The Legend of Alishar, Chapter 9.

Note: I’m back! By popular demand! ~Weeh. . . all of my ‘liked it’ signs on my MMOID are green, and I almost hit 15k blog views o_O~
I’ve also acquired a few new writing skills,so my stories will gradually become more descriptive. Mostly, my chapters are filled with action, cause, and effect. Now I know so many more elements to add.

It’s been over a month since I wrote on the Legend of Alishar, so let’s recap:
-John has a bow and is stuck in the woods, surrounded by golems.
-Mark is on his way to Kerning. He has a dagger and is going to study under the Dark Lord.
-Luke and Matthew were just in a gang fight. Matthew looted 5 Steely knives, and Luke stole a dead guy’s two handed sword.
-Alice encountered Grendel and chastised him for hurting the forest.

Sunlight streamed through the small clearing in the woods. Life was abundant- birds flew and twittered, the dull hum of bugs chirping clouded the air, and the moist leaves of the trees shook as they were rustled in the wind.

Artruro strode through the forest, whistling a slow, cheerful tune. He marvelled at the glow of nature surrounding him, always busy and fertile. Suddenly, he shook himself, steering towards the task at hand.

“Grendel! Alice? Are you there?”

The humming woods gave no answer. A few birds fluttered to distant trees, startled by the Artruro’s intrusion.

Artruro sighed. He would have to go inside and look for them. . .

Alice sat upright, eyes wide open. She had been in a dreamlike state for hours. The sun was nearly touching the blue, frothing waves of Lith.

Thud.

Wide awake now, Alice glanced around, trying to find the source of the disturbance.

Thud.
What was that noise?
Alice snapped upright, frightened now. Was the sound coming from the forest?

Thud.

Yes, it was! She hurried along through the underbrush, headed for the main source of the noise. If that noise was caused by Grendel again. . . Was he still cutting down trees. . .?

Thud.

Alice shivered hesitantly. She could feel a strange, ghostly presence in the woods around her.

“Alice! Grendel! Anyone there?” It was Artruro’s voice, coming from the south.

Alice steered away from the voice, anxious to determine the source of the disturbance.

Thud.

There it was again! Alice ducked low to the earth. Peeking from the shallow undergrowth of the woods, she diverted her eyes towards the direction of the source.

There it was. A dark, large monster that was as tall as it was wide. The body was veiled by the oncoming darkness, and it was clothed in shadow. Its glowing, malicious eyes stood out from the dark, so enchanting yet frightnening that Alice hardly dared to stare at it.

Alice screamed. “Artruro! Run!”

Grendel heard a single voice shrieking from the northern part of Lith Forest. He sighed, glancing down at his broken attempt at a boat. It would need a lot more work. . .

The voice trilled again. Who was that? It sounded familiar. . .
Starting off at a low trot, Grendel jogged past the clearing and into the woods, towards the direction of the voice.

Thud.

The ground shook, knocking Grendel into a tree. Disoriented, he glanced up and saw . . .

“Oh my God!!”

It was the creature he had seen from the previous night.

Am I dreaming again? He thought. Am I still drunk?

“Grendel, run!” Alice’s voice called to him from the south. Was he hearing things?

“Grendel! You’re going to get killed!”

He saw her now, holding onto her brother’s hand. The monster loomed closer towards Grendel, hungry for flesh. . .

He jumped up and ran, fleeing towards the direction of Lith Bay with Alice and Artruro. . .
