~ The End of a Tiring Day
We were warped back to Sleepywood in a blink of an eye…okay, I blinked twice, but
that’s still fast. We were by the inn. It was dead quiet, but I couldn’t tell if those two
already got here before us, because it’s always dead quiet here in Sleepywood. I stayed
there for a minute, trying to find some noise, but there was none…now it was way to quiet.
I barged in the inn. No one. “HELLO?” No answer. I looked around everywhere, going inside
all the suana rooms, checking every corner, but to no avail.

I was about to leave the inn when my eye caught a slip of parchment paper. It was
just a normal piece of paper, but as I got closer, I saw it was smeared with blood on
the side. I grabbed it and read:

To: Anyone

This is the work of the Renard, you must of heard of us, an elite assassin group.
If you think you’re strong, meet us by where the curse eyes are at. Don’t worry,
we haven’t killed anybody…yet. You better come here fast…but they might
be dead before you get here… ~ Renard

This wasn’t good. I couldn’t contact henesy in time…what if they kill the hostages?
Irine is out cold too. What could I do though? There’s nothing I could do…I couldn’t
take out those two. I thought about it some more. I knew I had to do something…
maybe I can make a trade with them, or at least stall them long enough for some
reinforcements to come? Maybe they’ll check up on Chief Stan. Before I was done
thinking, I was almost to the curse eyes, leaving Irine back at Sleepywood.

When I got there, I immedietly saw them. Maria, the woman from before was hacking
at the curse eyes with her burned up chrono axe. The other man was just lying on
a dead curse eye, reading some sort of book. I looked behind him and there I saw
the hostages! They weren’t far away, maybe I can lure them out without them
finding out? If I were to be caught, who knows what’s going to happen to me.
I hid in a bush, watching them sharply. When Maria left to hunt more, I took action.

I waved my hands like crazy in a spot where they could see me pretty well, but
not the man who was guarding them. Besides, I bet he’s completly absorbed in
his book as he said nothing when the woman kept talking to him. They spotted me.
I held out my hand and put the palm of my hand out, telling them to wait for me.
They understood what I meant, and they kept quiet. Slowly, I took the long way
to get there, because I was certain he couldn’t see me there. I saw him shift his
gaze towards me, but I knew he didn’t notice me…he couldn’t have.

After 5 minutes of careful treading, I reached them. They were all tied in one
big net, like a big ball. I slowly unsheathed my long sword. The scarlet blade
was too sharp, so It wasn’t cut out for the job. I didn’t let my guard down, If
I did…even for one second, I could be captured. When I was at arms length,
I swung my blade. Gradually, the blade scratched the net. One more swing
like that and they’ll be free. ” As I began to strike one more time, it was at
that moment, he spotted me.

In an instant, he confronted me, a viking sword in one hand, his book in the
other hand. The chill formed again, and my body turned stiff. He swung his
blade at me, but I had just enough time to calm down and duck, barely dodging
his attack. A stroke of hair was cut off from the top of my head, not much,
but I knew that a few inches lower, and he could of cut my eyes out. “Don’t think
I couldn’t see you…my eyesight is much better than any normal person.”
I looked at him, our eyes locked with each other. I could see his right eye was
a deep crimson red. Without saying another word, he swiped at me again, and this
time, his strike actually scratched a bit of my skin, but thankfully it wasn’t lethal.

I took a few steps back, stumbling on the way. I could tell…he was playing with me.
If he wanted to, he could of killed me before. I lost control. Angrily, I lunged at him.
I noticed that I was running faster than before. “Don’t mess with me!” I cried. He
didn’t even bother to get out of the way, he even put his sword away! I swung at
him, but he grasped the edge of the blade with his hand. I saw blood spreading
across his hand, but he didn’t care. I tried to yank it off his hand, but he held it
steady in place, not letting go. He took out his sword again and slammed at my sword.

He didn’t look like he used much energy, but the force brought my blade crashing down
to the ground, shattering into pieces. Was he even human?! He grinned at me. “So…
do you want to die now…or should I make you a hostage too and then kill you later?”
He used a very arrogant tone, It pissed me off. “I still have another sword, dumbass!”
Again, the sword flashed deep red. Same as last time, an overwhelming amount of
strength spread throughout my body. I still didn’t know the reason for this, but I
didn’t bother to question it.

“I was waiting for that” he smirked, and I saw him grip his sword with both hands now,
the book stored into his large pant pocket. This time, he dashed straight towards me.
There was a diffrent aura around from him now, It felt more dangerous from before.
Playtime’s over, he was serious now. I could sense the killing intent in him. He slashed
at my shoulder, and I held my sword in a defensive stance. He wasn’t close enough
and he just slashed at the air, then dissapeared. Then I felt a sharp pain. I put my
free hand on my shoulder, and It was wet…wet with blood. There was a small scar.
How did he hit me…he wasn’t even close! He saw my confused face and immeditely
knew what I was thinking about.

“One of my many talents, Wind Cutter. I’m so fast, when I swing, the air pressure
turns into an invisble sword…well sort of like that anyway.” This was no good.
Then I suddenly remembered, the hostages! When I looked back at the net, they
were gone…I realized they managed to escape. Was It all right to leave Irine
back at Sleepywood? “Damn…forgot about them.” “Don’t worry Keith, I got them.”
The voice came from Maria . She was watching us the whole time!
Before I could say anything to her, she was already gone.

“So…let’s continue the fight, shall we?” Keith answered. I was already hot on Maria’s
trail, so I couldn’t hear the rest. He should of noticed me gone by now. I thought
Keith would catch up to me, but he couldn’t. With the scarlet sword in my hand,
I was like a hurricane. I was even close to Maria. I saw her look back at me with
an angry scowl. Oh the more reason to be pissed even more. She was right at
the entrance of the town when I caught up to her. I jumped down, landing right
in front of her. I released a howl of red mana with the swing of my blade. I also
wasn’t sure what I was doing, but at least something came out.

The attack pushed her back. I knew she was still injured from the last battle,
so she was helpless. “Stupid…kid” was all she could say, and then she closed her
eyes. I couldn’t tell if she was just unconscious, or dead, but I didn’t really care.
I hurried to Sleepywood to make sure they were all safe. All of them crowded around
me. “We’re sorry we left you there…we were just so scared…” that voice came
from the innkeeper. “It’s alright…If I were you, I would of done the same thing.”
I wanted to go back to the suana, but now was not the time. Any second, Keith
would be here. The strength sapped away fast. The sword wasn’t flashing anymore,
meaning I was defenseless against him now.

“Not so tough without your blade are you!” No good! He caught up to me. He
was enraged. He sliced at the air like a madman. The others were thinking if he
was crazy, but when they heard the screeching sounds, they knew what was up.
I still had some energy left. I managed to dodge most of them, but one landed on my
ankle. I collasped, too tired to get up. “Now…time to finish you!” Right when I
thought I was going to die, I saw a dozen of arrows flying, striking down Keith.

I looked up to see who it was. It was reinforcements from Henesys! I also
saw my instructor and Annie. What the heck were they doing here? Relieved
I wasn’t dead, I took a deep breather, and exhaled. Annie was the first to get to me.
“Are you hurt?!” I smiled and nodded, meaning I was okay. She rubbed some
ointment and then wrapped around bandages around my scars. I didn’t bother to
say a word. I might of fainted If I said another sentence. After the trek to Sleepywood,
the long trip inside ant tunnel, and a couple of fights really worned me out. I didn’t
feel it before, but now the pain came in to effect. There was lots of things I had to tell
them, and lots of things I wanted to know, but right now, all I felt like doing was sleeping,
so after Annie tended my wounds, I just lied down on the floor, slowly closing my eyes.
