What hurts more than someone coming out of nowhere and, with a few clicks, sending your work into oblivion?

Not much. Except maybe if that person physically stabs you with a dagger. I know, because I have lost stuff that I worked hard on before.

I thought the vandal incident was bad enough. devilrymage, tarheel, Cor and a good bunch of other writers got their fanfics erased just like that. Even my own blogs were defaced; good thing that bitter past experiences made me keep backups.

But we could blame that incident on some insensitive idiot with too much time and a vulnerability on the site in its hands. And to our relief, it’s all over. captain did a good job on that one, fixing it rather quickly once we reported it to him.

This time though, captain was the one that destroyed the work of others. He deleted one entire RP forum. From what I hear, it was because of one post by yet another insensitive idiot with too much time in its hands. Black sheep and all; usually we just shave the black wool off that sheep, not slaughter the whole herd. (excuse the imagery.)

I feel for you, RP-ers. I myself was having fun reading that thread. It was quality work, and was really great. I feel disappointed that I didn’t even get to see what happened after that random one-liner I chucked in; I can’t imagine how bad the rest of you, who have practically built up that thing on your own, feel.

Still, when I said that captain might be having a hard time too, I mean it. Don’t you think someone will feel helpless too when he only has so much control over what he creates? It’s like your own truck running away from you because you can’t work out that new braking mechanism.

I hear some of you saying you are so disappointed and want to give up. Don’t. That’s just what that insensitive idiot had in mind: it just wanted to ruin the fun we have. Start it again, and start it with a vengeance. All your characters are there, wacky and insane. Perhaps you could, uh, create a monster called Insensitive Idiot and have the goal of the RP to murder him or something. Phlame him to itsy bits of ashes and scatter it into oblivion. I’ll help. ^^

But yeah, captain, if you’re reading this: Restore the forum the best way you can. Please?
