Tales Of The Twins: Log One

Hey. I’m Zerofox. Zerofox Kitsune.

But in the world of MapleStory, I’m known as Kogekisha…

BZZZT!

The children cheered happily, picking up their colourful bags and thrusting them over their shoulders. Many of them formed groups to walk home with. Their excited chatter soon echoed the empty, desterted halls of the old building. Zerofox was rummaging through his desk, searching for whatever was in that two-bit piece of junk that looked like it was hit by a hurricane. “Hey Xwolf, do you have that article that I printed off yesterday?”

Xwolf turned around and cocked his head. His short, dark brown hair slid over his face. “You mean the one that had those glitch reports and strange uprisings?” The side of his mouth twitched. “Yes that one. I gave it to you during Silent Reading because you said you needed it.”

“Err, I uh–“
“You doodled on it, didn’t you?”
“I couldn’t help it! It’s white paperiness was calling my pencil!”

Xwolf has a bad habit of doodling on everything he sees. Napkins, scraps, paper, homework, you name it. When I come home one day, the kitchen walls will have smiling Orange Mushrooms on them. Watch.

“Xwolf, didn’t you have a WHOLE PACK of paper in your desk?!”
“I used it.”
“ALREADY?!”
“Heeheehee.”

Zerofox took the piece of paper from Xwolf’s hand, and thank goodness he had only drawn on the back. That paper contained broken code Zerofox hacked out of Wizet’s databases and rumours from bulletin boards about strange happenings…

“Do you have everything, Zerofox?” Xwolf asked. “Yeah, but it feels as although I’m carrying a family of pachyderms!”

Both of the twins’ backpacks were completely stuffed. The teacher, who was feeling ‘generous’, decided to give them ‘a little bit of extra homework’ to more than likely keep them away from ‘those silly games’.

The rest of the children went home scot-free.

“You ready, Zerofox?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay, let’s go!”

The twins made their way through the maze of old, rotting desks towards the hallway. Zerofox stopped and took a deep breath. “Same old smell.” The hallways reeked of wet boots and doggie surprise left on the bottom of them.

They trudged towards the old red door, in which sometimes would make flatulence noises when a harsh wind blew. Xwolf pushed it open as it creaked and moaned. “Hey, so when we get home, let’s go to the Purple Plains, because I am NOT going to PQ,” Zerofox stated. “Same here. But I wish they would have put those little cashcows somewhere else, instead of that living hell they call Amoria.”

The twins dragged their feet along the wet pavement of the rainy Friday afternoon. Rain drizzled and spat occaisionally as they progressed toward the intersection. They lazily stood there and yawned, waiting for the light that would let them cross.

The light signaled, and the two brothers bolted across the street, and dove into their shortcut, the nearby forest that resembled Ellinia…

Xwolf dropped his backpack and ran after a squirrel that was looking for nuts. The squirrel, as well as Xwolf, weaved skillfully between the jutting roots of the monstrous, tangled trees that loomed over them. Xwolf had almost caught up to the squirrel, when it scrabbled up a tree and dove into the hole it had previously made.

“DARN YOU SQUIRREL AND YOUR ABILITY TO FIT IN SMALL PLACES!” cursed Xwolf. Zerofox laughed. “Trying to follow in your wolf instincts? Well, your stealth needs definite work!” “HEY,” Xwolf pouted. “I ALMOST caught it.”

Xwolf plopped himself down onto a pile of crisp leaves. While Xwolf wasn’t looking, Zerofox grabbed some water out of a nearby creek and snuck up behind him. Zerofox held his hands above Xwolf’s head and dropped the water cupped in his hands. Xwolf jolted. Zerofox chuckled. “Come on, we should get home if we wanna play!”

“Wanna race?”
“Okay.”
“One, Two…”
“BANANA!”

Zerofox’s foot slid under a root and he tripped. Xwolf laughed. “Come ON Zerofox, we NEED to get HOME,” he smirked cheekily. Zerofox picked himself up and brushed himself off. He ran as fast as his legs would carry him and caught up to Xwolf. “Okay, okay, we’re even!” he panted.

Zerofox slid the keys out of his pocket, and unlocked the door. The twins kicked off their shoes, and Xwolf jogged upstairs into the computer room. Zerofox dropped his backpack onto the mat and followed Xwolf.

Their computers made the familiar whirring sound as they started them up. “Hey Zerofox, want a snack? I’m going to go get something to eat.” “Okay,” Zerofox replied.

Once his computer finished booting up, Zerofox launched MapleStory. Then he went over to Xwolf’s laptop and started MapleStory for him.

We love playing MapleStory. It’s sort of our own world, where we can be together and go on exciting adventures. I’m an assassin named Kogekisha; my brother is a spearman named Noryoku. We’re almost level 50, and I can’t wait! I want to be the greatest assassin there ever was.

“Here you go, a nice, chocolate brownie,” Xwolf said between munches of his own brownie. “Oh, you loaded Maple for me? Thanks!”

“Xwolf, can you go get that piece of paper? You know, the one you DOODLED on?” asked Zerofox.

“And which of thousands of papers with doodles do you mean?”

“You know what I’m talking about. I put it in the top pouch of your backpack.”

Xwolf smiled, ran towards the stairs and slid down the banister. He apporached the mat and started tossing everything everywhere.

“I CAN’T FIND IT!” Xwolf yelled towards the computer room upsatirs. “I must’ve left it on the ground when I went to go chase that squirrel!” “Well, good luck doing your homework,” Zerofox stated blandly, in a bad attempt to stifle a giggle. “Let’s go back and look for it.”

The twins dashed into the forest and searched for the missing backpack. “Hey, Xwolf, I think I found i–“

“Zerofox? ZEROFOX!” Xwolf ran towards where he heard Zerofox yell. Zerofox was hanging from a vine, over a giant, black, swirling pit. “Is that…a portal? It looks like the one from Super Mario 64 when you enter the Hazy Maze Cave…”

“Wouldn’t it be awesome to go on an adventure like that, just like our assassin and spearman?”
“YEAH”
“I can’t hold on much longer, so let’s go!”

A famous white light with a bluish tinge enveloped the two, sending them to another dimension…

To be continued…

If I need more characters, (I have roles, but I need people to play them) I may hire them.

  1. Hey Zerofox, why did you re-write/name the story? I thought it was good the way it was before. Now if people want to read “The Assassin With Golden Eyes: Log Two”, they might not be able to find it, unless you wrote somewhere in your original that you changed it.

  2. I stated the this is the completely REWRITTEN version up there, under the disclaimer.

  3. It’s good. But like I said somewhere before. “They’re going to turn from human flesh into sprites ahhh!” Ok, I’m done. xP

  4. To AwSnapeLz: Yeah, it was on Zerofox’s first copy of the story before he rewrote it. Something tells me you would make a very good detective, either that or Zerofox can’t hide things.

  5. i mean yea as in yea are you?

    No not you! Zerofox!

  7. Let’s put it this way:

I’ll recruit for now, and analyze what I have. Then I’ll go from there. I have roles, but I need characters.

    FORM:

    Age:
    Gender:
    Class:

Provide a picture if you can. I’m kind of stealing your form, AzNxKnife. CREDITS TO AzNxKnife for the Character Form!

And Log Two is coming out when my thoughts are sorted. So maybe later today/tomorrow.
