The Boy Was Lucky: Chapter 40

Kayla was confused; she’d never seen the man before yet he recognized her. The king let out a chortle, “Yes, you were quite small then, only four or five, when Crawford visited. His visit came towards the end of his great adventures and I’ll never forget how agreeable he was.” While the king continued on with his reminiscing, Kayla casually took out two arrows and began to play with them idly, her other hand silently moving toward her bow. Derrin’s eyes lit up, and his right hand went slowly to his pack of stars. read more

Vibrant colors welcomed the newcomers as they followed Orlando through the city. Their oxygen masks had been abandoned, the city being protected inside of a clear, gel like dome. Derrin got the feeling that he was inside a large coral reef, an idea that wasn’t entirely wrong. Each building was made of a spongy material of some bright shade. Reds, yellows, greens, blues, and every other imaginable color littered the landscape. It seemed to Derrin that they were on the main road: tall buildings stood on either side, rising stories above the rest of the city, and ahead of them lay the biggest on of all. That’s the castle, Derrin thought. They continued on, and still they did not venture off the main road as the castle loomed ever closer. read more

As Orlando sat dozing in the corner, Kayla and Derrin sat silently together. They’d agreed that it’d be best not to move again until Derrin had recovered a sufficient amount of strength. The pair hadn’t said much since to each other since they’d arrived in the phosphorescent cave, but finally Kayla spoke, “I never got to thank you back there, for saving us, once again.” read more

The trio moved along slowly, Derrin struggling to swim with Kayla helping him along and the mystery boy swimming circles around them to make sure no enemies approached. The landscape seemed to repeat itself to Kayla, and she had no clue where they were going. After what seemed like an eternity the boy spoke, “Your masks should be running out, it’s time to switch.” Derrin and Kayla followed the boy’s advice and the group proceeded on. read more

I’m back!

In case you forgot who I am, this is the writer of theThe Boy was Lucky series. Anyways, I’ve got a long story to explain my absence.

In short, it goes something like this:

Crazy Load of homework -> ZOMG the Wii (pwns j00 -> ZOMG nooo! My comp has died in a power surge!

So yeah, with a month to go before midterms, my teachers unloaded a Chuck Norris-load of homework upon me. This consumed me for the next few weeks until the aforementioned release of the Wii. I camped out for 14 hours to get that baby and it was completely worth it. I spent all of my Thanksgiving weekend playing Twilight Princess before giving Madden a try. By the way, if you haven’t gotten a Wii, get one. There are tons of awesome games and, bottom line, it’s got Twilight Princess. If that was the only game that was released with the system I’d still buy it. read more

The shadow began to wrap around them, consuming them. From Kayla’s perspective it was a large, slightly omniscient blob, but from an outsider’s perspective the shadow had become a cone with a large base. The narrow end pointing down, the cone cut through the air, speed slowly increasing until contact was made. A large splash erupted from the water as dozens of gallons of water were displaced. The collision put little strain on either of the pair as the peak cut through the surface with ease. As the cone dove deeper and deeper, the water’s resistance to be moved gradually slowed it down, preventing a deadly crash on the sea floor in the process. Surprisingly, Kayla found she could breathe as they descended. It appeared as though the shadow has absorbed the oxygen from the air. Its intelligence scared her, even if it was Derrin’s subconscious according to the Dark Lord. For the first time, she realized she could still see Derrin. She turned her head in his direction and made an effort to discern anything about his condition. Worry grew as she gave up, unable to discern anything from his hazy form. read more

Sick :-/

Hey, guys. Guess what? I’m sick. You know what that means? No story over the weekend. I apologize, but if I wrote a chapter, it wouldn’t measure up to my standards.

Anyways, to keep this MMO related, I got my dit to 37! That means a 4 hit savage blow. I played on him because my friend got back into MS and he has a 3x cleric so I figured I’d play with him on my dit. Despite the boringness of training him, I’ve promised myself that I’m going to keep at it till I get him to 40 and a six hit savage blow before switching back to my dexless sin. Oh, that reminds me, anyone got a 34+ attack kandayo for sale? read more

As Kayla stepped onto the boat she looked back at the two men carrying Derrin up the bridge and onto the deck. The weight of mesos in their pockets kept them from telling others. They awkwardly took him below deck, and then brusquely removed a family from a couch while Kayla apologized profusely. The pair carefully set him down on the couch, careful not to anger their employer. Quickly, they departed, leaving Kayla to a room full of stares directed at her and Derrin. She attempted to ignore them, seating herself on the arm of the couch and looking down at him. Despite her resolve, the feeling of dozens of eyes focused on her brought blood to her cheeks. It wasn’t until many seconds later that the other passengers returned their attention to their previous concerns and left Kayla to herself. read more

The Dark Lord whistled in amazement in the silence, “How—how did that happen? That followed none of the rules that govern the shadow art.”

Kayla almost laughed at the Dark Lord, “I think it’s something you’ll never be able to grasp.” The Dark Lord’s unfamiliarity with such a simple human emotion as love baffled her. “Plus, I mean, Derrin has shown he doesn’t need to follow most of the rules set out in anything. Have you ever heard of someone becoming a Hermit in less than a year?” The Dark Lord shook his head after a second, and Kayla continued, “In any case, we need to focus on the matter at hand. He’ll be alright won’t he?” read more

Derrin’s attention became entirely focused on the bandit. His shadow gathered itself in a flash and shot forth as dozens of deadly arms. Kayla looked over at the last moment, and she froze with fear. It seemed as though Derrin was too late; the dagger sunk into her chest as the arms closed in. However, before it could go more than an inch, the bandit whipped around, and held his hands out as if to block the shadow. Suddenly, a shadow of his own formed a shield in front of him and Derrin’s shadow collided with the bandit’s. A shockwave rippled through the air as the two forces met, and the shield broke as the arms pierced the bandit countless times over. The bandit collapsed: he’d died before he’d realized he’d lost. read more
