My definition of “Noob”

Well it isn’t a rant but it will be. Many people use the term “noob” to describe some of those who play Maple Story, as well as other MMO’s and FPS’s (it is a common noun and can be used outside of the gaming context), however when I call someone that, many take the wrong offense.

Newb; Noob; n00b; nooblet; noobz0r etc.
adj. nooby, noobish..
   1. Online term for “newbie,” someone who is new to something (game, event).
   2. In MMOs, a low level character, usually lower than the person calling them a noob.
   3. In Maple Story, someone who, usually below level 20, walks around asking for free money, free items, or asking if you can train them because they’re too lazy to do it themself.
   4. Someone who doesn’t know how to play and gets fragged (killed) often with zero or negative kills.
   5. Someone who is incredibly, annoyingly stupid. Not restricted to a certain level, this can include:
      a. A person who, as soon as you sign on or come to a channel with monsters in it, says “cc plz” or something similar, even though you said/did nothing.
      b. A person who comes to the channel you are training on and starts/continues to ks you.
      c. A person who gets extremely pissed off if you openly state you have a problem with their attitude, grammar and or courtesy (or lack thereof). They usually need anger management.
      d. A person who, if called a noob for one of the above stated reasons, gets very offended and starts to list out all their “High level” characters and all their connections (guilds, other “pros&quot, threatening and, as they hope, scaring you into submission.
      e. A person who calls themself a pro (and may not like it if you do not bow to them accordingly).
      f. Last but not least, hackers. Because they can’t just train their characters themself, they have to vac to an appropriate level (directly proportionate to their ego).
      g. Secondly last but not least, those who may not hack but have a problem with you hating them. They like to befriend and take advantage of hackers and others, selfishly only to get themselves further in the game, and are no better than the rest of the noobs stated.
      h. Oh! Almost forgot those people who try so hard to insult you when they can’t even spell the names they are trying to call you

Examples: “ROFL U THINK IM NOOB I GOT A 82 CRUSADER LOLZ”
“wow ur stupid i can get 3 guilds ksing and defaming ur ass”
“sdfu binthc” (I’ve been called this once for saying I like warriors.)
IrThief of Broa. He knows all and if you don’t agree, you’re an idiot. He also listed all his high level characters that we don’t care about.

No hate to ‘Saders, though I do prefer WKs.
I could add more, but I can’t think of any and I’m sure you get the picture. It is the last one (stupid people), that I most use the term “noob” to describe. And I hate noobs. Flames are welcome, I’d love examples for my viewers. Anyone who wants to share their experiences are more than welcome to, as well =)

I might make a definition of “pro” too. Dunno. Happy mapling to you all, and stay away from noobs, they’re bad for you

  1. Lol, I just laugh at people who call me a Newbie, In truth, there are only 5 people in all of Maple Story that can call me a Newbie aside from the GM’s and that is due to the sole fact that they were the only people on Maple Story before me when it first came out as a Beta in Japan and Korea (seeing that they came out barely after one another).

Funniest moment and arguement when I was ever called a newb by a guy who just started playing:
I was on Ikizen (my cleric) and I was fighting undead mushies in the ant tunnel. I was kicking their butts pretty fiercely and got thrown to the bottom of the stage. Since I was at low life and almost out of mana, I decided to heal and in turn of my doing so, I took out a group of mushies that a warrior had been slash-blasting the crap out of. He F5’d me and yelled, “You stupid newb, killing all my stuff!” and wouldn’t stop following me. I ran up to the ladder, climbed it and waited at the top and told him, “Dude, sorry about the KS, I healed before I saw any of the mushies there AND I have my map closed, ” and yet, for some odd reason, his 3 foot thick skull wouldn’t let my words sink in. So I ran back a moment later, after I leveled and he saw what I was wearing and appologized to me and famed me up for being honest with him. -.- Some people need to learn that not all KS’s are intentional X_X

    LMAO HAHAH nice one there

i can tell when people will do that

to shut them up i say: and i bet after that last statement your going to say something along the lines of ‘i got a lvl 78 mage’

    they hate being wrong

  4. well hackers aren’t noobs at all lol unless they’re leechers, leakers or just pure stupidity who uses hack in the middle of FM channel 1 true hackers require knowledge of many stuff, from the basic of memory editing to the advanced assembly and debugging, and even programming languages,c,delphi,vb,lingo and etc so i think generally hackers are more “pro” than legit gamers out there, good hackers hack not to get high lvl and fame in game, they hack to test their knowledge ^^ thats my P.O.V. tho and for the rest, they are very very true

Yeah, I should point out that–I don’t really mean . . . uh, as one would call them, ‘real’ hackers. . . Or, good hackers as you say XD Just the nooby ones that we all likes to report on Maple.

  8. hm i like this blog because it actually tells people what the word noob means. people rant on and on using, ” Royal Noob, Nooblet, Nub, etc. “
and yet how they beg for free mesos and equips are really sad. i try not to say anything to people no matter what level because of the fact that i was and will become that level oneday.
