Wayeb.exe {Prologue}

**** READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE GOING FURTHER ****
The following is a short piece of fiction that I have written. In my personal opinion, it is ok, but not great, nor is it horrible. At first, it dose not seem to be MMO related, but near the end, it does connect. If and when I make more sections / parts / chapters, it will be much more MMO heavy. Please leave comments, or just a scale on 1 to 10, 1 being less entertaining then half a USB wire, and 10 being better then a stack of fresh cookies (any type you wish)

This is inttended to be a Mysterious, Comedic, and Dramatic Fanfic Epic type thing.

**** Prologue ****

The thick city air was cold and damp. The brightest of stars blacked out by the thick blanket of clouds hanging over. Drops of rain slammed hard at the taxi cabs roofs as they slowly drifted through the night, returning everyone back to their homes for a few precious hours of rest, only to return promptly the next morning.

Amidst the ocean of buildings, one stood above them all; watching over everything like a hawk hunting the mice below. In this one structure, high up on floor 133, a single computer screen still glowed. In front of the monitor sat a woman, her long black hair tied back in a think bun and a slender pair of glasses sitting across her face. Her deep green eyes gliding over the codes rushing past at remarkable speed, one only matched by the rhythm of her fingers as they preformed a furious dance along the keyboard.

Hours she had been sitting, working franticly to finish her project long after the others had left. Alone in this task, she strived with all her power to complete it before she was discovered. With a thunderous “thwack” she slammed the Enter key, leaving a small crack down its center.

“There’s still hope,” she whispered to herself as the computer sent her documents to their proper place. She stood up swiftly to make her exit, but spied the elevator door as it shut on the lifeless sea of cubicles. With a motion so fluid and agile, like it had been done a thousand times before, she seized the keyboard of the still active computer and hurled it over her shoulder and turned to see it smash into the face of a man just behind her.

Before he could react, she was already gone. He heard glass break and turned just quick enough to see as the woman exited the room via the now broken window, leaving nothing behind but a hair tie and a few drops of blood on the window shards. He made a dash to the window and pushed his head through. Nothing was to be seen but the shadowy streets below.

He returned to the computer, but it was too late. There was no hope of stopping the application that had been triggered and was now wiping every drive clean. His attempt was a futile one.

“That <<censor>>!” he cursed to himself as he shoved a small hand gun back into his coat and marched back to the elevator, not noticing the letters spelling “Caps Lock” now lightly printed backwards just above his left eye.

She let out a small sigh as his avatar vanished from the map. She glanced over to check the time, though she knew it must be near three in the morning. Disapproving of her actions once again, she tapped the Escape key and selected “Quit Game”.

When the screen faded black, she got up and made an unavailing attempt to pick a shirt to wear the next day. After realizing that there was still another month of summer vacation, she concluded that picking out cloths was better left for the time when she needed them.

Stepping back over to the computer she glanced at the large “Maple Story” banner in the corner, followed by a tap of the mouse on “Quit” and again the screen faded to black. The desktop once again painted itself upon the screen along with the usual ad banner, and Sydney ordered her computer to shut down. Just before confirming the command but too late for a proper reaction, a notice caught her eye:
