*thinks hard*

I’ve been thinking about writing a MapleStory fanfic about one of my characters, except that I’ve only ever made a (slightly messed) assassin and an ice-lightning wizard. I don’t want to write about anything I don’t know about, so I think I’ll go with the wizard since I can’t really remember being an assassin; besides, that situation won’t apply to most maplers.

What I need to know is: What name should the character be? Should it be female or male? (I’m leaning more towards having a female character because I don’t know much about male equips and such.) And most importantly, should it be third-person (the author is the narrator) or first-person (the author is the character)?

Thanks for your input.

  1. In my fanfic, Lost in the Shadows, my character is a girl, and I write in 1st person. However, each chapter I write is from the perspective of another character, which is written in 3rd person. If you don’t get it, then read my stories, though they are long. I don’t know if that helped, but I can say I tried .

  2. In my recently ended fic, I used my main character, but she wasn’t herself, you know? Like, she was female and an I/L wizard, but it’s like, otherwise, the events were totally unreal.

I dunno much about other classes either, which is hard when your story is. . . all the classes at war. . . -cough-

ANYWAY, mine was in third person, except for a few times when you delve into their thoughts and such. But, it’s YOUR story. Do whatever is best for how you write.

  3. I don’t like writing in first person. That’s why I ended I’m Sorry. I write in third person.

  4. Just one advice:

Write in whichever style you like most.

Name your own characters, pick your own perspective. Make it your own.
Or else you’ll never feel that kind of pride and commitment to it you will have once your little baby (that is your writing) starts to walk. XD

Exactly, if you good voice in your writing, you can have bad grammar and people will overlook it.
    Like with my writing!

  6. Thats a nice idea, but one thing to try and remember while you are writing . . . try and refrain from making it bleeding obvious that you are inserting yourself into your fanfic. I mean, I know it is your character, but make it A character, if you know what I mean. Its pretty hard to accomplish that, but if you’re a good writer you can avoid it.

And then basically repeat everything Silver said, and that’s my advice.

She’s right, you have to really make it your own. And you have to have good inspiration, too, or else it will end up like Persistence >_<
