Chapter Three: The Recurring Nightmare

Hidekay ran toward the ring of trees, where a man in a black and yellow robe raised his staff. Then, he saw the dead body of Jensahra Ganashi. He kneeled over the body, crying.

“Sorry Dad, I couldn’t save you,” Hidekay said.

Jensahra’s eyes suddenly opened. “Then DIE!”

Hidekay raised his Geta dagger, but it changed into a sword. Jensahra dashed around, shooting arrows at Hidekay, who could do naught but dodge and block the occasional arrow. Hidekay’s dad started chanting.

“Under a sky of dust, you shall find the evil at heart. Through many journey’s, you must go, and you will find yourself far from your birthplace. In the coal mines of the place of ice, you will fight a beast of rock. Then you will be turned away, from the world you know. Two forces, one dark, one light, will fight and then one shall win. You will find the wrong answer, and then your bloodline shall be the key. Led astray from your path, you will wander with your friends, and one new person will join you. Then, as you escape from the different world, you will find the answer. It will be too late to save someone from your family. A traitor shall be what you seek.”

Hidekay woke with a start. A bird flew away, feathers drifting in the air. The nightmare again. It had been coming to him for three days now. He walked down to the breakfast hall, where the cooks had prepared another feast. Denkera and Spatrix were already there, digging into a pile of bacon and eggs. A maid warned Denkera that he would get appendicitis if he kept shoveling food into his mouth.

“No problem. I’m a healer, remember?”

Spatrix turned to Hidekay and tossed him a fork. “You’ve been screaming in your sleep. Had the nightmare again?”

“Yeah. I think I should go today. I’m giving the enemy too much time to run. Say, didn’t you mention that you had a government issue tracker?”

“Sure. Tracks them down right to the ant they stepped on three hours ago. I’ll show you it.”
.
They climbed up a set of stairs and entered a room. There was a gigantic machine in the center of it, with a large window to the left. Spatrix tapped a few keys and the screen came to life.

“Alright, who do you want to find?”

“One person. Someone named Amaksah.” Hidekay said, remembering the assailant’s words.

Spatrix typed in “/find Amaksah” and a list of people popped up.

“Dang. Twenty thousand hits. More specific, please.”

“Well, he was a elemental wizard in my dream.” Hidekay said.

“Say, you think the prophecy in your dream is real?” Denkera asked.

“Yep. So real that every other prophecy in the history of our world turned out to be a cry for attention, neh?” Hidekay said.

“Just asking, geez. Didn’t have to give me the full burn treatment.” Denkera winced.

“Hey guys, pay attention to the screen please? Only ten people named Amaksah are elemental wizards. And only three are strong enough to kill Jensahra, according to this.” Spatrix cut in.

“Alright, now how many were in Ellinia at the time of Jensahra Ganashi’s death?”

“One. And his picture fits your description in the dream. Dragon skull staff, black and yellow robe. Unfortunately, the government doesn’t have much info on him.”

“Can you track him?”

“Yeah. According to this-,” Spatrix froze. Hidekay looked at the screen, and his eyes widened.

“What does it mean, unable to find? I thought this could track anyone!” Hidekay said.

“He must’ve done something with the signal of the tracker.” Spatrix said, punching in a few keys. Hidekay noticed a shadow all by itself on the ground. It moved and vanished.

“Crap! Someone was spying on us!”

Denkera and Spatrix snapped to attention as Hidekay kicked open the window and they all jumped out. A set of footprints headed into the forest, one of the many training grounds the Ganashis had built.

They ran and followed the footprints, where they suddenly stopped. Spatrix sliced the air, sending a razor sharp wisp of air at a tree. Many people clad in black jumped down.

“Alright then. Fifteen deadly unknown people versus the three of us. This could almost be a challenge, providing it wasn’t the usual for us.” Hidekay reached into his pocket for a coin to throw, instead throwing a bee’s stinger. It struck someone on the arm.

“Hey, still works.” Hidekay waved his hand and the stinger exploded, sending blood flying.

Spatrix sidestepped a lunge and then pushed an attacker backwards.

“Never shift your weight, especially against someone who could outrun a cheetah.” He sliced upwards, splitting two people in half.

Denkera leaned against a tree as a group of people hefted giant throwing stars.

“Attention. Objects in sight may be more dangerous than they appear.” He kicked up a rock and waved his staff. The rock transformed into a small dragon, which bit off their heads.

“H’okay, that was way too easy,” Hidekay said, wiping the blood off his arm.
“Well, shall we leave now?” Spatrix said.

“We?” Hidekay asked, knowing what was next.

“You won’t do on a revenge trip without the almighty us to protect you from bee stings, eh?”

“Fine. Let’s just say bye to my mom and then we’ll leave. It’s not like we have any leads right now, though.” Hidekay spoke, walking toward the mansion.

Ever have those moments where your teachers pile up ten different projects and you can’t do anything but occasionally go online in ten minute bursts every ten hours? That’s what happened to me.
