Thief Talent, Bowman Heart: Chapter 18

~ Chapter 18 – The End of one Journey, the start of another one

Fazed, I was confused and I had no idea what happened to me at
the time. My mom, Athena came over to me, hugging me. Something
big must of happened. After the hug, Athena explained to me
everything that happened. I guess I must of lost my memory cause
I didn’t know anything she was talking about. I looked around me,
and everywhere I saw fallen warriors. It was terrible. Being still a kid,
I couldn’t handle the violence yet, and I was trembling with fear.

Mom assured me It was okay. Some of the Korean Folk Town priests
are coming to heal the injuries of the wounded…but the ones dead
will probaly just remain dead. I don’t really count that as reassurement,
but at least some of the people survived. Ryan was okay, so was
Dark and Ruben. A few priests and a young cleric came to us and
healed us. The young cleric was the one who came to my aid.

She looked as old as me. Probaly 12. It’s amazing she’s already a cleric.
Her hands glowed green as she layed her hands on my injuries and
bruises. Raeken didn’t need healing, so the rest of the priests
went over to the fallen warriors, Ryan, Ruben, and Dark. My mom
also didn’t need healing because she was healed by Raeken in his
sealed form. She went to check on everyone else.

I got up to look for Raeken, but the cleric who was healing told
me to stay. I couldn’t walk anyway. I think I had a sprained ankle.
Telling her that, she moved her healing palms toward my ankle.
I decided to look around some more, but It still wasn’t a happy sight,
seeing so much blood, even with all the people around, so I decided
to just look at the cleric do her job.

She was intently focused. I saw beads of sweat drip from her forehead.
It wasn’t as easy as It looked. She paused for a moment to wipe her forehead
with a small cloth. She saw me staring at her and blushed.

“Sorry…this is my first time healing someone…am I doing a bad job?”

Her tone of voice was really serious. Guess the first time healing someone
is a really big thing, so I assured her.

“No, you’re doing a great job. Keep it up.”

She blushed a little, but it faded quickly because this was a serious situation.
She continued to heal my ankle. The bone inside my ankle felt less tense
and as time passed, It felt more relaxing. A couple of minutes later, the pain
ran away from my ankles, but there was still some pain in it, so I couldn’t
jump or run really fast or I might sprain it again. They took away most of
the people, and wiped away all the blood, so I could look at the staduim now.

It was a bit scarred. I heard lots of noises outside, moaning and crying.
This was terrible. I knew this was all my fault…I had to apologize…but
I didn’t really think that would cheer them up, but It was the only thing
to do. Raeken appeared in front of me while I was thinking.

“Don’t think about aplogizing. Me and Athena already aplogized at least
five times in diffrent sentences.”

“Yeah I know…what’s the point anyway. We can’t just wish for
everyone to be alive again.” I replied

Then at the time, an imaginary light bulb flashed on the top of my
head. I got it! I faced Raeken again, but with a smile this time

“What are you smiling for Tai?” he asked curiously

“We can use the magic and summoning rock to revive everyone!” I smiled

“You’re right but…victoria island may be chasing us as we speak..and..

“Who cares! We caused so much trouble here! I screamed

“You’re right…but first we’ll need to ask Ryan for the pheonix blood…
and we’ll need one millon mesos…and…wait…you still have your…

“Yeah, I have the demon wings still. It’s in the hotel we stayed at.”

“You hid demon wings from us for like 10 chapters! What’s wrong
with you!” he replied furiously.

“Well…I kinda like the demon wings…they look cool if they’re
not on my back, so I kept it.

After the conversation, I noticed Ryan, Dark, and Ruben were
eavesdropping on us. I didn’t care. Now I didn’t have to explain
to them what we were talking about.

“That’s a great idea…but are you sure? Dances with Balrog
will chase you down…right now Grendel the Really Old is leading
them in circles. He sent me a message.”

“Grendel…wow he really is trying to help us.” I said in a thankful voice.

“Thanks. Don’t worry about it anyway. Now the Dark Lord is finally
gone, the murderous thief. You don’t have to revive everyone here.
Everyone here hates the Dark Lord…he once invaded us before and
killed some of us…so those deaths weren’t for nothing.”

Ryan made a weak smile. He really meant it, but I think he was
still sad deep inside so many people died. I couldn’t stand
being at fault for all these people dying, even if It wasn’t for nothing,
I wasn’t going to be greedy.

“Thanks but…I made my decision. I’ll just need one millon mesos,
and a request for Jane, the alchemist to come over here.”

“Actually, I’m already here…I figured you would make that decision.”

I turned around to see Jane the alchemist again. She was smiling.
Then the crying and moaning stopped. I guess everyone told them
my decision…man that spread fast. They were all happy no one
will remain dead. I couldn’t help focusing on the cleric who healed
me before. When I was just a kid, I was the best in my class.
My archery skills were top notch, and that’s all I really focused on.

I had a reputation to be a great archer since my dad is a famous
sniper and my mom is apparently one of the victorian leaders.
If I didn’t live up to their reputation, I might be shamed. Guess
that’s why I didn’t have a slight intreast in girls. Now that I’m out
of school, I think I started to notice them. She caught me staring
at her and she pretended like she didn’t see me. I wonder
why she’s so nervous. Ryan came towards me, but with a big bag of mesos.

“Here…give this to Jane.” Ryan said cooly

He handed me the bag. It was much heavier than it looked. I looked inside.
It took me 3 minutes to count, but It was one millon mesos. Gladly, I thanked
Ryan and ran back to the hotel. Hurriying back to my room, I grabbed the hidden
demon wings under the bed. The more I thought about it, the more I wondered
how the heck did I hide this from them all this time. Confused, I grabbed the demon
wings. It was cold and gave me a shuddering feeling, but I loved those kind
of feelings when I wasn’t in any danger.

I grabbed it and stuffed it in the bag. Before I could leave the hotel,
I saw the cleric again near the door.

“Hi again.” she simply said

“Hi…uh did you want me for something?” I asked curiously

“Well no…I just wanted someone to talk to.” she replied nervously

“Oh okay, I’m going to Jane, so you can talk with me while I’m walking.”

She nodded as we left the hotel. It was kind of strange to be near her.
Normally I could talk to anyone, but for some reason, It felt kind of
strange when I said something to her. I didn’t understand the feeling,
but It was even wierder not to say something.

“So, what’s your name?”

“Clarissa. I already know your name. Tai, right?”

“Yeah”

At first I felt a little nervous talking to her, but then when we continued
talking, It felt more natural, and then it began to be comfortable
to talk with her. She told me about her past. When she was just 3 years
old, she was studying the arts of healing with her dad. She had to work
hard cause her dad was the “holy priest” of the town, the highest ranking
priest and second in command only to Ryan, the village leader.

She worked really hard and she didn’t have many friends due to it.
She was number one in her medical class and became a cleric only
3 weeks ago. She also explained that unlike her friends, she had no
time to be intreasted in boys. Guess that explained why she was
nervous before. I guess that also explains why I’m a little nervous talking to her.

I told her about my past too. The trip felt really long when you’re talking
to someone. She seemed to enjoy talking and listening too, and I couldn’t
help but smile. I hadn’t had a friend besides Raeken to talk to and I’m
glad she was the same age as me. She was talking a lot too. I was left
there in front of Ryan’s house listening to her. We were there so long,
that Ryan came out like he was expecting me to come over here.

He looked at us strangely. Who wouldn’t. I didn’t realize we were both
smiling at each other while he was looking at us. He looked at us
without saying a word and that was when I finally noticed him and
faced his direction.

“Sorry Ryan…is Jane here?”

“Yeah she’s here, but more to the point…you two look cute together!

Clarissa stared at me and then blushed again. I did the same.

“We were just talking okay Ryan!” she said hurriedly

“I didn’t say anything. I just said you two look cute together, is that bad?
Anyway, come inside already, everyone is here to see Jane work her magic.”

“Your house may be big, but It can’t fit everyone can It?” I asked suprised

“I only showed you 1/5 of this house last time. The trees behind this house
block 4/5 of the house, so you couldn’t see it from the outside how big
this house is.”

Shocked, I went inside. There is like at least 10,000 people….how can
you fit the whole village in the house? The priests were there with
the dead. The friends and relatives of the fallen gathered around
his body. They weren’t sad though cause they were about to be revived.

“I’ll see you later Tai, I have to go with the priests now.”

With that said, she hurridely followed one of the priests. The whole house
was crowded with people. Every hallway in this house was filled with people.
There was no way everyone could watch everyone being revived, so Ryan
told me we were going to do it outside. I found Raeken, Ruben, Dark
and Athena. They looked like they never were in a fight. I was still suprised
why Dark was here. He almost died, so his injuries must of been severe.

He told me that he was aided by one of the experienced priests, so
that’s why he was healed so fast. Thinking about the battle, I still haven’t
seen Dark’s signature move yet. Only Ruben’s Dragon Roar. He told me
he’ll show me it one day, but I doubt I’ll see it. I soon found Jane and I
gave her the materials and the cash.

“So…why do you need these items for Jane?”

“So I can sell it! Demon Wings are rare and they’re sold for 10 mil in some places.”

We were silent for a while. We eyeballed her…our eyes were burning with flame.

“YOU MEAN YOU MADE US GO THROUGH ALL THAT TROUBLE TO GET ALL THAT STUFF
SO YOU CAN MAKE SOME MONEY!!??”

We yelled at her like all tommorow. I can’t believe she made us go through all that
just so she can make tons of money. I wasn’t so mad though when she said you
need the pheonix blood to make it…at least. When I told her I wasn’t giving
her the demon wings, she pratcially cried, saying how poor she was. There was
no way I was giving her the wings. That greedy girl. After a bit of crying, she
admitted the truth. She really needed the demon wings to make the summoning rock.
The demon wings because It was filled with a strange powerful type of mana and
the pheonix blood was to power up the mana, making it into the most strongest
type of mana in the world and the power forms into a rock.

When the first time we met, she did sound pretty serious when she told us the
materials, so I already guessed she was just kidding about selling the wings.
She excused herself and left with a few magicians to make the rock. I was going
to talk to Raeken, but he said he was going to help Jane make the rock as well.
So I waited there for a long time, bored to tears. I get bored easily. I couldn’t
talk to Ruben, Dark, Ryan…not even my mom! They were all busy talking with people.

Thankfully, Clarissa didn’t have to do anything, so she just talked with me.
I enjoyed talking to her, but when I do talk to her, people would look
at us like we were couples or something, so we would look away from each
other for a while. I see mom looking at me a lot of times, smiling. Man…I
think everyone is getting a completly wrong idea.

Finally Jane was done. Everybody left the big mansion hurridely.
Mom grabbed me by the arm and told me to follow her. I saw Raeken
panting and sweating like crazy. Athena told me he to send all his
mana power to Jane to make the summoning rock. They wanted me
to do the honors. I would combine both rocks and grant the wish.

Jane nodded at me and handed me the magic rock and the summoning
rock. The summoning rock had many symbols on it. I could feel imense
mana stored inside, even more than the magic rock. I looked at everyone
and then stared at the two rocks. Taking a deep breath, I bumped
the two rocks against each other, and a big blue flashing light appeared.
It blinded me a little, but soon the light dissapeared. Not knowing
what to do, I looked at Jane for guidance.

“Say the wish out loud, grab the two rocks, and break it!” she yelled

“Are you serious? I break it!?”

“Well how else?”

“Um I was thinking about a dragon appearing granting me the wish…”

“If this was some kind of anime or fan fic yeah, but not this!”

I sighed. I was expecting a big dragon, but that would really
only happen in animes and fan fics. Oh well, on to the speech.

“Bring back everyone who’s dead in Korean Folk Town back to life!”

With that said, I decided to use a new trick. I threw the two rocks
high up in the air, got out my bow, and releasing some mana from
my palms, I grabbed a handle of arrows and touched them with
my mana infested palm, then dug it deep on the soil, releasing
an arrow rain. 24 blue arrows rained up, striking the two rocks.
They all stared silently, but then Athena broke the silence.

“One word Tai…….showoff.” she simply said

I was going to argue back at her that I just wanted to try a
new attack, but suddenly, lots of rays of lights flashed
from the clouds. The sunshine rayed down on the fallen.
As time passed, they started opening their eyes and waking up
from death. YES! They were back alive again!!!

Everyone was happy. Lots of hugs and kisses, too much of
a chessy scene for me, so I left until Clarissa came and declared
there was going to be a big party because me, Raeken, and
Athena were leaving Korean Folk Town. I asked her why no one
told me, but she said that you were going to go on another quest
to get another pair of magic and summoning rocks.

She said it so casually like the rocks grow on trees or something.
I didn’t really care. After all that has happened, and even though
we almost died at least a several times, I had fun traveling with
Athena and Raeken, and meeting Ryan, Dark, Ruben and Clarissa.
The party was really fun. It was just like the time we just
got here at Korean Folk Town…but I was sure going to miss everyone.

After the party and a good night’s sleep, we were off to find more
magic and summoning rocks. Who knows when Dances with Balrogs
finds me and probaly execute me. Everyone waved good bye,
except for Ruben, Dark, and Clarissa. That sucked. I didn’t get to
say goodbye to them, but we had to leave asap. Just when we
were leaving town, I saw those three missing people.

“We’re going with you” Ruben said hurridely as he paused for breath

“Really…why?” I asked, happy.

“Me and Ruben always wanted to go on a journey, and Clarissa
wants to go on one too. Besides. Her tutor says that if she successfully
helps you three find the magic and summoning rock, she’ll be a priest.” Dark replied.

“The more the merrier I say!”

So the 6 of us headed for the next destination, embarking on yet another
journey, this time with double the people and double the fun.
