As I log onto Maple this morning, it will be accompanied by another day endlessly searching for brightly coloured Hallowe’en candies.
When they first announced the event, I thought it would be fun, run around, grab a few candies, get a basket. But no, never are such things that easy, are they?
My first day was good, I managed 20 candies. I thought, ‘If I can keep this up I’ll be done in a couple days’. But alas, as I logged on yesterday in the afternoon (as opposed to night), it was like a whole different atmosphere! People where downright ruthless! Maybe it’s because at night, people are tired. Or drunk. I don’t know, but they seem much more laid back.
But anyway, I got my spot at the usual bottom of the slime tree, and began my hunt for candies. It’s funny the way you get a short burst of excitement when you see the small bundle of sweets drop. Other’s not so funny as much as a sudden race! I’m sure had this not been a game I’d have been tackled violently to the ground in order to obtain my candy. This is where all my problems began.
I started off sharing the bottom platforms with a mage, he stayed on the very bottom, I two platforms up. Didn’t ks each other, and got about 3 slimes each respawn. Eventually, he left, and then a thief comes in. All was well, we were mutually ksing each other, much different than normal. He left as well, and for a while, I had the whole bottom to myself. I’ve found about 5 candies by now, and I’m thinking I’m on a roll, so I continue my rounds.
A warrior comes in, and I figure, okay, I can share. So we do that. I get kind of bored fighting the same three slimes over and over again, so I venture upwards. I really wonder I people realize that there’s a bottom to slime tree! Cause there was like, 100 people up there, all fighting over the same slimes!
I stay at the middle for a few seconds, before returning to familiar territory. But it seems that in my few seconds absence someone has decided to take over my area. Well, obviously I had to reclaim my territory. It seems as in situations like this, our primal instincts are in full flourish. I could almost hear the growling.
I get my spot back, and keep hunting. Then a sin comes in a starts ksing the warrior I’m with, and then starts coming for me too, and this is where things got crazy.
We both go for the same slime. Dead. I figure it’s his, so I continue fighting while he goes to loot. I watch him as he’s just standing over the candy, so I think maybe it’s mine. I head over and, what do you know, I pick it up.
This guy starts spamming, ‘giv me plz’ and ‘i killed it’. I’d been able to pick up the candy right away, so I assume it’s rightfully mine. Then he starts freaking out, yelling ‘noob’ and ‘looter’ and ‘giv me my candie’.
I keep saying that it’s mine, and I’m not giving him anything. Then his friend comes, 6x Warrior by the look of it. And as if he can frighten my with his big I’m level 60 attitude, tells me to give the kid the candy. I tell him No, it’s mine. He tried to trade, but I know better than to accept. They start cursing off in some other language, then report me! For what? Taking my candy!? Rubbish.
They leave and again, I continue mindlessly killing slimes. This would be much easier had I been my archer, and just Arrow Bomb them all. But slime tree is too awkward a map, and I’m in Ludi on my archer.
Another thief comes in, and just blatently starts ksing me. I try to give the heads up that I can share by not killing any of his, but he persists.
That’s when it became A Full Out KS War.
Nothing to hold either of us back, and what seems like an almost feral desire for these candies, we engage in a gruseome battle for the small mounds of orange gellatin. Us being both sins, it wasn’t pretty. Tobis and Icies everywhere! A war zone, I tell you!
I think I win, because he leaves. I’ve finally made my quota for the day, and manage 20 candies.I figure that’s enough, and I got to chill in Henesys, where I’m ever more bombarded with ‘Selling candy, u offer plz’ or, ‘Candy 50k, hurry!!’. That was more than enough for me, so I log offa maple to do something else.
This candy thing is crazy, it seems that’s all anyone has time for. All you can do is wait it out in a small bunker hidden beneath pig beach.
