MSEA and GMS: Equal?

While prodding and hurrying the .26 Patch along, something dawned on me about the two (currently) English-oriented versions of Maple Story (current, as MapleEurope has yet to be fully released). So here we go.

Title explanation: It really should be something like, “Why do MapleSEA and MapleGlobal have to be Equal?” but that was a bit long, so I decided to go with this.

I’ve noticed for a while that a lot of people compare MSEA and GMS through means of worlds and challenges. The most common-based arguments center around the fact that MSEA has Aqua Road and Ludibrium, and recent arguments have concluded that GMS currently outstrips MSEA because we have Ludibrium, Omega Sector, and Zakum, and will be getting Aqua Road with Patch .26.

I just want to raise a point of view that, while it is my own opinion, I think stands to be reasonably true. IF MSEA and GMS were meant to be equal, Global would not have lagged so far behind SEA in the summer of 2005. I, myself, have been playing since verion .06, and I know of several players who were from those slow, uneventful versions, and the players of Global’s Beta Testing can also give feedback on it. Also, if the programmers could make it so that the versions were all equal, we would probably be as advanced as the Korean and Japanese versions by now, if Wizet wanted to make each of their game versions the best they could make them. But, *gasp* look, now Maple Europe is going to be so far behind! Nooo~! *melodrama*

So what if the games aren’t equal? If you don’t like one, switch to the other. But stop whining if you don’t want to “give up your precious character” to play another version. If nothing else, Global acquiring Aqua Road just proves how demanding its players are and how (I can’t believe I’m saying this…) hard its programmers are trying to please. Not that we ever can be pleased, but whatever.

It is a game, after all, and as with all games, you play with what tools you are given.

Oh, and thanks to Renome for supplying this: Link

My thoughts on Aqua Road: I’m excited. New areas to explore and die in always make me happy. xD And I’m curious as to how one would cast elemental magic underwater. =P

Two more hours. I think I might go take a nap first…

Edit: So MSEA doea have Zakum, sorry, my mistake! Don’t go biting my head off just because I don’t keep up with that version. o_0
