What is a “High Level” player?

I’m not talking about so-called “pros” here or anything like that.

Back when you were just a little noob adventurer running around and trying not to get killed by that iron hog at pig beach, you would look to the level 50 player and go “wow, that dude’s pretty high level”.

Then you got to level 50. A little steadier on your feet, and the distant fuzzy image of 3rd job is starting to come into somewhat sharper focus. You got over that level 49 hump that seems to beat a lot of players. You feel pretty good, but then notice the people getting congratulated for reaching 3rd job. Level 70. You think “man, 3rd job, they’re pretty high level”.

If you manage to keep training, you eventually get to level 70. A test of wits and strength gains you new powers, a new title, temporary bragging rights, and the kudos of your buddy list. You’ve gotten to be a fairly high level. For a moment, before you jump back into the leveling grind, you think “what next?” You travel to more difficult training areas, and see people who have levels nearing the triple digits. And you say “Man, they are high level. I’ve gotta get there too”.

So maybe you do. Maybe you wind up like me. Level 97, nearly to triple digits, and looking… at all the people who are over level 100. 105, 110, 115, 120… after that it isn’t healthy to keep looking, really. You’ll just get jealous and sick. I find myself complaining that I still don’t feel like I’m really a very high level. And people tell me to shut up and that I am high level.
But I don’t feel like it. I catch a brief feeling of it when my magic claw does over 1000 damage on each hit, but… it’s fleeting. I find myself wondering if I’ll ever really feel like I’m a high level.

When do you think someone reaches a “high level”?

  1. I used to think my level I am now was a high level for the longest time.
    And now I hate how no matter what level you are it’s not high enough. =/
    That’s why I love to go to areas with lower levels than me, just to make me feel like I’m a high level. =]
    I feel bad for them though, so I love to help them out with things they need.

  2. When I can actually run through an area without fearing too much for my health. :/
    So I’m “high level” whilst in Victoria and various parts of the dungeons, but phail terribly in, say, the Nath dungeons or Aqua Dungeons. But I like my level enough, so I’m not in any hurry to go anywhere

    But yeaa , it mostly depends on YOU . Whats your goals etc . For me , its to reach level 70

  4. @Fenny: They would if they had to run through a mob of agitated Tauros. Or Pixies. Or Zombies. Or any monster that has magic attacks. >O

  5. Well, I thought third jobbers [level 70] were pretty high levelled, and now I’m level 86. I don’t consider level 70 as a high levelled person anymore. Not with the glitch Orbis Party Quest. Now I consider level 100+ characters to be high levelled, unless they hacked.

  6. Usually everywhere I feel nub-ified, because there’s always gonna be a ‘bigger fish in the lake.’ But I’m quite content with where I am. :3

  7. one good way to cure your depression is go back to Henesys Hunting Ground and hang out with the low levels there. Better yet
    get some beginner’s clothes and a beginner’s word and youre set.
    When i was level 51, i did the same thing, disguised myself as a newb, and went around killing snails.
    The newbies are much nicer and they hardly notice. its kind of funny when they do click on you and find out ur hi level for real lol.

  9. Max Level limit is 200. When thy is 200, thyself may become a player/NPC. Then you rule over the game. GG.
