intellect.” i murmured. oh wait. he didnt want to train together afterall. he told me i could have the map after he finished training 3% more. wow lucky me. “er, uve missed my point.” i told the nearby bandit. “i dont want the map to myself, i want to train with others to get more monsters on the map. with more people we can kill faster, get more money and experience, save time, and save energy jumping up and down.”

i kept cylcing through the channels, hoping to find a sympathetic soul. isnt there anyone out there who wants to train efficiently? nope.. guess not on this day. “hey” said the bandit, “u nvr thx mi”. i immediately reflected on the situation, but could not figure out what he was talking about. “u nvr thx mi” he quickly repeated. “im sorry.” i said. “thank u for what?”

i couldnt understand what he was going on about. “duh” he said. “i giv u map n u dun evn thx mi.” to b honest, i was stunned for a few moments. it was as if i was watching a really bad movie. my mind was just kinda blank. “did he just say what i thought he said?” yes, he did. “um, i wasnt asking *for* your map.” i stated. “i was looking for partners to train with since its such a big map.” he didnt seem interested in listening to me. i explained to him that the bigger the map, the more amount of time would b wasted traveling from top to bottom, left to right for 1 player. this just infuriated him more. “im gonna get ppl to ks u then.” were his last words, before leaving for the lovely town of ludi. too bad they never came, i could have finally got a good spawn rate going…

  1. Wow! That was really good! Especially the last line made me crack up. People don’t understand that concept, and it’s a shame. I don’t train on too many big maps, I don’t train to often. I’d love to train with somebody who knows as much as you, and understands stuff like that, but I’m in GMS.
