Words of a Hacker-CH8-

I’m all alone……At least I had Ly before, but now there’s no one…..I’m by myself…. I shifted my bag so it would make a more comfortable pillow. I pulled up my Anakamoon over me to keep the cold away.

I slowly got up. I couldn’t sleep. I folded my Anakamoon and placed it in my bag and slung it over my shoulder. I stepped out of my cabin and walked through the corridor. I walked up to the deck. A gust of wind was steadily blowing past me as the ship sped forward. There were clouds around us except for the ocean far below us.

I looked forward and saw the small outlines of Orbis. We should be there in a day or so. I sighed and decided to go back to my cabin.

“Zero. You seem pretty lonely.” A voice wheezed. I would recognize that from anywhere. It had haunted my mind as the reason Ly had to die. I clenched my fists and slowly reached for my Korean Fan. I turned and used vac as I transformed the Korean Fan into a Dragon’s Tail. I turned to find a puppet flying towards me. Puppet? I dropped it to the ground.

“This time I’ll kill you for sure!” Jack shouted. He looked the same except his clothes were torn and he was dirtier than before. He started to fire arrow after arrow at me. I easily dodged them all. Without his Hacker powers he’s just another human. I could feel the rage inside me burn wildly.

“This is for Ly.” I shouted. I quickly rushed forward dodging all the arrows. I could see Jack was panicking as he attacked more and more. As I came close to him I used Assaulter. I slashed through his crossbow and slashed through his side.

He fell to the ground as he grabbed his side. Blood was pouring out. I felt the same sensation of killing before I had met Lily. Lily…. I quickly pushed her out of my mind. I went up to him and pressed my dagger to his throat.

“Where is Luke now?” I asked in a cold voice. I could see him sweating. He gulped.

“Ok…o-ok. P-please. I’ll t-tell you. Just p-please d-don’t kill me.” He begged. I pressed my dagger closer. A small trickle of blood slid down his neck.

“Tell. Me. Now!” I shouted. I had half a mind to kill him right now. He deserves to die. He’s the reason Ly is dead.

“Luke is at-.” Jack started, but he was cut off. His face was still. I slowly moved my dagger away from him. I stared at him cautiously. He might be faking. I quickly jumped back and pulled out a Meso incase he would attack. I dropped the Meso. He wouldn’t attack.

Blood was gushing out of his chest. He was dead. I heard a sigh behind me.

“If only he hadn’t tried to give away our hideout. Although I would’ve killed him anyway. What use is a servant that isn’t a Hacker?” a familiar voice called from behind. I knew who it was before I turned.

“Luke…” I whispered. I turned to face him. He held his Blue Screamer to his side. He raised it and threw it at me. It slid against the floor and came to my feat.

“I have a proposition for you. Work for me and I’ll let Jane go. She’ll be free to do what ever she wants.” Luke said.

“You’re willing to trade Jane’s freedom for mine?” I asked in disbelief.

“Yes you’re more of a use to me than her.” Luke said smiling devilishly. I thought about this carefully. I had no guarantee he was telling the truth. I took a little more time thinking about this.

“What was that commotion on the deck?” a voice asked from below deck.

“I don’t know. Let’s go check it out.” Another said.

“Zero now is the time to decide.” Luke said. “What is your answer?” He stuck out his hand. I had to choose now. But which is the right choice?

I took a step forward. I transformed my Dragon’s Tail back into a Korean Fan. I sheathed it and walked up to Luke. I reached my hand out slowly.

I grasped it and shook.

“Excellent. Now get my blade and come along.” Luke said walking to the edge of the ship. I vacced his blade to me and threw it at him. He caught it with one hand and sheathed it.

“That’s right. Don’t keep that anger bottled up.” Luke said laughing. He jumped off the edge of the ship. I quickly ran to the edge and looked over the edge. There was a small ship that had one flying motor in the back. Inside were a few people and Luke. Why couldn’t he have missed the boat?

I jumped down and landed in the ship. We sped off. Luke told me to sit down and I did. I thought about what I was doing. In the end I decided to give up. What was done was done. Jane I’ll free you soon.

After a day I could see Orbis approaching. Instead of going to the port we dived downwards. I could see the Orbis Tower stretch downwards. We followed it. After a couple hours I still didn’t see the end of it. I saw we were approaching clouds.

“Zero. A Meso Guard around the ship would keep us dry.” Luke said. I reluctantly obeyed and chucked a few Mesos into the air. I used Meso Guard and a golden shield surrounded the ship. We went through the cloud and like Luke said, kept dry.

I could see the snow-covered ground. We landed in it and I released the Meso Guard. Luke climbed out and ordered me to follow. He slashed the air viciously and all the other people fell as their bodies tore apart. I flinched, but felt a littler calmer at seeing people being killed as I slowly reverted to my old self.

“I couldn’t let those crooks go as they might spill to the GMs about me.” Luke said as we walked on. I bit back my tongue and remained silent. We kept walking on. I felt the familiarity of my surroundings. This was the way to The Hole.

“Looks like we’re here.” Luke said stopping in front of a log. He pushed the log aside. Under it was a layer of snow. He brushed it away to reveal a metal slot. He pushed it open and reached inside. I could hear him turn a few dials. He brought his hand out of the slot holding a thick cord. He pulled it upwards until a trapdoor rose.

I saw a staircase that led downwards. We both walked down it. The end of the staircase revealed a giant den full of people. A room full of Hackers…..I guess it was the right decision to leave Aaron and Lily behind. I cautiously followed Luke. Suddenly a caged door covered the path we had just come in by. I quickly flipped out my Korean Fan and transformed it into a Dragon’s Tail.

“Zero it is alright. This is my hideout. The Hole.” Luke said sitting on a giant throne-like chair at the back of the den. I thought back to when Jane told me to go to The Hole. She knew it was Luke’s hideout. She tried to set me up…….But still she had no choice. Luke was controlling her.

“Now where’s Jane?” I asked.

“Patience.” Luke said. He snapped his fingers and a couple Hackers came to his side.

“Bring me Jane, Josh, and Dot.” Luke said. Josh? Who was that?

A few seconds later the three people came. I suddenly remembered Josh. He was Jane’s little brother. He had a blank expression and kept close to Dot. Now it all made sense. They were controlling Josh to control Jane.

“Why didn’t you guys just control Jane?” I asked out of curiosity.

“None of your business.” Dot retorted.

“Dot, be nice. Zero might become one of my most precious servants soon.” Luke said happily.

“Ok Master!” Dot replied cheerfully. She turned back to me. Her tone became spiteful.

“I can control people, but while under my control their abilities can’t be used. If I controlled Jane she wouldn’t have been of any use.” Dot explained.

“Dot its time.” Luke said. Dot pulled out a scroll from a pocket. She spread it out. I could see Josh’s name in it.

“Zero. You can scratch out Josh’s name or what ever and he’ll be free. But afterwards you have to follow Luke’s orders or I’ll make everyone whose name is written in my scrolls kill themselves.” Dot explained. She passed me a pencil. I placed the tip on the scroll. I scratched out Josh’s name. Suddenly Josh dropped to the ground.

Jane rushed to him and held him close. At the look of relief on her face I could tell that he was alive.

“Zero are you content?” Luke asked.

“Not until you let them free.” I replied. Luke started to laugh.

“You didn’t really think I’d release Jane like that.” Luke said. I could Dot start to erase my markings on Josh’s name. Underneath the markings Josh’s name stayed there….in ink. He slowly rose to his feat. His face was blank again.

“Guess what another rule is.” Dot said happily. “Anyone who writes in my scroll has to protect me no matter what.” I froze. I was trapped. I had planned to kill the girl and maybe all her puppets would be freed, but now I had to protect her. And I have to listen to them or hundreds of people will die. Luke started to laugh again.

“Zero now I’ll add you to my collection of Hackers.” Luke said grinning. “You know, strong Hackers are hard to come by. Most of the Hackers here are all weaklings. Know that I think about it I killed some good Hackers just to test your strength, but oh well. You’ll make up for them all.” I clenched my fist. I was so angry with myself for falling into this trap.

“Nothing to say? You tired? You can go to sleep. You can share a room with Jane. Since you to are lovers.” Luke started to burst out laughing at his own joke. The surrounding Hackers joined in. I clenched my teeth and walked off. I sat at a back table where there were less Hackers and started to think.

“Michael I’m sorry.” Jane said. I could see was starting to cry. I stared at her. I couldn’t help blaming her for all this. I carefully wiped the cheers from her cheek. I grasped her hand softly. With my other hand I gently moved strands of hair from her face

“Don’t worry. I promise I’ll get you and your brother out of this.” I whispered. I could see her face start to lighten up a little bit.

“Hey you new guy!” a deep voice called out. “I don’t see what’s so special about you.” I turned to see a Fire Mage pointing his Phoenix Wand at me.

“Let’s have a little duel.” He said. “I bet I could beat you.”

“Yes Zero let’s have a little duel. Just to make it more amusing you are only allowed your Cleric powers.” Luke called out. I sighed. I had no choice.

I reached into my bag and pulled out my Anakamoon. I pulled it over my Thief clothes and placed my Seraphis over my Dark ID.

“Fine. I accept.” I said using Holy Arrow. I aimed and fired.

  1. lol wait let me understand this. since he shot holy arrow and before he was affected by game guard, he shot a ban guard at the fire mage right?

    You mean Jack?

Jack’s a sniper. Arrow Eruption is a sniper skill.

  3. Ok So here I’ll try to answer all you’re questions:
@darkmonkey4: he just fell through the clouds. Michael isn’t sure what’s beneath them. So if I added some “behind the scenes” things it would be like Ly’s body went under Jack’s so he survived the fall and then he climbed back up. Or summoned a Golden Eagle to help him get up.
@thisisthief: totally new series. new characters. new everything.
@irlazybum: in my last chapter I said the Holy Arrow with Game Guard would be called “Ban Shot” the holyarrow that Michael shot at the end of this chapter was just a plain old holyarrow. We can’t just go aroudns hooting Ban Shots randomly. Only 4 a day.>.>
@nightshade72: sorry not taking auditions for characters. maybe in my next series. which might be soon because I’ve hit a sort of road block in this series already.Don’t worry I’ll try my best to continue it.
@sapphire8: I think irlazybum was talking about Michael because at the end of the chapter he shot a holy arrow.

    well time to go Maple.

  4. Lol the fire mage willl lose. Fire mages can’t do 1 on 1s. But then again cleric can’t either o.O

  5. Try making some visual pictures from a character simulator for us. I’m having a hard time thinking about how everyone looks like(besides Ly in Lycanthrope form).
