Hackers – The true failures

Hackers – The true failiures

Countless times have legit players been called a ‘Nolife’ by a hacker. Is that really so? I met a hacker at the Slime Tree on Friday. I was hunting for White Roses and passes with my friend when he jumps in and starts hacking. He was level 1X so he didn’t really bother me, yet I wanted to talk with him. read more

The best 24 hours of my Maple life

The 15th of May. 12 days after the Maple Story 1st Birthday even started.
I’d been at Ludirium hunting Cake monsters at Cloud Terrace for a week. I had found 3 Blue Presents which all had given me cakes. I was killing the cakes noramally and when I least expect it another Blue Present pops up. I decide to be an optimist and hope for a Bandana this time so I go see the Maple Administrator and she decides to be nice and gives me a fourth slice of cake. Great! Soon I can throw a cake party to the Game Masters!
I buy a Megaphone with the last Nx Cash I have left and use it on Channel 1 trying to trade my Maple Doom Singer for a Maple Soul Searcher or a Maple Bow. I had no use whatsoever for the Doom Singer since my Warrior is on another server. After a short time I get a reply from a person who has a scrolled Soul Searcher and 2 Maple Bows. We meet and we decide to trade my under average Doom Singer for his 8 speed, otherwise under average Maple Bow. I’m happy since I can finally use a Maple Weapon and he’s happy since he got rid of one of his bows and now he has a chance to make profit.
I head out to Cloud Terrace again to test the Maple Bow. There’s a nice “Happy Birthday Maple” text that pops up every time I shoot regularly. I mess around with it and suddenly a Blue Present drops from a Cake. I’m surprised. I rarely get two drops in a day. I decide that I’ll wait until tomorrow before I turn in the present to the Maple Administrator.
Double XP time seemed to start. I head out to Master Chronos but I get bored very easily so I find another spot. I find a nice one at the Blue Robots in the Toy Factory. I share the map with a Bandit at first, but when she leaves a nice Fighter steps in to share. We have a nice time chatting together and I manage to find a pair of shoes and a Blue Lined Kismet. I’m very happy since, as I said, I don’t get drops very often. Just as the double XP time is about to end I find a Maple Kandayo, the level 43 Claw. I decide to lend it to my brother who plays an Assassin. He starts doing his best on trying to gather up the money to buy it from me so he can scroll it.
I quit the game for the day and go get a good night’s sleep.
The next day after I get home from school and help carrying some wood to the back yard, I get back on Maple. I decide to go and return the Blue Present to the Maple Administrator. The Yellow Maple Bandana I get from her is crowns the whole series of good luck I’ve had. I can finally leave Ludibrium and head to the Coolie Zombies in El Nath! read more

Maple Item Hysteria

Today I realised how hysteric people are about the current event and the items that are available only on this short period of time.
Having failed to complete the 2nd part of the Zakum quest. This is a jump quest in which, if you fall, you fall into lava and you have to walk all the way to the beginning in the lava (see picture).
I returned to El Nath and started training on the Jr Yeti maps. I suddenly realised what I was doing. I was high-leveled enough to train at Coolie Zombies and I had earlier noticed training there is extremely fast, yet I was stuck at Jr Yeti maps. There were 2 reasons for this. Cakes and Maple Stars. I wanted (and still do) to have a Maple Bandana really bad. I’ve kept trying to tell myself “You can’t get it all in a week” but I can’t help resisting the call of the little cake monsters. I wanted to find some Blue Presents since the last one I found gave me the ever so wonderful Birthday Cake. I never found one, I didn’t even find a Candle and I trained there for over 4 hours! I read that Jr Yetis drop Maple Stars, which I thought I could sell for a high price, but then I realised the undeniable truth: Maple Items are just as rare as any other equips. My luck on finding any equips I’d need is just terrible and in the past 56 levels I’ve found under 10 sets of stars, maybe just 5.
I finally got bored of Jr Yetis and decided I’d go train my mule-Magician just for fun. At level 25 the best training spot happens to be Wild Boar. When I stepped in to the Land of the Wild Boar 2 I was shocked. The map was full. I had never seen more than 3 people on the map at once, mostly just one or none, but now it was full. Every single platform as occupied by someone and even walking by caused others to react with a disrespectful “CC plz”. I found out Wild Boar drops a whole lot of Maple Items, which explained everything.
The thing is, people are so desperate to get some specific items that they’ll kill monsters that have no benefit to them all. There were multiple 3rd job people killing Wild Boar just to find a Maple Claw or a Maple Bow or anything else they seemed to drop. I trained there what I could and left. I wonder if this raiding of my calm training spot will calm down as time passes or will I have to try and withstand the pressure and tense atmosphere for the wole duration of the event? I hope it calms down yet I hope to get some Maple Items myself. We’ll see how this turns out, but one thing is for sure. There is no such thing of which everyone benefits of in Maple Story. read more
