Level up!

Currently listening tooooo: Utopia

Meh gosh, I’ve been here a lot lately.

Anyway, the words “LEVEL UP”. I haven’t seen those in a looooong time now. I blame it on the giant lump of leveling boredom that bowman go through due exclusively to low hp and a lack of flash jumpy mobility. Sure, it’s nice to see good, high number each hit of a strafe, but it’s sobering to know that if even one of those high numbers were to strike us, we’d get either knocked out, or put on the brink of death. Things weren’t always hard though. To prove that, I have put together a nice little (long) summary of my life as a ranger… seriously. This is gonna be lengthy.

A noob is born…

1-9: I’m reeeally new to this game, but the controls are uber-easy to understand. I walk around, killing snails, pleased with the amounts of level ups I gain. But soon enough I wonder…’I’m leveling up, but I’m not getting any stronger! What’s the deal?’. I then pushed the ‘s’ key and BAM! Ability points galore! Being level 7, I had 35 to distribute. I knew that a healthy dose of STR would boost my attack, so I put quite a few points in there. But of course, balance is important, so I put a few points in everything! INT, DEX, and LUK. I didn’t like guessing though, so I looked up some archer builds on the internet…

*Erases nublet*
AceValkyrie is born…

1-9: NOW I knew what to do. Both skills and ability points had their place! Being a nublet, I was oblivious to how super lame the cookie-cutter build system was. But anyway! My journey began. Snails were killed, and so were mushrooms eventually. How VERY scary those things were. I read their description online. It mentioned that more advanced players could 1 hit kill them. At that point I thought “WHAT KIND OF MONSTER CAN DO THAT???” Anyway, eventually I reached level 10…it was hard. Only two Maple island quests were out at the time.

10-19: Me: “ZOMG! I’M A BOWMAN! …. Whadda I do nao, Athena?”
Athena: *Headdesk*

A few minutes later

“ZOMG! 0.50% a kill?? This is SO slow!” My nubbish self whined as I shot arrows from a bow that I STRUGGLED TO buy. Slowly but surely, I leveled myself to a super smexy 15. Also for some unexplained reason, I found dozens of drops from the pigs I trained on oh-so patiently, so fundage for more arrows and level 15 stuffs wasn’t a problem. Yes. I had to buy arrows. Back then, stiff arrows only dropped from Lupins. EVIL MONKEYYY!

20-29: I’m finally sinking my tiny claws into the game. Again, this is back when there were barely any quests, so I only had pure grindage. Equipped with mah slick new level 20 stuff, I went out to explore the world around Henesys. Nothing really important during these levels to note. I never pqed because contact with other people scared me. =(. Eventually I got my level 25 stuff. During 25-30, I fell to the fate that almost everyone who has ever played MS has fallen to at least once…

GOLEM PIT!

30-39: Me: “ZOMG! I’M A HUNTER! I CAN MAKE ARROWS A’SPLODE! =DDDD”

Athena: *Headdesk*

After my 2 hour power trip, I decided it was time to venture EVEN FURTHER! So off to Ossyria I went! Woo! Sentinels or “Stoneballs” were a lot more powerful than the GMS site made them seem. o.o After being blasted and killed by a few shots, I went back to Vic with my tail between my legs. When there, I went to the Ant-tunnel under the advice of my friend. Later on, there were boars, in one of the most boring periods of my life. 0.0x percent a kill. (But at least you could 1 hit kill them >.> ) Incidentally, level 35 bowman clothes are SMEXY!

UUUUUUUUUUUBER LONG HIATUS, during which Ludi, and a whole bunch of new quests came out

40-49: Lookin’ good in my level 40 clothes, and with a brand new bow called the vaulter (strange name), I ventured around Vic, finishing new quests and competing with others doing them as well. Off of the quests, both pro and noob, I managed to get to about 43. Next of course, I fed my curiosity and went to Ludi where I discovered…

*Holy organ and choir*

The Ludi pq. BEFORE noobs infested it. *girlish sigh*

It was fun. Really fun. People were really patient, and more than willing to teach you. Or if you were like me, sitting back and observing experts and work was also allowed. Of course, no instructions were needed at the big boss. Banding together and killing bosses is admittedly my ‘fix’. And then the bonus. Getting rewards or not, all chance. I liked it. And then I got my first prize – an earring scroll. That was an easy 3.5mil way back then. My gawd, those were good times. Could they get any better???

MUSIC CHANGE! Dawn

50-…hell, 69: Yes they could, and did. THESE 20 LEVELS WERE THE GOLDEN AGES! A large variety of monsters to choose from (Luster pixies, Golems since mixed ones weren’t out, big kitties, Zombies while the maps were nice and flat, Kargos for the risky people, and so on), and a WONDERFUL boost in power to go with it. Also, I was wearing a Kimono. A KIMONO! How cool is that?! Receiving fame from people, killing monsters easily, it was all so good. At level 60, sure, the exp gainage wasn’t the % it once was, but the additional boost of power from my asianic bow was more than enough to cover it. Also, level 60 stuff is aweshum. WOOOOOOOOO! GOOD TIMES! Still are, what with the new pqs, and even LARGER amount of monsters to train on.

70-79: Me: “ZOMG! I R RANGER! I CAN LIGHT STUFF ON FIRE NAO! =DDDD” *Runs across the ocean to Ellinia*

Rene: “What have I done?” o.o

Sweet level, slick looking stuff, amazing people with my super weak strafe…life was still decent. However, even with new skills…things get boring pretty fast. 0.03% a monster wears you down. Although, at my high 70’s, I went to Death Teddies definitely a good change. Still though. Boooooring.

80-89: Listen, and listen good. I don’t like the way the pris looks. I don’t like the way the cordon looks. I don’t mind the wing boots much. The marine arund looks cool. Do you see where I’m going? Perhaps Lady Silvar knows what comes next…

I HATE THE LEVEL 80 BUCKET HAT! Why exactly our tiny bodies don’t collapse under the combined pressure of our giant heads is what scientists call a miracle. But why they don’t collapse under a hat even BIGGER than our heads? No explanation for that. I could probably get the same image by wearing a GIANT ROCK! A G-I-A-N-T R-O-C-K!

That aside…

Things get seriously boring at this point. =/ I was now getting 0.05-0.04% from monster that took MULTIPLE HITS to kill. But hey! The thought of a cool looking metus and the lack of a GIANT BUCKET on my head kept me going. Eventually I switched from Death teddies to squids. Better.

90-92 (present): Good. No more bucket hat. Would’ve gotten a metus, but there’s this whole problem with them costing an arm and a leg. So…arund for now. However, you should know…

I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE! Endless grindage! 0.03% from monsters that I take MANY hits to kill! It’s just too insane! Bossng? Fuggedaboudit! Not with my ultra-low hp and lack of party skills! Can’t do that until I’m over 100! And with exp rates, I can’t do that unless some ultra awesome news monster comes out, OR I cave in and buy a double exp card (not happening). And so, I have drifted into semi-retirement.

END LIFE

And that is my story. Sorry if I may have bored ya. But as I said, I’m in semi-retirement, meaning I do not train. If you ever find me on Scania, stay and talk a while. Company is never bad. =)

Thank you all for reading, and remember why you maple, maplers…
