Zakum Helmets: A Buyer’s Guide

What does it mean to “buy” a Zakum Helmet? With default stats of LUK +15, STR +15, INT +15, DEX +15, M.DEF +150, W.DEF +150, and 10 slots the Zakum Helmet (1) is one of the most coveted items in the game. However, you can’t trade it or buy it directly from other players. You can loot one normally if you’re a high enough level and you’re given permission to do so. However, if done properly you can also buy a Zakum Helmet (1) by paying a high-leveled guild or group to take you into Zakum and if you survive they will likewise give you permission to loot.

Buying a Zakum Helmet in 6 Simple Steps:
1. Research Prices and Raise Funds – This is self-explanatory

2. Research Guild/Group to Sponsor you – Easily the most important step as it will not be a cheap investment (usually 150+ million mesos) where payment in-full is made up front and you do not want to get scammed. Get as many references as you can including rival Guilds/Groups, previous buyers, any information at all regarding the potential Sellers including rumors of scamming. Remember that for a legitimate high-leveled Guild/Group that intends to Sell protecting its reputation is worth more than a measly 150+ million mesos.

3. Make the Payment – As I said in Step 2 payment is made in-full and up front (please do NOT skip Step 2) and you’ll be told when your Zakum run will be. Please make certain the recipient of your payment is actually in the guild/group before you make the payment.

4. Prepare Yourself – Your ONLY job as a Buyer is to stay alive. Research how many potions you’ll need to survive a run then buy more! Make sure your computer doesn’t easily lag or disconnect. If your computer has issues with lag or disconnecting then the battle is lost even before it’s started and it’s unlikely you can obtain a Z Helm on your computer. Make sure your computer is set to Normal Resolution (quickest) and just before you enter Zakum make sure that you’ve turned off ALL Game Options such as Whisper, Chat Invite, Trade, etc. And pets away, pl0x.

5. Follow Instructions – This is self-explanatory. Zakum dies hopefully—and hopefully quickly.

6. Loot Helmet – Several Zakum Helmets may drop after the 3rd Body is killed. Loot only the helmet and nothing else. Congratulations! You’re now the proud new owner of a legit Zakum Helmet! [MapleTip of the Day: Don’t play drop game with your Zakum Helmet.]

Thanks to Guildless of Bera for taking me in and feel free to critique this post as this guide was done on the fly but I can easily edit. Finally, read my separate blog on my own experience of buying a Z Helm.
