What is the deal with smuggling?!

Honestly, what is going on at Ludibrium? Is this all most people ever want to do when they want to go for a party quest?

I swear, smuggling is as overrated as it is annoying. I get so sick of people always asking, “Who can smuggle?” in a party quest. It isn’t about smuggling passes, it’s about using teamwork to get through the quest.

But before I go on, I have a feeling lots of you are wondering, what is smuggling? Allow me to explain.

Smuggling is the act of a party leader manipulating the system of leaving a pq in a way that (s)he is able to keep the passes outside of a pq, then re-enters the pq to use the extra passes to help the party speed through the player quest.

It is also, stupid, aggravating, and, in my mind, totally against mapling rules.

Now I know some of you are thinking, ‘But smuggling is faster! You can beat the pq more easily! You can avoid the challenging parts! Everybody does it!’

Anybody who considers these thoughts, shut up and listen:

First, I don’t care if smuggling is faster. If you ask me, it slows the whole pq down! What is the point of a perfect pq if after getting some passes, then everyone has to get out so the leader can smuggle passes? It’s irritating! I’d rather just get through the pq right from the start. Yes, the right way isn’t the fastest way, but one thing about it, at least everyone is more focused on the actual quest and not about how to sneak through it.

Second, I don’t WANT to beat the pq that easily. If I want the pq to get easier, I’ll GAIN LEVELS! If one thing about the pq is difficult to me, it’s the things you have to do to pull off a successful smuggling, which involves disconnecting and reconnecting the net connection at exactly the right time. Yeah, that’s REAL easy. If you ask me, the easiest way to get through the pq is to just do it, and use teamwork. It’s that simple.

Third, the pq was meant to be a challenge, so they put challenging parts into it to counter the advantages of a six-person team. Anybody who uses smuggling to skip these challenges are only accomplishing three things:

1. They’re using unfair advantages over honest players.
2. They’re missing out on the rewards of those challenges, including experience and, for me, the sheer fun of them!
3. They’re skipping over the challenges that they should be taking part in, the challenges that make a pq what it should be.

Fourth, NOT EVERYBODY does it. Basically, I take every chance to find parties that don’t smuggle, and I do find them. I have lots more fun with those parties, since I can make the most of every pq experience with them.

Most annoying of all, leaders who call out for only smugglers usually take a lot longer to get in pqs, since they’re only limiting they’re potential selection. Yes, they can usually find one, but not always. At least not when I was in a party today. It took so freaking long! We did find one, but for some reason, he left after he joined! That alone drove me out of the party. I swear, clerics are easier to find!

I am absolutely sick and tired of even hearing people talk about smuggling in pqs. I don’t like it, but more, I don’t like the fact that it’s going completely unnoticed. Therefore, I’m kindly asking, as an honest mapler, that anyone who feels similar to me try and put together some plan to stop smuggling, or at least reduce it. I understand if it takes a long time. I hate smuggling, but it won’t stop me from pqing. I only wish to see some fair, honest gameplay instilled in player quests.

To me, smuggling sucks. That’s my opinion, and it won’t be changed, no matter what comments I get.

    fish.

  2. As to additional background information I would put, just so some of the oldbies don’t get confused. . .
Smuggling is only really used in the Bellocan server.

And I agree. It’s almost a requirement to have a smuggler.
I’ve never been in a full Party Quest because I know how to smuggle. I don’t even know what you do in the fourth stage.

But in my only bit of defense to make myself not seem so pitiful,
Smuggling is the only thing I can do to level.

  3. I can smuggle.
    And snuggle.

I smuggle snails in and out of henesys. So they can live a better life.

  4. Blazesin: Like I said, whatever comments, I don’t care. Although yours is, somewhat entertaining!

IndigoLove: Your opinion is your own. Regarding your comment as smuggling only happening in Bellocan, I can understnad why it hasn’t garnered much talk. Whatever you want to do to level is your thing, but in my opinion, smugglers aren’t needed. There are a lot more people on Bellocan than meets the eye, and there is a very good variety of classes. That’s another reason why I feel smuggling is unnecessary. And trust me when I say, there are tons of ways to level in this game, some faster than others. If I have to spent hours training because I’m low on mesos, I will.

benZON: Aw, how thoughtful of you. You’re a hero to snails anywhere.

Fenrir: Fish. One of my favorite words in the english language, thanks to my gf.

katakos: Wow, a record. And while it is a smuggle, I do admire your decision to not use them. I’ll give you this, the passes make crafty souvenirs. Still, I’d do the same thing if I was in your shoes.
