When the Good Give In… to Hacks.

Before I start, let me clarify: No, I have NOT given in to hacks, and I NEVER will.

Okay, I don’t know about gMS’ other four worlds, but over the past couple of weeks in Bera there has been a HUGE increase in the number of vaccers. I mean, the growth of hackers has become exponential and way out of control. It was either yesterday or Friday where I saw four vaccers alone in Omega Sector.

However, although I downright hate hackers, there’s only one thing that bothers me even more than a one straight on, and that’s one that actually played the game legit and established a good rep, then started hacking.

Not only has there been a large growth in the number of hackers, but it seems that a LOT of people, people that have spent MONTHS playing the game legit, people that have contributed to the game by buying NX, are jumping on the bandwagon and putting those wasted months to waste. I’m gonna share a couple of experiences I’ve had with these types of people. I know I’ll probably get in some deep ca-ca by giving names, but I’m going to point them out anyway. In no way am I trying to call them out.

CASE #1: TheTimeArrow

It always seemed to me TheTimeArrow had a good rep. From some of my encounters with her she’s seemed very friendly, and her occasional megaphone mimics this. I had also seen that she was a legit player. (I was a level below her before I left on a 10 day vacation to florida, and she was only 4 levels above when i got back.)

However, most Beran Zakum JQers know the story. TheTimeArrow became a renowed flyhacker at Zakum JQ, and hacked her way to 70. At the same time, she also got ahold of Godmode, as I learned when I saw her on her male cleric once. Her good rep swayed me to not report her, but it doesn’t make it right.

These are the types of hackers that make me sad. I’m sure that TheTimeArrow spent months just getting to level 50, spent a good deal of her (or her parents’) money in the CS, and now that’s all been wasted. I really hate to see someone take that much hard work and put it on the line.

CASE #2: BandiBev

You might know her as a movie maker named bevee on YouTube. My friend Omair knows her, and her movies seemed to show her of a somewhat colourful personality. (I wouldn’t know for sure though.) She seemed like a very nice person, and was accomplished enough to reach level 50 that she recorded it.

After she had a short hiatus, I found myself in a messenger convo with Omair and her. She revealed that, just like TheTimeArrow, was using flyhack and godmode.

The reasons for both of these cases baffle me. By now, you’d think anyone who reaches level 50 knows how much hard work it takes to get that far, so why? Why start using hacks that could potentially erase all your hard work? Why risk it? It’s terrible that we have so many hackers wandering gMS as it is, so why are so many good-rep people giving in to it too?

As for me, I’ll never give in to any form of hacking. I’m a legit player, I’ve always been a legit player, and I will always be a legit player. I’m hoping all my friends will stay legit, also, because I’d be mortified if one did, too.

Someone a couple of days ago once said a good megaphone: “If you try to win using hacks, you’ve already lost.”

If I happen to be wrong about any of my examples saying that a certain person is a hacker, please let me know. We do all have reputations to upkeep after all.

  1. Good one. Same happened to a very good friend of me, but well. Can’t do something against it :<
