Maple Story Anime Characters revealed!

This news is kinda behind time, totally slipped my mind to post this. Shown below is the MapleStory anime designs. Seriously, I’m very disappointed. My face expression right now would probably looked like those 2 characters below; glum, uninterested. They do not look even one bit like the cute characters that populate the Korean MMORPG. They looked like anything but fun which is what the original was all about. There has already been many people who has been skeptical to it when it was announced that it’s gonna be made into an anime. And now the revelation of these not so cute design is definitely not doing it any good. The show gonna air this coming October on TV Tokyo, but this anime seriously fail to live up to many people’s expectation out there. The only one that looks anything remotely close is to the original is the pig. Heck, it’s exactly the same!

By the way, Japan’s Madhouse animation studio is in charge of creating an animated adaptation of Nexon Japan’s popular online MMORPG Maple Story. No further details are available although Nexon Japan does mention they hope to telecast the animation in each country where the game is available in the future.

Background: The online game first beta tested in Japan in August 2003 and today claims 1.4 million memberships there, mostly made up of those in their teens. The free, 2D, side-scrolling MMORPG boasts several versions of the game available for specific countries or regions and an estimated 50 million players have participated in all of its versions to date.
