Losing Forever (Numero Six)

Jessie smacked her forehead and started to head home.
Forget training.. I’ve gotta tell Blair. By the time Jess got home, Blair was cleaning the dishes.
“Blair, Blair, Blaaaaaiiiiiiirrrrrrrrr! You will never guess what happened,” Jess said in a sing-songy voice.
“What?” Blair looked confused.
“I met the stranger guy, Again. And he saved me, again. But I forgot to give his glove back.”
“How long do we have to call him the stranger dude? It makes him sound evil.” Blair said.
“His name is Eric,” Jess’s insides did a flip-flop at the sound of her voice saying his name.
“That’s hawt,” Blair joked, noticing Jess’s flushed cheeks.
“Chyeah!” Jess joked back.
The two girls giggled, and Jess wondered if she would ever meet him again. Then, she heard the phone ring. Blair picked it up.
“Hey, it’s Mark. Is Jess there?”
Jess shook her head no, her limbs flailing in an attempt to tell Blair she didn’t want to talk to him.
“VAAAAT?” Blair answered into the phone, “VAT YOOH VANNT?”
Jess covered her mouth with her hands to keep from laughing into the phone.
“It’s Mark,” he repeated, “I wanna talk to Jess.”
“I FINK YOOH GUT RUNG NUMBARR. BYE!” Blair hung up.
The two girls burst into a fit of giggles until they had tears streaming down their cheeks. Finally, they stopped.
Blair yawned, “I’m so bored. Wanna go decorate a tree?”
“A tree?” Jess asked, confused.
“In HappyVille, silly!” Blair answered
“Oh.. Sure!”
When they got to HappyVille, they snatched the room with the biggest tree. Jess eagerly bought as many decorations as she could hold and climbed to the very to place the star. Blair followed quietly without Jess noticing. Blair tapped Jess on the shoulder. Jess flinched, startled, and lost her balance. Blair’s eyes widened. Jess closed her dark eyes, and braced herself for the pain. But instead of falling on the ground, she felt herself falling into someone’s arms. It was Eric!
“You again!” Jess exclaimed, surprised.
“Me again!” Eric laughed, “I swear I didn’t stalk you!” He added.
Blair ran up to Jess, relieved. “Omigosh Jess, I’m sorry!”
“It’s alright. I’m fine, thanks.”
“Meh, no biggie.”
Jess smiled. “How could I ever repay you?” she joked.
“Like this,” and with that, Eric kissed her. As soon as they pulled away, Eric put Jess on the floor gently. She reached into her pocket.
“I almost forgot again,” Jess said, taking out Eric’s glove.
“Oh wow, thanks! I was looking everywhere for this,” Eric hugged Jess.
Blair awkwardly rocked back and forth on her feet. Sensing Blair’s discomfort, Jess introduced them.
“Eric, this is my best friend, Blair. Blair, this is Eric.”
“I remember you from the restaurant!” Eric smiled.
“Heh. Where do you live, Eric?” she asked.
“I don’t really ‘live’ anywhere. I kinda just sleep in different inns and stuff. Jess.. Take me to your house. I wanna see where you live.”
“I guess that’s alright,” Jess answered.
The three of them happily walked to Jessie’s place. Once they got there, they saw the most shocking sight. What used to be Jess’s house was a burning pile of ashes. Jess tried to talk but no words came out. She collapsed, knees falling to the floor.
Blair tightened her grip on her Maple Lama Staff. She looked weary. “Oh my god. Jess.. I don’t know what to say..”
Jess fell into a fit of uncontrollable sobs. Blair bent down next to her to comfort her. First she had lost her parents, and now this. Blair and Eric were the only things she had left. Eric just stared at the burning ashes in shock.
“Who the f–” Eric was cut off. He spotted a piece of paper, lousily stuck to a tree. He read it over, and over. It said:

That‘ll teach you to mess with us, sweetheart.
–Shadow
“Basterds!” Eric yelled in frustration.
“W-Who’s Shadow?” Jess asked between sobs.
“One of the gang members.. But since their leader died, I guess he took over,” Eric answered.
“You mean in P-Perion?”
“Yeah.”
“I cant.. Believe it!” Jess sobbed, “Where will I live noww~”
“You can always stay with me Jess. Eric you too,” Blair offered.
“Serious?” Jess asked.
“Why not?” Blair smiled weakly.
“Thanks, Blair,” Eric said, “I really appreciate it.”
“No problem,” Blair answered.
