Lots of people are posting questions about the Blacklist/ Watchlist, or whatever it is called in Global. Since I’m bored, and I left my thumbdrive with my story’s softcopy at home (I’m at a school computer lab now) and my quest to find oyster eggs here is getting tedious beyond belief, I shall just write an entry about it. To, you know, clear things up, and hopefully feel less bored and more accomplished afterwards. I’ve experimented with it when it first came to Maplesea, so I think I know some stuff about it. (I definitely do not know the correct name of that feature. So sue me.)
Feel free to correct me if I’m not right. I was probably left.

1) It does not let you ‘ignore’ the character
At least, in my experience with it, it doesn’t. I added my buddy to the list, and deleted him off the buddy list, and still, he could whisper to me. So you don’t get reprieve from stalkers/ beggars/ whatever strange creature you find in the Maple Freakshow Menagerie.
2) It does not make whoever that’s on the List invisible.
I also checked if I could still see my guinea pig buddy on the screen, and there he still was, in the magnificence of all his lvl 80 archer armour. (I was so jealous I wished I could just poke him through the monitor. :X)
So much for my plans to take over the world by entering Invisible mode after making the entire Maple population add me to the Blacklist/ Watchlist. Boo.
3) It does not tell you if the people on it are online or not
It’s just what its name says: a list. The names will sit there prettily, like 25 blackbirds on a wall, watching, watching, watching. I know about this, because I tried to add the name of my nemesis onto the list. It didn’t alert me to whether he was online or not, so I couldn’t stalk –
Erm. I didn’t just say that.
4) It does not give you cookies.
Not even plain old choc’ chips. And that’s plain mean. I mean, if you had a lot of names on the list, maybe it should give you cookies to cheer you up for having to have so many people on the Blacklist. [strike] It must be tiring to watch out for so many enemies. [/strike]
5) Finally and most importantly, it does not do anything. Nothing at all.
Other than displaying other IGNs, it really doesn’t do anything else useful. Unless, of course, you have such a bad memory and such an addiction for Maple that you created twenty over characters in the game, and you need help to remember all their IGNs.
Wait a second, that sounds a lot like me. Hmm.
I’ve come to the end of the list, and I still feel as bored as before, if a little bit more amused. Ah well. Back to oyster egg farming goodness in KoL.
[Edit] Hmm. I’ve just gone through the comments, and saw a couple of testimonials that the Blacklist actually does block trades/whispers/chats. As I said, I’m not completely certain that my information is accurate (hence ‘Unofficial’), but it’s just based on my own experiments with my guinea pig buddy. Repeated experiments are recommended; only I killed off all my guinea pigs- Oops.

XD. Well, we’ll just see how things go, then, if I ever need to store names. At least I’ll know where to put potential nublet stalkers so I can turn the tables on them.
But maybe, just maybe, it’s different from SEA’s watchlist? I mean, it says there ‘blacklist’. With a little skull and crossbones. That’s gotta count for something. Oh well, we’ll see. But how dare it not give you cookies. cpplkies? Ouch. But anyway, how dare it not. >[

blacklist (global)/watchlist (sea) is a list for extra buddies if ur budy list is full
but what iit is REALLY for is for tracking down people. if theres someone u want ur guild, or friends, or whatever maybe yourself to defame to something, u put his or her name on the black/watchlist so u wont forget his/her name.
Not everyone here lives in America, windia.

Well, the blacklist is incredibly convienient for PQing. I just add the names of PQ’ers to that list so I don’t have to go searching around for a pencil every time I find a new track. I don’t even use my old -pencil and paper- track sheet anymore.
I really like the Blacklist. ^^b
So basically, it’s just a useless piece of junk, =_=;; lol , unless you used it to track people, >.<;;
NO, i use it to add my buddies. Tracking is easier when written on paper. Cuz a good tracker copies down all the names and will end up with about 100 names.

The blacklist may be quite helpful for Basil though, you see their IGN’s so you can remember to whisper them, im tired of having 17 buddy list slots. >.>

I dunno, strange experience with me, I added a buddy to my watch list and I couldn’t hear what he was saying in Buddy, Party, Guild, or all chat.
At that time, i didn’t know hat the Blacklist did, so while I was standing next to him and talking to him i thought he died XD
i’m in sea -_- it dosen’t do anythin n it’s called the watch list.it dosen’t do anythin, well i use it as an spare friends list

Seriously, if it works like that, then maybe the Blacklist is much more useful than the Watchlist of Msea. Unfair!

I know what it can do, If someone defames you, you can jot down his name and seek for revenge the next time he’s online. That’s what I do anyway XD

It’s not summer in Asia, they have school again.
I’m in SEA. Cassiopeia if it makes any difference. What I’ve known is that you are unable to receive whispers or trade with the person in your watchlist. The reason I know this is because I use my watchlist to add people that I need to trade with when their buddy list is full. I have to delete them off the watchlist before I can see their whispers, and I have to innitiate the trade first if they are still on my watchlist.
Well, i put in names of people i dislike in real life AND in the game
I mean, if you noticed, the name which you put in into the blacklist does not have to exist in the game. I mean, i put in JSKGDDFD and it still added.
The only requirement is to have a name with 4-13 characters in it

Uh. . . I have school too and it IS summer. Summer School=children that’s parents have nothing for them to do so they send them to school.
And the Black list is just something to help people remind if this certain guy is an %^$&@^#. That’s all.

why is it called BLACKLIST if its equal to a buddy list? it doesn’t sound right,
