I hit level forty the other day and I’ve been looking for a challenge as it’s getting a little boring just fighting and fighting and fighting with no real changes so I figured I’d do something crazy and solo Mushmom.

I checked channel after channel in the beginning looking for an empty spot and eventually found one. While I was waiting there I was killing iron pigs over and over again. People would suddenly show up and some would leave without a problem but some would wait until they saw that I was still playing before they left.

I was hanging out with another person for a while who was also a level 40 sin. He just wanted to see if he could hit Mushmom while I was fully outfitted for the long haul of fighting her. All of a sudden a level 87 dragon knight jumps down, kills a small group of Iron Pigs and Mushmom spawns in front of him. Before I even get down off of the vine nearby Mushmom is dead and the DK has left.

So I leave that channel and the next channel I go to has the dragon knight waiting there. With how perfect his timing was I figure he’s got things figured out and he says he’s been tracking that Mushmom since her last spawn and that he didn’t mean to just jump in and waste her like that. I explained what I was doing and he thought it was a fun idea so he was going to wait around until he saw if I could handle her and if I couldn’t he’d finish her off.

So we wait around for a while killing pigs and he eventually reasons that he must have missed the spawn and someone else already took her out so he takes off. While we were waiting a mage shows up and we talk about it all and she decides to take over his role. She’ll let me try but if I can’t she’ll kill Mushmom.

This all goes fine until two more people show up and once again Mushmom spawns. Between the four of us Mushmom doesn’t take very long and I get the exact bit of information I needed: That I can hit her and do a decent amount of damage. I may miss quite a few shots but I do manage to hit so now all I need is a clean channel and a good spawn.

So I head to another channel where I’m hanging out yet again and after about thrity minutes two people show up from a clan. They’ve been hunting Mushmom spawns so that the Hermit in the group can hunt for Ilbis. No matter what I say to begin with it’s just “STFU Noob”, “You’ll die so fast” and when I try to explain that he’s just being greedy he says he’s more powerful than me so he can be that way.

I mention that I’m a nice person and that nice people should really get the benefits, not those who could care less about anyone other than themselves and his response is: “If you are so nice why don’t you change channels?”. He proceeds to trash my character and also starts trashing his clan mates character because they put one point in the wrong thing.

So finally Mushmom spawns and of course the two of them kill her (though they took longer than two lvl 40 sins, one level 50 sin and a lvl 55 mage and they were both level 70) and he doesn’t get his Ilbis so they switch to a new channel and so do I. I’ve decided that this is my last time trying this as I’ve spent an awful amount of time and money on this so I do my normal enemy killing.

Suddenly I see that the pigs have stopped respawning as fast and I realize that she’s coming. I head down the rope and when I reach the bottom Mushmom spawns. I start hammering away at her with jump attack after jump attack and find out that I take more than half damage from a single earthquake attack but I’m ready with the potions.

At one point I get caught in the corner and between regular hits, the earthquake and me hitting dark sight (so I can’t use potions) I almost manage to die. I actually came down to less than 50 HP. I keep myself healed up and keep downing magic potions and I find the pattern to her attacks so I start to go for longer and longer with no damage at all.

I’ve been keeping rough count of the damage I’ve done and after about five minutes I’m almost up to the halfway point when I suddenly see a red 2000 show up over her head as a mage has fallen down and started to blast away. Then their other party member shows up and between the two of them the battle is over in instants. I didn’t reach enough damage to qualify for getting the items but it’s only a spore and some cash so that’s not as bad.

I now know that I could manage to kill Mushmom as a level 40 assassin but it will take long enough to leave a wide open window for the higher levels to walk in and take things over. With me only hitting about one in eight shots yet doing anywhere from one to four hundred damage it’s just not a fast thing. It seems like it would be in my best interest to wait for another level or two (full critical hit!) before trying it out again.

Mushmom the next time we fight, you are going down.
