[Maple Mysteries, Curse of the Dragon[3]]

“Will this tracks ever end?” Complained Plaren as he followed my lead.
“We’ll just have to follow it and see. DUH!” I mumbled as I followed the tracks and turned when the blood trail turned and ended up crashing into a tree.

Plaren burst out laughing when he saw me crashing into a tree.

“Harharhar.” I muttered as I continue following it.

After following the tracks like what seemed like eternity, it finnaly stopped.

“A WILD GOOSE CHASE!! JUST WHAT I WANTED!” Grumbled Plaren angrily.
“Wait, there’s more to this than meets the eye…” I said and I bent down.
“Like what could happen? You bend down and a secret door opens?!”

As if he said the secret words, I pressed down on the blood, and a secret trapdoor creaked open. It was hidden behind the tree. Plaren was shocked, mouth gaped open. As I scraped away the blood, I found a lever. It seemed quite old, but at the same time, new as it didn’t creak when I pushed it. I proceeded down the small tunnel cautiously. Plaren followed behind me as I took a step slowly down. Than that was when I noticed what I was stepping on. It was stairs! That also means that this was recently used as nobody will build a stupid staircase in the middle of nowhere right? And the blood trail continued down the stairs. As I trotted down, Plaren suddenly lose his footing and crashed onto me. We came tumbling down the stairs, and the commotion was so loud I thought it could wake the dead.

“Ow..” I groaned and tried to get up. Plaren was already up on his feet. “That trip was… erm… interesting.” He muttered. I groaned and tried to get up again. My back was aching like hades and I think that my leg had broken. Plaren helped me up and apologized to me. As we continued down the tunnel, I wish I had turned around. If I had turned around, we might still have time to stay out of Lydia’s buisness. If I turned around, I could see the Native people and have ran out of here, safe and sound.

But did I turn around? No…
