Ah, I see this place is still infested

With fanficcers, that is. Christ I’ve been gone for a long time, and there still isn’t at least a fiction section. Shall we all refresh our minds about what a blog is?

Webster’s New Millennium™ Dictionary of English:
Main Entry: blog (n.)
Definition: to author an online diary or chronology of thoughts.
Definition: an online diary; a personal chronological log of thoughts published on a Web page; also called Weblog, Web log.
Definition: a personal Web site that provides updated headlines and news articles of other sites that are of interest to the user, also may include journal entries, commentaries and recommendations compiled by the user; also written web log, Weblog; also called blog
Definition: a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies

So, how was your MMO day? Speaking in third person about a character that doesn’t even exist in the specified game world does not count as a blog. Generally when one writes in a diary it’s written in first person and is usually past-tense, whether in a characterized role or not (as would be the case for RPers, which is normal in the world of Role Playing Games). And since when did blogs have chapters? “New chapter up, please read!” Oh I see, a new chapter in your life? What, no, it’s a telltale account of the life of some fictional character that exists only in the mind of the self-titled “author”.

Thanks again to the makers of MMO Tales, for reminding us just what it means to “blog”.

Oh, for your own good, if you’re gonna flame (I’m sure you want to) don’t tell me that I should leave–does it look like I stick around here much? (If you’re slow, the answer is no.) Later, and have fun with your (no) lives! Everyone loves it when people write essays about morality in kiddy MMOs. ;D
