I had left my home that day in Maple Island, bid farewell to my family and friends who had all wished me the best of luck. I had left my pet bunny, Chibi, in the care of my little brother; hoping to be reunited with her one day when I had become a full-fledged Ranger.

The sun shone through the branches and the warm summer breeze played with my hair, a perfect day to start a new chapter in my never-ending story. On the path to South Perry I met many strangers who were all friendly and gave me advice, even items to help me on my way.

I looked at the snowboard questioningly… how did such a big thing pop out of a little snail? Ah, no point in asking questions I had a new weapon to use. The monsters were fairly easy and I was able to complete several favours for the villagers who being terrorized by monsters. Finally, at the end of the town I found Shanks ordering his crew around. He must be getting ready to set off! I ran towards him cursing the steps which I had to pretty much jump over…

“Wait! I need to get on that ship!” I said breathlessly.
“Well, hello miss. You arrived just in time. As long as you pay 150 mesos you’re welcome aboard,” smiled Shanks.

I handed him the money and climbed the plank up onto the ship. My dream come true… within a couple of hours I will set foot onto Victoria Island. I wonder what new monsters, people, and adventures I will encounter. I heard the plank fall and the anchor rising… the masts filled with strong wind and we were off! The air smelled of new adventures… then in the distance I saw a glimpse of something ominous with wings like a bat. But when I blinked it was gone. Had I imagined it?
I suddenly remembered what my grandmother had told me; about the fearful Crimson Balrog which patrolled the skies above Victoria Island. Of course I had always dismissed it as a legend, something grandmothers and mothers told their children so that they would behave. At this time I did not know how wrong I was…
