It had only been a few short weeks, but already Maple Island was growing old. The boy grew tired of the same snails and mushrooms. He knew the world had more to offer than the weakest of monsters. Fortune had been on his side while at Maple Island. Already, he had gained 30,000 mesos from clothing he had discovered while out in the wilderness. As he approached South Perry he waved to friends he saw along the way, most who had heard of him through his miraculous escapes which had now become his trademark. He passes through the gates, and his eyes immediately gazed up at the mass of the flying ship that would take him from this place. The immensity of the ship increased the closer he got to it. The ferry that had taken him from his home in Lith Harbor to Maple Island hadn’t been a tenth of the ship he was about to board. Undaunted, he continued on. He spoke to the ship’s captain, a man shorter to him by the name of Shanks, and boarded the ship.

The trip, though much shorter than he expected, took two hours to cross the sea of blue in between Maple Island and Victoria Island. Stepping of the boat, the familiar smells of the coast greeted him. He couldn’t wait ‘till he could see his family again; he began to run, the salty breeze whistling through his hair. The streets were empty, but it didn’t even cross his mind. As he came to the residential part of the coastal town, he slowed. Destruction lay everywhere. Houses had been completely torn down, or were simply gone all together. His fears began to mount as he continued on, but he pushed them out of his mind.

Finally, he was forced to confront his fears as he saw his home in shambles. Debris was everywhere; one could barely make out the old rooms. Here and there were burning pieces of furniture who had survived the initial devastation. He took in the picture slowly, all the while anger building. He wanted to rip apart piece by piece the people who did it. Slowly logic took over. If he hadn’t left for Maple Island when he did, he’d be dead right now, like the rest of his family. These people are much too strong for me, he realized. I’d be dead right now if it wasn’t for luck. I have to get stronger, strong enough to defeat anyone who could ever threaten the people I care about, and one day, destroy the people who destroyed my family.

  1. This was good, again. You obviously have a wide vocabulary and good grammer, unlike most of the population of MMOTales. =P

    And yes, SEMICOLONS FTW!

Oh yeah, and I think that typing numbers doesn’t look as appealing as typing numbers in words, such as 30 000 can be written as thirty thousand. *shrugs* But that’s just my opinion.

  2. @blitzblits: Well, I’ve typed out a ways into the story, and this is where the hook comes in. The next one is a ways off, sorry.

@Ezyan: Actually any number with more than three syllables is supposed to be written in numerical form (Random fact from my eigth grade english class).

  3. I love your choice of vocab. alot of varieties
good job! keep up the good work!

This aint creative, its like 90% of the stories right now. What I write is creative, because it spans SOO far from Maplestory, my EDITOR doesn’t belive it should even mention Maplestory in it,
