Playing new games

Hi everyone! Agh, I need to start blogging more! All I ever seem to think about is school and stuff like that. I gotta remember that I have a home here too.

Well, anyway, this blog is NOT going to be about Maple Story.

HOLY CRAP!=O

Well, not entirely. As you know, I don’t have the capability of playing that game up at my school, and before I knew it, I started getting sick of not being able to play Maple Story. This was actually a good long while back. Eventually, I finally couldn’t take it, and decided to concentrate on what the school DID allow to play.

Turns out I had three choices. First was Diablo 2. Already played that a billion times, and now I consider that game no longer exciting. Sorry to you fans, but I just can’t stand the monotony. NEXT!

Guild Wars was the next one I heard about. Now this game was an awesome-looking title. Nice graphics, amazing gameplay, an alternative to nothing but leveling, no subscription fees…I simply had to try it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t think I could play it for a long time, even after I bought all three campaigns, because the college provides mediocre laptops with old processors. Nonetheless, I eventually got sick of not playing something that I figured I’d give it a go. So, I installed all the games and crossed my fingers.

End result: IT WORKS!* IT PLAYS!** HOORAY!***
*BARELY!
**VERY SLOW!
***I DON’T CARE!

All I know is that for once, I get to play a game at college without fear of some firewall butting me out. Freaking sweet. For those of you who do play, I’m a level 20 Necromancer/Mesmer, and my char name is Palevon Wight. Probably should’ve revamped the name a bit, but whatever.

But that’s not all!

As I was playing that game, I was also listening in on things going on in another online game, World of Warcraft. Now, for those of you who don’t know, World of Warcraft is a massive online game based after the third part of an award-winning trilogy of strategy games of a similar name(here’s a hint- take “World” and “of” out of this title and you have the name. SUBTLE, HUH?! XD). It is also, through some mystical maneuver of divine intervention methinks, the single most popular online game in the US, and maybe elsewhere. Over NINE MILLION people play this game! I do not exaggerate ye!

I’m also one of those people. Hooray for bandwagons.

How am I part of this phenomenon? Simple. At my college exists an extracurricular group called Fellowship of the Tower, a group of people who promote and play various games just for nerds. Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, that sort of thing. Well, recently, one of the members who is a huge fan of WoW decided to start a guild named after our group in one of the less crowded servers. I tossed the idea of joining around, wondering if it would be worth the fact that you have to pay 15 blasted bucks a month just to play the fricking game. Eventually, I discovered a way of paying that didn’t involve credit cards: prepaid cards just for the game. I eventually gave in and joined up.

One word-addicting. Okay, two words. Fun. ALRIGHT, THREE! EXHILIRATING! I haven’t had this much fun since discovering Maple Story! Oddly enough, I still had more fun with my first day of MS, since I played 14 hours nonstop on my first day with that one. Even so, though, this is a nice game.

So there you have it, my introduction to two new games, both fun and exciting. I’ll still try to stick with Maple Story as much as I can, though. It has been a long time since I was on that game, and I do kinda miss it. Also, I REALLY WILL TRY to update my fanfic.

Until next time readers! Mountain Dew for you!

  1. *almightly glomp* OMGHAI!

I heard there was an abbreviation in Guild Wars of a job that is something like E/Mo or something. XD

  2. Grawr, I remember trying out new games. I tried trickster and global goonzu, but I always bounced back to maplestory. c:
