Early Dismissal

Firstly, I should make this MMO-related. I’ve quit Maple Story officially and now my friend will play it if he is bored.

I’m so happy to be home at 12! School is usually from 7 to 1.30 but on Fridays, which is “EP3 day” (CCA, a.k.a Co-Cirricular Activities), I get released at about 7. Being released early was so great! It gave me 7 hours and made me feel very sadistic after I saw the sad look on my Math teacher’s face that he lost 1.5 hours of lessons.

Here is a personal recount:

“Run to the hall at 11.20, it’s some kind of emergency drill.” My Chinese teacher told us. We had been wondering why we had to that, particularly the run part. When the bell rung at 11.20, me and my friends all ran “dramatically” to the hall. With lame sounds of “Help me!” and “I can’t do this! Go yourself! I can’t carry on!”.

At the hall, all levels were required to assemble with about 2000 people there.

“As you know, the A level results are going to be released in a few hours.” Mr. Hon, the principal remarked. The eerie silence turned into loud cheers.

“We managed to do an overall analysis but since the results have not been released yet, we can only tell you the overall results.” The ear-piercing screams were revived once again.

“Just as a guideline to the sec 1s and sec 2s, most people take 3 subjects and if they do well in all 3, they can go to university. Last year, our top scorer took 9 subjects and got distinctions for all!” The thunderous roar of joy was once again heard.

“This year, our top scorer, has got…” The hall crept back into it’s eerie silent mode again. “10 distinctions!”

Extreme excitement and loud cheers were heard, we knew it was not the end.

“6 people have received 9 distictions and 25 people have received 8 distinctions!” Joy was in the air and I was pondering about how much of a good wastage of 1 Literature period this was.

“And to celebrate… Let’s all go home after this!”

“YAY!!!” The whole hall screamed in delight, including myself. I had heard of half days before but I told it was just a myth.

Everyone stood up, shouting, clapping and cheering. Just as people started to leave, one person asked “How about EP3.”

Everyone was tensed, if there was still EP3, there was no need to go home as they would still have to stay for long hours in school.

“All EP3s are…” Everyone stood still, with their fists clutched “Cancelled!”

Right about now, many people dashed out of the class to get their bags and hit the road. When I saw the dismayed look on my form teacher/maths teacher’s face, I felt a sadistic jolt in my face muscles as a bigger smile loomed onto my face.

Then I truly felt the Hwa Chong (My school) spirit! The loud hall, the extreme cheers and just everything…

As I left my class, I shouted “Call all your Raffles friends and tell them we’re going home!”

Hwa Chong and Raffles have almost always been the top 2 Singapore schools and there is a strong rivalry between them. I personally have 30 friends in RI but I still like to hate RI?!
