Someone made the insightful comment that the new Amoria Hairstyle quest takes the five ugliest and least popular hairstyles and gives them to a bunch of suckers, so that we (suckers) then have to turn around and buy NX Cash to fix it.
I think they were right.
Even though I liked my default Edgy, I thought, “Oooh! Free hairstyle, why not?” and promptly received a Polly. That hairstyle is the fugliest thing to grace 2-D gaming since… well, since ever. It just looks bad. Regretting the stupid quest immediately, I whipped out the good old, over-used credit card and bought some NX Cash for the first time.
I’d put off buying NX Cash since I started Mapling last fall because of the rampant hacking. I mean, who wants to donate to a game over-run with botting on every channel? But since Nexon took charge recently and the GMs really started banning hackers, I decided it would be okay to spend some money on it. The ugly Polly on my head helped convince me, as well…
So I purchased $30 worth. Maybe a bit much for a first try, but I figured that it would last me for a while. Wrong. I quickly discovered that cute hairstyles don’t always stay cute once you put a helmet on. Take Miru, for example. It’s a pretty adorable look by itself, but once I put my neko mimi on it looked like a bowl cut gone wrong. So I tried an invisible hat and got along allright for a while… until my boyfriend commented that the Miru hairstyle made me look like that girl from Napoleon Dynamite. O_O
After rounds of experimenting (and purchasing another $15 worth of NX Cash), I’ve decided to stick with what I’ve got on. I survived just fine before I got NX, so why do I need it? It’s rather expensive, and why spend that much on a bunch of pixels when I can take myself out to dinner?
The credit card is going to a dark, dark place and I am not letting myself buy any more NX Cash… at least until the next billing cycle. Heh.

I would like to hope that the quest isn’t fixed ¬_¬ but you never know. I mean, it is a rather lucrative idea. I play on Khaini, (Don’t laugh, but it was the first world I saw on the list when I signed up, and I was in a hurry to start Mapling XD) I think MS global is really improving. The recent mass bannings have definitely raised the game in my opinion, and I’m hopeful about the new towns coming out soon.
