Nexon has finally gone overboard.
They effing sued OdinMS! Just because that servers is 5 jillion times better and its free does not mean its evil! I am so pissed at Nexon, why don’t they just scam some money, and leave us alone, leave Maplestory back Wizet, I’m sure they can find a much better sponsor. I am on Arber at the time, but I’ve spent weeks training my character on Odin, now its all gone.
Oh, and guess what? They sued they for 350,000 Euro! Thats $543,119 in USD and $552,713 CND! If I was allowed to swear, this blog would be full of em. Nothing is final till they go to court. Hope Nexon loses and has to pay money.

  3. Spade spends a lot of time on MMO, o_O And don’t complain please, you already knew that private servers weren’t legal. It’s not if you trained a level 67 page on bellocan for a solid 2 months before when there was only KPQ and LPQ and none of the new towns out, stockpiled him up with over 100 mil mesos and some great equips (at the time) just to see it all float away when some bugger hacked your account did you?

  4. I guess Nexon just can’t handle the loss of what’s essentially a HANDFUL of POTENTIAL customers to private servers.

    True, private servers ARE using their intellectual property and code without their permission. But. . .
    But. . .
    Really, what kind of defense can be made against that?

    I don’t see why Nexon’s gotta be like dat, though. Like I said, there can’t be a significant percentage of Maple Story players who play private servers- that would be absurd. But I suppose a loss of even 1% of the profit shows up on their charts, huh?
    And say that this works. All the private servers get shut down. Everyone who played them isn’t going to go back instantly to regular Maple Story- I don’t even think that a fifth of private server players could ever go back to regular Maple Story, myself included. And out of that twenty percent- how many of those players would go out and buy more cash cards after Nexon effectively screwed them over?

  6. Yeah, I believe Nexon has all the right to sue Odin for it. It’s a bit like pirating music, eheh. People don’t make money out of it, but it’s a loss for the original creators. ~

  8. OK there, I don’t know who you are but I don’t care. Now let’s see how this is like. . .

    Let’s say you’re the head of Nexon and create Maple Story. Now you spend hundreds, maybe thousands dollars a month maybe, to keep Maple Story alive and running, not to mention all the other games espically Mabinogi. So you put up the Cash Shop and have people pay money for NX for the little trinkets and clothing and pets. OK so Maple Story is going steady like, working well and stuff. When suddenly, BOOM!, someone takes the data from the server and create a Private Server.

    At first the Private Server isn’t well known so people don’t go to it much. But then, players find out they can level triple as fast than in the official server so more people drop out. Then they find out NX is dropped from monsters or can be bought from NPCs. OK so about half a year is over and almost half the Maple Story population is gone, playing in their little non-legit worlds. You, the head of Nexon, finds out that you’re losing more money than you’re earning from NX sales. So what would you do? Let all Nexon games fall and crash from lack of money sales? More and more people will drop out until you’re making no money at all. The only option left is to sue obviously.

  10. I think just Odin, since Odin is the most popular and well known.

    I don’t think Darkie will get sued, since the Pserver is only for MMOT only, and if he doesn’t advertise as much, then I bet he won’t get sued.

    But that’s exaggerating a bit, isn’t it? I mean, not everybody supports pservers, and people quit reg. MS all the time anyways. . .?
