Effective White Pang training (Fizards)

I have just finished my last 24 hour x2 experince card and I feel really refreshed. Now closer than ever to the 3rd job advancement (annikabelle can back me up on this) at lvl69 with 38%, I am prepared to take on whatever is gonna be thrown at me with the upcoming 62%. Basically, I am gonna grind on white pangs till my teeth hurt.

SUMMARY
When I first decided to pay white pangs a visit at lvl65, I was horrified. The spawn was hideous, with only 3 columns of 9 white pangs running around. My first impression was that grupins were going to own white pangs in spawn big time, so I went back to grupins to train. Boy I was wrong. If any of you try finding an empty map of white pangs and train there, you will realise you are getting horrible experience. The white pang map, Wolf Territory V, is actually a pretty ideal map for those lvl66 and above. Let me share with you my experiences and how I got the most out of my training.

SHARING
If you are still in the mood to be stuck up and keep a whole map to yourself, go back to grupins. Maple Story is also partly about socialising and Wizet ensures that. But of course do not be dumb as to blindly share a map with a witty stranger and have him/her take advantage of you. Here are some pointers to note when sharing:

1. ALWAYS ALWAYS take the top bridge. The map is split into two parts when there are two people; the top and the bottom. The top consists of the top bridge while the bottom consists of the middle and bottom bridges. Fire wizards have not the power of agility, considering the speed of fire arrow, and training in more than 1 level of white pangs will cause wastage in travelling time. Many other jobs, however, also prefer to take the top, especially warriors. In my personal experience sins are often the most willing to let you have the top.

2. If there are 3 people in the map, take the top or the middle bridges. If others want you to take the bottom, change channels. Do not worry, there are better training oppurtunities than staying at the bottom.

3. This applies for both 1 and 2. Never share a map with anyone under lvl65. They cannot kill white pangs quickly enough as to give you a good spawn unless they are strong for their level. If you see another fire wizard training at the middle and bottom bridges, do not take the top. He/she canot kill efficiently and will affect your spawn significantly.

4. The bottom slab of ice below all 3 bridges is crap. Heed no attention to it.

TRAINING

1. Musts to bring-
Blue Snowshoes

2. Attacking routine:
Let’s say you have everythig ready. You are taking the top bridge while the middle and bottom bridges happen to ksing grounds between mryandao, ossaris and jessbunny (fat hope!). Each white pang below lasts no more than 1 second and you expect to see a million white pangs on your bridge. What!? Only 3?

Yes the spawn can go no more than 3, no matter whether it happens to be what I depicted just now or occupied by a lone lvl1 beginner. It doesn’t matter, just kill them. In fact, the moment you kill 3, another 3 pop out almost immediately! Do not be fooled by appearances, below the three white pangs are a million waiting to spawn eagerly. (This is only possible depending on how quickly your map sharing partner is handling the other white pangs.) After 30 minutes you will realise that the spawn IS good.

3. Your best attack methods would be to pummet the white pangs with two fire arrows first and calculate the damage you took quickly. Did you take 5800 with both hits or more? If you did not quickly finish it with a magic claw. White pangs that have just spawned often run in different directions immediately so you may want to cast a quick slow so they cannot get far. Teleport whenever necessary as 13 mana is nothing compared to a second saved. If you have not maxed teleport at this level go see a doctor.

DEALING WITH BOREDOM

1. We all find training at a certain monster for long hours boring, but this comes with a cure! Notice how sometimes when you kill slowly, more white pangs wil spawn before you can finish all three existing ones? This signals that you are not killing them quickly enough. Normally white pangs respawn in 3’s every now and then. But if you have not cleared all 3 of them, enough will spawn only to enable 3 in the map. For instance, if there is still 1 white pang left and it reaches respawning time, only 2 will spawn instead of 3.

If you can kill all 3 before they respawn, wouldn’t it be great to know that you are training well? But this is never always possible. At times you will definitely find it impossible to kill all 3 before they respawn, especially if you cannot 2 hit them 100% yet. On the bright side, this adds to the accountibility of having a good spawn rate! Try to kill 3 three before they respawn each time. Suddenly you will find yourself furiously hammering at the white pangs in attempt to finish them before they respawn. In no time, blue light surrounds you and before you know it, you are a step closer to 3rd job!

I hope this guide has helped all fire mage-wannabes. Good luck to all mapling! F/Ps rock on!

PS: A pic of me and my requiem! Ugly exterior look but sexy stats!
