Passion’s Soul: Act Two

Author’s Note:

Okay, this is the real one. Trust me, haha.

Back to my original style of writing. Please, do flame me if this was horrible, because my writer’s block is becoming permanent. Worsening by the second, actually.

Laklyn slowly regained consciousness as she felt a pair of hands holding her. The cold glass of a potion bottle came in contact with her lip as she opened her eyes. A dark shape coaxed her into drinking the content of the bottle. Blushing slightly in the dark, she accepted the bottle and moved away from the figure, sitting upright on the pavement.

“Thanks,” she muttered softly.

The figure showed no sign of replying, simply dropping a letter and vanishing. Laklyn smiled as she read the letter in the dim light and stroked the communicator. She had a guild. A group to call family, perhaps. Still, a glimpse of hope shore in the night sky.

Laklyn trudged off home slowly, trying to ignore the chest pain she was enduring. The Fire Arrow had inflicted some of her ribs, and the potions still could not fix up. Maybe she should call up a cleric to heal her sometime. In the meantime, she stripped off her amour and donned herself in a Red Suana Robe.

Collapsing onto her bed, she stared into empty space.

I’m fading away into the darkness, where the hands of the devil strangle me. I fight for life, but what is the point? Should I live, the burdens of life will smash my soul, my spirit into even smaller shard than it already is.

Maybe I shall fight against the devil, and go into God’s open arms. He could take me somewhere far from reality, into a place so heavenly I would stay there forever. I could be freed from the horrors of this world, and living in my own fantasies. Swimming in the stream of this land, or climbing the trees of heaven, all in my own imagination.

All fruitless fantasies,
Everything I need.

Deep in thought, Laklyn finally fell asleep, stirring in her bed.

~Dream Sequence~

Hello, young soul,
I see you are down.
Fear not, my child,
Thou the Reaper are come.

I’ll free you of your misery,
I’ll cure all the pain.
Come with me,
And enjoy the riches you will gain.

Dance with me,
Sing along to this song.
Forget about love,
The pain is too long.

Let the devil take you away,
I will answer all your needs,
All I ask from you, young one,
Is to perform disastrous deeds.

Over time, Laklyn grew closer to the guild, treating them as her only family. It was true, in a way. The past was forgotten in the depths of her mind, and new happiness soaked in. The cheery guild never failed to put a smile on her face. For once in her life, she felt content.

Life progressed in a tedious but comforting schedule. Training was becoming a rhythm with a beat. Savage Blow, jump, Savage Blow, kill. The same thing was repeated over many hours, until her energy was completely drained. Laklyn then dragged herself home and collapsed onto the bed.

Soon, the job advancement grew nearer, and it was time to see the Dark Lord once more to test her mastered skills. Her guild bid her farewell at the Orbis Station, and Laklyn bought herself a ticket. The station was jam-packed with people trying to get to Victoria Island for the holidays, so the cabins were limited.

Still, Laklyn managed to get herself a cabin, but it was highly uncomfortable. She slammed her bag on the straw bed and headed to the dinner. Maybe the so-called luxurious boat had its comforts in it.

After walking into the dinner, she realized how wrong she was. The dinner was more of a McDonald’s, mostly selling fast food. Sighing, Laklyn walked towards the long line and waited. Suddenly, she heard her name being called.

“Laklyn.” The faint voice seemed familiar.

Like most people, she looked around for that voice, and spotted…no, not him…

He had not changed a lot since she last saw him. The same hair, bulky build, and fake concerned voice. Nothing ever changes, Laklyn thought.

“Laklyn,” the voice spoke again, “Where have you been?”

No longer able to deny its existence, she turned and faced the man.
“What the hell do you want, Mavifour?”
