Dark Wings – Sixth Stage

Stage 6 – Rika’s side of the story [Rika]
I woke up, dazed. I just had a really strange dream. It felt so real.
Was It real? I checked my room. I saw some footsteps on the carpet.
Did someone come in here? I asked myself, confused. Was I really
kidnapped by Takeshi? Then almost kissed Saki? “It was just a dream,
Riku.” I forced myself to think that. It was a dream, just like the time
some guy kissed me on the balcony. They were all just dreams.

Since It was Sunday, and we had to visit my grandma, so I changed
my clothes and went downstairs to eat some breakfast.

Riku’s mom: Good morning.
Riku: good morning mom.

My mom didn’t talk to me much. The only real thing she really
liked talking about was romance. Such a typical mom. Pretty
much the only reason why my dad married her was because
she’s pretty. Well she’s nice too, but my dad probaly only
cared about the pretty factor.

I got inside the car as my mom started the engine. Mom
was cursing some words cause the car wouldn’t start. She
really had a short temper when she’s grumpy. Well I guess
that goes for anyone. It took a while for mom to start the
engine. Well she didn’t really fix it. Just used up so much gas,
It forced the car to just start. Mom drove the car and headed
towards grandma’s house.

Rika’s Mom: Soooo…is there something you want to tell me?
Rika: What are you talking about?
Rika’s Mom: You know…about Saki.
Rika: What??! What about Saki? >_<
Rika’s mom: Come on. I have to pick you up from school
every day. I see you talking to him often.
Rika: Well…he’s my friend. That’s all.
Rika’s mom: Sure.

My mom’s mood just got so much better. Making fun of her
daughter is probaly a way to cheer her up. -_- Before we
could even make it to the freeway though, the car ran
out of gas. Mom forgot to refill the gas! Even if we had gas,
the car would of broken down anyway.

Rika: Didn’t dad give you some money to hire someone to fix this?
Rika’s mom: I spent the money on some other things. ;]
Rika: sighs*……………………..anyway why don’t you call
dad to help us out?
Rika’s mom: Forgot my cell phone.
Rika: sighs deeply*………………oh well I’ll go look for help.

I went over to the nearest house I saw. I was about to ring
the bell until I heard some noise inside the house.

Sky: Come on Saki…one more time. Magic Claw!
Saki: Ok god!…..Magic Claw!
Sky: Dang it you almost broke the tv!!
Saki: It’s harder than you think!!

They must be doing some drama play or playing some video
game, I thought. I rang the bell. I heard a voice. “Coming!”
The door opened and I found out who’s house this was.
It was Saki’s house!

Saki: Oh!! Um…Rika…how did you know where I lived?
Rika: I didn’t. Our car broke down and we need some help.
Could we use your phone?
Saki: Sure…

Saki led me to the kitchen. Their house was pretty cool. It had
a great view. There was many potraits on the walls and even
the ceilings. They must be art collectors. “Here’s the phone.”
Saki’s hand was a little shaky when he handed me the phone.
Was he nervous about something? At that moment, our eyes
were locked with each others. I suddenly thought about my
dream. When I almost kissed him. In a while, I blushed.
He turned around and then said “I’ll be right back.”

I could of swore he blushed a little too. But It wasn’t because
he liked me…was it? Well a boy and girl staring at each other
for 10 seconds eye to eye would make anyone blush. So
I just shurgged the idea off. I dialed my dad’s work
number and then put the phone in my ear. After some “dooit”
sounds, dad answered the call.

Dad: Hello this is the Korean Folk Town Army, how can we help you?
Rika: Dad, It’s me…Rika.
Dad: Rika? What is it?
Rika: Mom didn’t fix the car with the money you gave her.
Dad: I guessed that was the reason. ]:
Dad sighed deeply. He was probaly thinking about all that money
being spent on perfume and clothes she’ll stop wearing after a week.
Dad: So where are you?
Rika: Uh…Henesy Avenue.
Dad: K, I’ll be there in 30 minutes.
Rika: Thanks dad.

I hung up after that. Guess I was going to stay at Saki’s house for
a while. Saki went back into the kitchen and then told me if I was
hungry. Hungry? Who asks if you’re hungry once you go inside
their house? I said no and he suggested if I wanted to see his room.
So I nodded and followed him up the stairs.

On the way, I saw Saki whispering to his shoulder. Maybe he
watches too much tv. I tried imagining Saki in front of the tv
screen, drooling. Nah, he wouldn’t do that. I thought.
His room was cool. He had lots of anime posters, some mangas
lying on his bunk bed, and he had a balcony like my room.
I went to the balcony.

Rika: Wow, I can see my house from here.
Saki: Which one is it?
Saki’s tone was wierd when he asked me that question. It sounded
like he already knew where I lived but had nothing to talk about.
Rika: The red one with the balcony.
Saki: So…uh what are you doing for your history report?
Rika: I’m doing mine about Athena, the legendary archer.
Saki: I’m doing mine on Mushmom and Mushdad.

Saki showed me a drawing of Mushmom and Mushdad he drew.
He was a really good drawer. It was so detailed. It’s no wonder
he got an A in Art class.

Saki: Want me to draw Athena for you Rika?
Rika: Nah, but thanks the offer. :]

It was kind of wierd. We would be silent for a while, and than
talk about something really out of topic. Like my favorite
anime or I’d talk about food. To break the silence, I suggested
an idea.

Rika: Hey, do you want to climb the Henesy Hill?
Saki: Um…sure. My parent’s wouldn’t mind.

The henesy hill was once a hunting ground in the past. Now
It was just a hill with a really good view of the people below.
The hill wasn’t very steep, but if you wanted to go the fast
way, It was steep. When we were climbing the hill, every now
and then, Saki would look up on me. I could feel it. When I ask
him why he was looking at me, he would just say “Isn’t it cool
there’s flowers growing on these rocks.” I didn’t mind though.

When we reached the top of the hill, there was a giant breeze.
It was getting really cold. But, It was worth the climb. You could see most
of the town from this high. Everyone looked like ants. Gosh I hoped
Saki wasn’t a pervert. The wind was blowing really hard and It made
my skirt move a lot. He didn’t look at me, but his face was blushing.
After a while looking at the view, I thought It was about time to get back down.

Rika: Let’s get down. They’re probaly looking for us. The car
should be fixed by now too.
Saki: Yeah. Let’s go down.

Than suddenly, there was no breeze. Instead, a huge gush of wind came.
The wind pushed me foward a little and then I fell, hurtling towards the ground
from 400 feet high! Saki jumped in a desperate attempt to save me, but he
failed and then we both fell and then feel unconcious.

When I woke up, I realized I didn’t have bruises or anything. I was sitting
on something really hard. It didn’t feel like the rock, but whatever It was, It
kind of felt good to sit on. It was not long until I realized I was sitting on Saki!

Saki: Um…could you get off me Rika?
Rika: Oh…sorry Saki! Did you save my fall?
Saki: Yeah. Are you hurt Rika?
Rika: You saved my fall remember? Of course I’m not hurt!
The question is if you’re okay!

Another huge gush of wind came. If me and Saki didn’t hold on to
something, we would be blown off! I hugged the closest thing to me.
Which…was actually Saki. I was so embarassed. Saki’s face was really
beet red, and so was mine. It took us a while to calm down. Seconds
later, Saki talked to me.

Saki: We need to climb back up. Where we are right now, there’s no way
we can get back down on this route.

I looked down and he was right. There were no rocks for us to jump on
and if we jumped down so it would basicially mean breaking our bones
or dying if we tried to go down from here. We began to climb, but as I
got up, I felt intense pain in my legs. I couldn’t move. Since
I couldn’t well move, Saki carried me up. I didn’t really like the idea,
but I couldn’t move, so I let him carry me .

Saki: Hold on tight Rika.
Rika: No kidding.

He climbed about 50 feet high until he asked me if my legs were okay.
It wanted to climb myself, but I couldn’t climb, so I said my legs still hurt.
I saw him sweat a lot. He was stronger than I thought. He already climbed
100 feet high. It was hard to climb this hill. There wasn’t many ledges, so
It was easy to fall. Yet he kept going. Most people would of given up by now.
When he was almost at the top, he slipped. We came hurtling down a huge
distance. I was scared. What was going to happen? I closed my eyes and
prayed for a miracle. Then I heard Saki’s dad’s voice.

He caught us just in time before we fell. That was close. One second late
and we could of broken our bones.

Saki’s dad: Heh, I caught you two just in time.
Riku: Thanks.

My mom came and ran to me. Very worried. The same for Saki’s mom.

Riku’s mom: We were so worried! Don’t ever go somewhere before telling me!
Saki’s mom: Same goes for you Saki!

Saki couldn’t hear her though. He was exahasted. He carried me up to 200 feet high!
He was unconscious then. At the end of the day, my mom told me she explained
to grandma why we couldn’t go to her house, thanked Saki’s mom and dad, and we
went straight back home.

Riku’s mom: What happened to you Riku?
Riku: We climbed the Henesy hill, and then the huge breeze pushed me
and I fell. Saki jumped and then caught me. We climbed back the up the hill
cause It was impossible to go down at where we were. We almost reached
the top, then we slipped and then Saki’s dad caught us.
Riku’s Mom: And how did he save you exactly?
Riku: Er well, he grabbed me in time and we landed on part of the hill.
Riku’s Mom: What really happened to you two? ?.?
My mom then changed from serious tone to a happy tone.

Riku’s Dad: Just leave Riku alone, she already fell of a
hill twice today.
Riku’s Mom: Fine…fine.

When we got home, I just lied on my bed, exhausted. Saki was probaly doing
the same. He was more exhausted than me of course. That night I thought
about him a lot. Even at dinner I was thinking about him. When my mom and
dad looked at me and asked me what i was thinking about, I would blush.
Why did I blush for? Was It because…I liked Saki?
