I didn’t die!

Thanks muchly to Ganzicus for explaining how to upgrade my equips in GE; I haven’t died in Al Quelt yet! I haven’t tried to escape it either. I just decided, like Silver, to hang about til my family reaches level 20.

I had, however, forgotten that magic items break after +4. I got confused and switched it around. Ganz had patiently explained to me over MSN that magic items (such as those used for wizard and ele) break after you get them to +4. Everything else breaks after +5.

When an item breaks, it’s GONE, forever. I vaguely remembered Ganz saying he lost an important item (musket? sorry I forgot) this way; but in my haste and excitement to upgrade stuff, I ended up losing my ele’s fire robe. I just stared at the screen as a vivid red text said something very pleasantly about “Unfortunately you have lost fire robe” or something like that.

Yes, make those fail notices pleasant… haha and hope your players don’t yell cos they lost a very high-levelled item. (joking) Luckily my item wasn’t high-levelled, and also luckily that I had vis coming out of my arse, cos I was able to buy another fire robe and upgrade it to +4.

Just go to Idge and select the option about enchanting an item, then drag whatever you want into the little box, making sure that it’s unequipped first. The rest of it is pretty straightforward, in my opinion. At my level, it cost anywhere from 50~90 vis per upgrade, depending on what I was upgrading. It seemed magical items cost a bit more to upgrade, but that makes sense: you can lose them sooner.

After upgrading my equips, I rushed to the waypoint and warped to Al Quelt, which I stared at with a sort of manic glee before rushing inside. I knew now I would no longer die here. I was also more careful, stopping every few seconds to kill the mob train behind me, or if I spied another family, run to them for “protection”: their members would kill the mobs following me since they were botting. Er, I mean, in patrol mode. Haha.

I made it to the point I usually die at, and I was still alive! Huzzah! But then my brother wanted to go eat so I had to unfortunately quit the game. XD

GE, you are back on my played list again. But now I’m going to go check out the new stuff in GMS… or, wait. Maybe I ought to level a bit more first, haha. I don’t imagine my level 15’s surviving.

  1. Ya. That’s not very expensive, considering you’re supposed to keep your equips for 8 levels or so (I was reading at the GE forums one day).

  2. Well.

    I upgraded my godly Rough Katana to a +6. It’s a lvl 16 weapon, I think.
I’m still using at lvl 30. It rocks so much. :3

Congratulations on staying alive! Sides, while you’re in Al Quelt, you might as well hang around Al Quelt Pasomethingsomething and hunt down those Seigmunds. I’m still trying to get Room One’s, but it refuses to spawn no matter how long I wait. >O

  3. Ohemgee how did you get it to +6 without the dreaded phail? Lol.

Thanks, hehe it’s my greatest accomplishment in that game yet! I’m on that Seigmund quest, and I haven’t been able to get any to spawn except for one time.

  4. Well, if you’re in a room and it doesn’t have Seigmund, just change channels. One of them usually should have a Seigmund somewhere. I got all my other rooms’ Seigmunds this way, in reverse numerical order (because I started from room 22. )

And that +6 was an accident; I didn’t know about the breaking past +4 thing, and I just kept upgrading blindly.
